Nice try, but thre was nothing "threatening" about my PM. I'm very careful on how I word things thank you and I'm aware of the forum rules here, so you can involve and PM whoever you want, knock yourself out. Never once did I accuse you of anything on the public boards. Again, I've worded all of my responses in a manner of following the forum guidelines here so if you think I'm worried about you telling on me, I'm not. I already "clarified" with you via PM as well, so other people forming their own opinions based on their own findings is up to you to address with them. When some people, in general, hide behind proxy servers, even the administrator cannot detect the IP, therefore unable to 100% accurately prove a person is using multiple accounts. To keep things on topic, thank you layzerboy for your excellent decision.
I don't want to throw any more fuel onto this fire, but you're a lot less likely to get a reply from arn than you are the other mods. They've got enough power to take action against people you have problems with. To be honest, I'd probably have done something to make the competiton a little less prone to cheating in the first place. He said Game Center was coming in an update and that would have been far more reliable. As soon as I saw the requirements for this one I figured someone was just going to Photoshop their way to victory. I'm not really mad at the developer, he's probably learned something from this, but it's a shame he didn't take the extra step to make it a little more secure.
Using Gamecenter for contests isn't safe either as multiple TA accounts can enter all the same under numerous Gamecenter accounts. A score is a score. Person A (toucharcade ID xxxxx) is good at the game and enters the contest under Gamecenter ID xxxxx). Person A (toucharcade ID xxxx1) is good at the game and enters the contest under Gamecenter ID xxxx1). Person A (toucharcade ID xxxx2) is good at the game and enters the contest under Gamecenter ID xxxx2). Person A gets 1st, 2nd, 3rd place. How fair is that?
A competition is probably never going to be 100% fair, but at least with Game Center you have set restrictions and you can simply say that the GC results are final. What's to stop a developer running endless competitions to build up hype for his/her game and then cancelling them all at the last moment due to cheaters? If everyone did that we wouldn't have competitions. Sometimes you just have to accept it's possible but go ahead anyway.
@Creepshow: You are wrong. I am not being malicious. That is why I am not reposting your pm in this thread. I am just protecting myself against libel. On the other hand, your are right about game center does not seem like it would be able to prevent entries in a contest with multiple surrogate accounts. It will allow us to see what the leader board looks like, which I think NewtonApples would greatly benefit from. Peace.
@MidianGTX: Personally, I am so put off by the outcome that my enthusiasm is greatly diminished. How is it that there is not even a high score posted after many of us spend hours playing? Publicity is definitely achieved (good or bad) with close to 4000 views. And to even think that I was invited to beta test for his next version... So much for being an enthusiast.
