I wouldn't expect it to go over 9.99 unless SE wants to commit app store suicide (on app store reviews there are people who will say like good game but should be 99 cents on games like Chinatown Wars and other huge titles) But even if it does go over I would still buy it but SE has to look at the consumers they are selling too.
I expect it to go over 9.99$ - according to the screenshots and all the facts we know (especially that it is a 30+ hours game), this game is playing in another league. Can't be compared to most of the actual games. Moreover, we're not talking about ngmoco, Gameloft or Freeverse here - we are talking about Square/Enix.
But you are forgetting the fact that a large majority of the people that have an idevice would not pay over 10 dollars. So if they but it at 10 dollars in the long run they would may alot more money because alot more people would be buying then if it was at 15 or 20
Well, let's see... And don't get me wrong - I'd also like to see it for 10 bucks. If the game is really as good as I expect it to be, I'll call it a steal.
GTA: CW was a port from the DS game. Chaos Rings was built from ground up as a new game for the iPhone and it's a new IP too. I'm all for raising the bar of the games standard if that means more serious games like Final Fantasy, Street Fighter, Soul Callibur, and other well-known IPs instead of the poor man's versions ala Gameloft. $15 is still alright compared to other console games.
True. Don't forget also, that the people always complain but buy it anyway. I don't think there will be big complains - for a mobile new S/E game.
The fact that it is a new, unproven IP isn't a plus. That actually points more to the direction of it being a 10 dollar game And yeah GTA CTW was a port, but it was a proven game. It is one of the highest rated games on both the DS and PSP from one of the most recognizable series in the world, not some unproven RPG from SE. I'm not saying it shouldn't be more than 10 dollars. More work was probably put into making Chaos Rings, than into porting GTA. However how much they worked on it doesn't matter, what matters is what App Store customers are use to paying. It's not like this is Final Fantasy: Chaos Rings, it's just Chaos Rings.
True, I also want it to be $10, but if $15 is what it takes so we can have more AAA titles from developers (not half-assed efforts from Konami & SEGA), then by all mean I'm all for it. It's not just about Chaos Rings, it's the overall trend. Too many games in the Appstore so far are just poor clones or very shallow (see Gameloft games). I want the real deal. I want more big devs invest serious time and effort into their titles like Capcom did with Street Fighter IV or Taito with Space Invaders Infinity Gene and of course, Rockstar with GTA too.
Ah ha!! Didn't know that before. Well then, SquareEnix's best game so far is not FF1 or FF2, it's Space Invaders Infinity Gene!!
The minute this is released I'm buying, reguardless of price. I don't mind paying more for an SE original game.
I don't care what price it gets released at since I am all for turning the appstore back to quality and not quantity. But remember that most people won't say - gee 15 dollars is a bargain compared to a console game - they will say (***not me talking here to clarify***) - 15 BUCKS - when is the SALE? Do you have any PROMOS? What the HECK? I can get (insert crapp name here) for 99 cents! (*** /paraphrasing) I think people might expect this to be a 10 dollar title though.
