I think this is the best way:) no need to accuse the winner izit got cheating or not, because now everyone are the winners:D and the price just US$1 or free apps...

Hope Lazerboy will have a great contest next time, and also with a great rules to prevent cheater to break the contest:)

Maybe abit not fair for purchases the apps at full price, but this is the only way to be fair for everyone:) If you purchase the apps at full price, but the contest let the cheater wins all the price, you get nothing also same as you purchase the apps for nothing. But now atleast everyone who had email Lazerboy the result before also can get US$1 or gift apps or promo code, this is a good decision for everyone, everyone atleast can get one prize, nothing lose at all:)

  5. What happened?

Please explain the cheating. Specifically what was the winning score and why do you think it is not valid. I told all my friends about this contest and had them checked out the game because I was really excited about it. All this for nothing?

To put it as cool-ly as i can, people have complained, i have to make a decision and thus it has been made. I dont know who these "friends" are but frankly, less than 40 people sent in their contest entries.

now i am going to TRY and have a nice weekend.

    Thank YOU.

DO have a great weekend, you handled this in the best way possible. I did submit a score (although it was horribly embarrassing) but also got the game when it was offered for free so I consider that my prize. Thanks again for the great game and I hope this didn't leave a bad taste in your mouth vis à vis contests and Touch Arcade. This is a great community, don't let a couple of bad apples (or apple in this case) ruin that...

I hope you have a fantastic weekend. You deserve it after this nonsense!

  9. since you are wondering...

Because I scored 1577 and I wanted to know who had the high score so I don't need to embarrass myself telling everyone what my score was (good or bad). End of story.

I played by the rules and I deserve an explanation. I don't need the money but just a nod for my effort.

I am sorry that someone else ruin it for the dev and the contestants but it is not my fault either. (Please refer to the Bounty Hunt contest thread if you are not up to date with the complaint.)

I understand that we all win when we can promote the game. I honestly think that this is an excellent game from an indie developer. Honestly, out of all the games that I tried this year, I had the most fun with this one (contest not withstanding). I want to wish him the best of luck for promoting NewtonApples.

Everyone reading this should get the free version and try it out. If you like it, buy the full version to support the dev.

    Sincerely

The dev made a decision that was best suited for everyone in this scenario
in the effort of fairness. If you really wanted to support this dev, then you'd
    start by supporting his decision.

Read the developer's contest results post again, there's your explanation.
As stated, send in a request for your dollar.

Thanks for your kind words. It is just a game. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Life goes on. Have a thrilling Friday the :rolleyes: everyone.

To Creepshow: "All this for nothing" refers to I don't even know if I came close to the high score after playing for weeks. Why are you so focused on the prize?

To Edenpod: Please add game center support!

Gamecenter support still won't make a contest "fair".
People using multiple TA accounts would just use multiple Gamecenter accounts.

  15. I only have one TA account and I don't use proxy. How many do you have/had? This is getting silly. I refuse to come down to your level. I will be playing golf and take a break from this nonsense.

Well this kind of sucks, my girlfriend sent in a fantastic score. Perhaps people should stop holding competitions if they can't judge them fairly, some people spent a lot of time playing this game and it's all for nothing.

  18. Enough accusations, please.

I recieved a threatening pm yesterday from @Creepshow and I have asked (pm) forum administrator arn to step in. This is suppose to be all fun and game. I agree with the last comment. Don't accuse someone unless you are 100% certain. What would be your recourse if it turns out that you are wrong? I am now convinced that layzerboy canceled the competition because @Creepshow and/or others think that I am associated with @LucyMac and @katday. I categorically deny it. You may ask why I am posting this? At the risk of stirring more negativity, I sincerely hope that there will be a positive final outcome so that everyone will feel welcome to host or participate in more contests in the future. Peace. :)

Why complain and be mad at the developer?

If people are cheating in a contest, the developer reserves the right to
cancel the contest in an attempt to make things fair for everyone. It's
unfortunate that your girlfriend feels her time was "wasted" playing this
game, (nice nod to the developer's game btw), but I'd be happy to play
again under more stricter guidance to avoid people like katday entering
under multiple accounts in an attempt to win.

@M13: Don't ever forget what a wise man said once:
"Don't ever eat the lure" ;)

@Creepshow: It's really difficult, one safe way would be Game center, but the way MilkDrinkingCow did it in Angry Rhino contest, where he had the mechanism to find who cheated

@MidianGTX: I totally understand you, but what would you do in the developer's position, when finding out that some of the people participating in your contest are cheaters?
