Hey guys, I'm Neo-Dragon. I'm the developer behind ZENFORMS. This is my first post, so "Hi" lol. I came here thanks to this cool thread. I love the feedback I've gotten here so far and I'll gladly answer your questions or help ease any concerns you have with me leaving the project. First of all, I've been working on ZENFORMS for 2 years (concept work began in 2010). I can tell you know, there is no way I'm going to leave this project. I love this project. I'm not making a game to make money, I do it for the passion I have of game development. That's why it's taken me 2 years so far haha. The reason why it will have 12 outdoor maps when released (which will be updated after release for free with app updates) is because I'm the sole coder and I'm dying to release this game and get fans like you all playing it ;-) I have no plans on charging for map updates or story updates EVER! Again, it will all be part of app updates through the app store. There is 96 ZENFORMS in the game. 3 Newborns (in pokemon terms, they are like the "starters") and all other ZENFORMS come from them. Check out one of my deviantArt posts as an example of how evolution works: http://fav.me/d4h1jue Although you can find pretty much all 96 ZENFORMS in the wild (except GRAND stage), they will have different move pools (moves they can learn) depending on where you find them. It's not so much about catching ZENFORMS as it is finding a team that is right for you and getting stronger and experiencing the story. Some other features of the game: Creating your character. Story changes based on several factors. Side quests. A reputation and moral system. You can become famous in the game world for being a good or bad person. Mini games. Day/Night system. And more. Thanks for reading this much. We are only a 2 man team so this is cool to read this thread. @neo-dragon Can you please NOT put iaps on this game? I don't mind paying $15 for a full game with quality..
hello to me this project is eagerly awaited because I love pokemon, wanted to know how the catch monster system will be will be equal pokemon, we will have a zenball or something like
Yup. See these: http://www.calisprojects.com/zenforms/media/Crystals.png They are "ZENCrystals". These are used for capturing. I haven't talked much about the battle system yet. More details will be coming really soon on that.
We are not sure about IAPs yet. There will be none for version 1.0 when released. I'm not sure about the future. If there is, we won't abuse the system and make everything cool an IAP. I have a new screenshot to show you all. I haven't even put this on our own forum lol. We know a lot of people didn't like our old DPad and action buttons (action buttons are the buttons on the right). So we revamped the UI for it. Check it out. If you haven't seen the videos, the action buttons shows different icons based on what is in front of the player. It also hides away when not needed.
After reading your answer about iap, this is definitely an INSTABUY!!!! Any ETA? Really can't wait to have this in my pocket!!!
So the action buttons hide away but what about the DPad? Most everyone knows where the DPad is in ios games, so could it even be hidden all together? It would free up screen space as well. I'm very interested in this game and want to see it do well. I was glad to read that the dev is more interested in the work and quality than just to make money. It was sad to read that the minomonsters guy was more interested in fame and being better than angry birds than he was to make a good solid game. That being said, are you still accepting donations?
The plan is to have the game released later this month, or at least submitted to Apple by the end of the month. I am the sole coder and there is lots of changes, bug fixes and just building up the content of the game to do. But I'm really motivated and reading all the kind words here in this thread has lit a fire under my partner and I to get this game out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I can guarantee you that the game will be released before March of this year (at most, you'll be waiting two full months MAX on this game). As for the DPad, we are currently looking into various options for it Jeff. Most likely allow the player to adjust the opacity of it. Edit: Donating to the project is detailed here: http://www.calisprojects.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=11
I'd just like to echo the other posters' sentiment and say that I've been waiting for a game of this type on iOS since I got my iPhone, and I'm looking forward to trying it out. As for D-pad options, the emails I've sent you (I'm the one who contacted you on YouTube) contain a suggestion that I think could work very well.
Yeah you will be able to keep playing. Each update will have a cliff hanger - unless stated it is the true end of the game. Each version will have a stat cap so you can train to a certain strength with each ZENFORM. With the cap, it makes sure you don't fully train up a ZENFORM right away lol. @Qurao - thanks so much for the email with the feedback. Already am coding the ability to change the opacity of the UI elements on the map (such as the DPad and menu button). Coding it as I type this in fact lol. Please keep the comments and feedback coming! Thanks guys!
What's the battle system like, are there any gameplay videos or anything you could show us with some of the different moves? I read somewhere there will be status attacks, what kinds of statuses? Also, will there be bosses, like an equivalent of gym leaders? and universal (iPad) support? Sorry for the crazy amount of questions, really excited for this!
Minomonsters had great animations and an interesting battle system, with the ability to gain energy, xp, and health by attacking and tapping hearts lightning, and stars. but that's really it. it was polished, but had no depth. this is definitely looking to have a lot of depth.
minomonsters was a complete rip off with what was it maybe 12 monsters and 4 areas and aboslutely nothing to do but grind and use a lily pad type movement. the animations were good and monster designs pretty impressive but it was meant to make money and i unforutnately got it 2 days before it went free. more monsters is the best thing you can do honestly and having different type of landscapes: islands, mountains, beaches, forrest, desert, etc. sea travel(swim) underwater travel and just a great storyline is the big thing honestly. geosociety failed with the mission system becasue a long storyline and a progression like pokemon made it what it is today it has an interesting story that keeps you interested and has grinding but breaks it up so much becasue you have so much to do in the story so it isn't thought of
Hm. I like the idea of a single purchase for the first part of the game. I wouldn't mind paying for additional content through IAP if the content was justified. I just don't like when games have exclusive items for additional IAP (I heard MinoMonsters had something like that). This would just be an App that I hope gets a good amount of recognition so the community can help support the dev.
