Really, well then I guess I'll just have to wait for this then, not that thats a bad thing of course.
Translation: I'm an idiot who can't do anything but trolling on a gaming forum. Yeah, I hope this will be out soon.
What's funny is you seem to be attacking Random Guy on the assumption that he doesn't like sprite based RPG's and it's wrong for him to stereotype games, but then you finish by saying "any eastern RPG are awesome," which is stereotyping games based on their style. Sorry, no. There are good sprite based games and bad sprite based games. There are good eastern RPG's and horrible, horrendous, terrible eastern RPG's. Personally I'm not a huge fan of sprites myself, and that's just as valid an opinion as any. I much prefer the look of Chaos Rings. But if the gameplay is good enough, I'll play a sprite based game. At the same time, all else being equal, I prefer better graphics. Nothing wrong with that. Just as, I'm sure, you prefer the better eastern RPG's to the bad ones.
I've been searching for news/updates but I haven't found any. Zenonia 2 was boring, let's hope this delivers.
New screenshots of battle system. Note on image quality: iPhone screenshots of 3D graphics always look like crap.
I think it looks great, too, but I was trying to address the usual comments these kinds of screenshots get.
Agreed. @AwakenOsiris: from SE's post, it looks like combat will be very tactical, which can extend the length of the game without resorting to grinding. From the previews there seems to be plenty of content -- different environments, tons of dialogue, a number of boss creatures. Personally, I would be very satisfied if it hits the 10 hour mark -- I don't need at 50 hour game to make me happy.
Man I hope not. I'll be sorely disappointed if they drop the ball on this one and give us a pretty, but half assed RPG... Give us the real deal already!!!
This is one aspect of RPG geekdom (I'm including myself within this group) that I have trouble understanding. Does a story really need be drawn out for 20 hours before it's actually acceptable? I understand that people want to get value out of a $60.00 purchase, but what about a $10.00 game? Just as a point of reference, Sergei Bondarchuk's War and Peace was only 7 hours long, and that was freaking Tolstoy. Personally, I find that once I hit the 15 hour mark on a game I start getting pretty antsy -- themes, characters, and locations have already started to repeat, and the story seems to be taking turns only for the sake extending the length of the game. Maybe that's just me.
20hr+ gameplay doesn't automatically mean drawn out. There's plenty of 20+hr RPGs that I've played where it doesn't feel like I'm just grinding or repeating the same story/gameplay elements over and over. Do you get bored with any game that requires you to spend more than 15+hrs on? That might say more about your gaming preferences and less about the game being too long or drawn out. That's not to say that if this game isn't 20+ hours I'll be dissapointed. Short games can be just as much fun as longer ones. As long as I feel I got a complete experience I could care less about the length of the game.
I guess that's kind of my point -- I just don't see 20 hrs as a requirement. BTW, antsy is not the same as bored. And it needs to be weighted with the value I'm getting from the game itself. With something like Chrono Trigger, at 15 hours I was questioning whether it was really necessary (from a story perspective) to go back to 6,000,000 a second time. Still one of the best games I've ever played, mind you, but the thought did cross my mind. Anyway, all I want is a good game that really draws me in and is fun to play .
