Nope. It's a 2.5D art style; it does not add literal depth to the gameplay. That said, there are a ton of other new features (as highlighted by others) in Rolando 2.
I'm actually playing Rolando 1 right now. Haven't beaten the game yet (I've had it for a few months now) and the farthest I've ever gotten is World 2 level 3 or something like that. Then restore for 3.0 and yeah... starting all over right now. Just checked the number of secret levels and boy there are a lot.
Why did it get deleted? And yes this is a long game. I spent a long time getting all of the achievements in all of the levels. (see bragging below )
I restored my iPhone for 3.0 Jailbreak, and for some reason my backups don't save. It takes like 30 minutes to backup everything and once I restore and try to backup from a backup file, it doesn't exist.
Woah! That's amazing. I only got the first world completed to perfection. It's really hard. Congrats on perfect the game. Do you get something special (doubt it)? EDIT: By the way, a new video demonstration has been posted at the Rolando 2 official website. Check it out! http://rolando2.ngmoco.com/
Cool! I chose to do a completely clean install for 3.0, motivating me to go through heaps of games again. I had Rolando finished with everything perfect before, and just got there again last night, including all the secret levels so I'm ready for more! Hopefully this update doesn't take a month from submission! I had a few crashes playing R1 on 3.0, and some weird physics failures including little shadow creatures ending up in places they shouldn't! But so many games are messed up with 3.0 that the next OS update will probably fix things more than every app being updated. Edit: well there are six secret levels left locked, so I would guess 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 will finish them off.
Yeah come to think of it i have had a few irregularities while playing Rolando recently but wasn't sure if it was 3.0 or not. My spikey dude just stopped sticking to surfaces in the middle of a game and then when i hit restart level he just dropped right off the wall
Yep that's the one. It's like the physics model inverts - it's like sticking opposing magnets (or whatever) together. Spikey can't stick to surfaces, and the little shadow enemies can also get unstuck from the things they're orbiting. I think it may have happened once or twice before 3.0, but certainly a lot more to me this time through.
This is the second time I had this bug when the Rolando gets stuck inside the yellow things. Also does anybody have any hints for City Center? Usually it takes two or three runs to get the three achievements but this one seems to be giving me difficulties. I've perfected all of the other bonus levels and this is just killing me. Edit: Nevermind, I did it. Edit 2: Here's the bug that I found:
To get this thread back on track (Rolando 2 news, not 1), here's something that sounds pretty cool, quoted from IGN:
It kind of gave it away when they used Mr. Scruff in the trailer. But anyway that Mr. Scruff Rolando sounds pretty sweet. Although I can't say that I would recognize which one he is...
Heads up: more Rolando 2 goodness was unlocked today. Head to rolando2.ngmoco.com to check out the Cavernous Caves, which features some good ol' fashioned mine cart exploration.
