lol, the irony. You should look up the word "discrimination". I think you'll find that you are the only person who's discriminting. Marriage should be a right for everyone, whether you're straight or gay. You saying that gays should'nt have this right to marry (which straight people have) is discrimination. Me calling you an idiot isn't discrimination. I don't hate your race, sexuality or gender, I just think you're a moron.

Yea, well I can understand your way of thinking but I'm referring to the actual idea of allowance of gay practice and this idea isn't new. A different country and time factor that we're living in makes it seem modern but the concept of allowing gay practice is very old.

    Wow guys, chill out.
Whether you are a homophobic or not isnt our problem, so stop this:
"I'm not gay!" or "I hate gays".
Nobody gives a shit about it on TA.The person who made this post thought it was a great news and wanted to share it with us....
    BTW@ random gay :
I bet your one of these guys who read the newspaper and see
    "***** is gay..."
    and then you say
" to bad he's gay. i kinda liked him..."

They'll say, "We support family values." So isn't monogamy something to be encouraged?

They'll say, "The government should stay out of our personal lives." So why use the powers of government to force the morals of Christianity into matters of personal conscience?

They'll say, "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." So why deny liberty to those pursuing happiness in marriage?

But if you're very lucky you'll hear someone like Charlie Crist during a political debate say something hilarious, like, "Marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman, like my wife and I had before we got divorced."

Want to protect that sacred institution of marriage? Ban divorce. Or is THAT a personal matter?

This is why the gay marriage debate has been such a hot topic for so long. Honestly, this is a small community among the entire world...and this thread went from sharing important news to a thread where everyone is insulting one another...

    Get off your high horses.

The fact is, church and state have been seperated for sometime. This country is not a Theocracy. This is a free country and to be an american is to be free. Freedom doesnt mean you can be discriminated against for wanting to do what you want. Like who you want, and believe what you want.

US Troops didn't fight for all the straight americans, they fought for every american. Present, past, and future.

You're significantly understating things! It's not just New York City (pop. 8 million) -- it's the whole state (19 million), including some extremely conservative rural areas. It's good news overall, made even better by the fact it was passed by a state legislature that's controlled by Republicans (the first time that's happened in the U.S.).

I see... even better! It's confusing how things work over there, probably even for the people who live there having to keep up with different laws in different states. Over here once gay marriage was legalized, that's it, the whole country follows the same law. Although something like the smoking ban might vary from city to city... not sure on that one.

This is great news. There's not too much else for me to say. New York, though, great state for one of the first dominos to fall. Increases the momentum.

I see what you did there!
