Maybe they offer the whole app for a low price and include all rolando one levels for a buck or two. And then offer all Rolando two levels as an in-app purchase? So people get all of rolando one for cheap and if they like it, then they can upgrade and pay some more for the rest of the series. Obviously everyone with rolando 1 already will just immediately upgrade to rolando two and pay original price and upgrade price which would add up to maybe $9.99 like the game would have originally shipped out for anyway. This way, now everyone only needs one app on their device instead of both rolando and rolando 2. Just a thought (yes I commented this on the front page article as well, but I hadn't come in here and read yet, and I made a lot of typo's )
I replied on the front page article This sounds like a good idea but it will probably be the other way around. What I mean is that you will pay for Rolando 2 and then, as an in-app purchase, get all the levels of the original in the new 2.5D format for a low price (those who already own the app can get it for free by transferring data).
I thought that too, but in the final vid, simon says that the Rolandoland levels are tutorials...I do like the idea though.
People sometimes lie.... When I saw the first video, I thought the same exact thing. It would be smart for them to include the 1st Rolando's levels in the second, data transfer for previous owners, and $2.99 for new owners. It would be cool to play the first game in 2.5D.
Or maybe just make a "Classic" mode with Rolando 1 in 2D. I'm really wondering why they would take away Rolando 1... to avoid confusion with Rolando 2?
well...i was waiting for a rolando 1 price drop to buy it. then i'd have bought rolando 2 once i complete the first. now i see they remove their apps from the store (which is dumb since it'll prolly bug on upcoming firmware and won't be fixed), i'm no buying any of these games. i got star defense and love it. i kinda hope a sequel is never coming now. ngmoco really disappoints me here.
They don't want to cannibalize their own games. Why buy Rolando 2 when you can get tons of gameplay from Rolando 1 for less money? I think it is a rather obvious move. If you ever wanted Rolando 1 go ahead and get it now.
@ Sev Rolando works perfectly for me under 3.0, so its all good. And it is easily 1 of, if not the best games on the platform right now. With all the extra levels available in the previous updates, totaling about 50, it is well worth the current price. But its your loss if you decide against it... @ Fleabag323 I doubt they'll add it for free for current owners as they would have needed to spend a significant amount of resources rebuilding the levels and re-testing etc. In fact thats the reason I don't think it will be included with Rolando 2. @ theone1007 Yeah, maybe to avoid potential buyers seeing Rolando 1 @ $6 and Rolando 2 @ $10 (i'm guessing). Maybe they're concerned people would just buy 1 for less money and not bother with 2, or worse not realize what the difference is?
i have no doubt about the game's quality. and yes it works on 3.0 but when 3.1, 3.5 or 4.0 will come out, rolando may get some bugs and need some updates to play correctly. but since they give up on it you wont be able to play your game anymore. it's like these old DOS games not working on windows. at least people made a fix for most to get them working, but the iphone is not open like a PC. all the game, from the work to make it to the fun people get playing it, will be definitively wasted forever with this commercial move.
I just noticed that they actually raised the price of Rolando 1 to 5.99. Weird, weird, WEIRD marketing strategy.
Yeah I noticed that like a month ago... weird.. I'm just happy that Rolando will continue to be supported. I really thought that I was scammed for a couple of hours.
they just tweeted. Rolando stays and topple is coming back!!!! Finally a company that listens to the people!!!
This is just for the people who havent read the tweet yet but rolando 2 drops JULY 1st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
