Okay, so although this text below is a copy and paste from my Calis Projects forum post - it's just a time saver (it's after midnight here, I'm going to go to bed). What I said to the members of CP I echo to all of you. It was really nice to read your comments. Really picked my spirits up. I wasn't depressed, not at all. But I was burnt out coding. I was feeling down on ZENFORMS. I don't want to let you all down, or myself. So all your comments gave me energy and focus. Cheers... - - - - - - Here is my update from CP. - - - - - - First - Thank you all for the well wishes. Really made me feel great when I read them. I've been working hard lately - so let's get into it. March 9th 2012 Okay, so I posted this when someone asked about the size of the game. Most people saw it, so it's not really a spoiler anymore. This is an in-game shot with no UI removed of the "Map App" on the PCom. It shows your location and details on the location. You can view where you have to go for the storyline or for a side quest to. Although not coded yet, I plan on letting you touch a location to see the places of interest pop up for that location you touched. The player location marker changes to a pink color if you are a female. I am planning a PCom walkthrough video soon. The PCom is Protector Computer. It's a device only they have. It is like an iPhone inside your game. It has a few apps and has the ability to add more apps and for those apps to get updates. It even has mini games. Expect a video with commentary explaining the PCom really soon. Another thing I updated for the game was something I asked the forum about. For all of development, ZENFORMS have had 5 attacks. As you all know now, I revamped the battle system recently. I've been doing testing and testing of the system. The more testing I did, the more I hated the 5 number. It's funny, I think Gamefreak were onto something when they used 4 attacks and have used 4 for the main RPGs in their series. Based on feedback, you all agreed with me. I should change it so ZENFORMS have 4 attacks. The engine is capable of 5 attacks still. I changed the engine to have 1 variable in a config file change how many attacks a ZENFORM can have. Default is now 4. Who knows.... Maybe 5 attacks will return in an update.... Most likely not. But the option for me to go back is there. The new way - 4 attacks The old way - 5 attacks Is this my first time showing attacks? Well, I'll explain that in more detail very soon when I do the full reveal of the battle system. I feel like I've only seen a small handful of games for the ios that have received this amount of effort that aren't from huge budget companies. still looks amazing!
No still don't have a tile artist. It's hard to find someone that can match the art style of the tiles in ZENFORMS and have the passion to make entire tilesets. We're still looking.
I think after you make this game, maybe see if you can join up with this company or have them join your team of 2. They are a 3 person team. They are working on the same type of game as you guys are. Maybe you guys can work on a new project or combine games together. I just want you guys to get bigger, noticed and enjoy making the game you guys love. Think it over, if you don't like what i said then that's the end of it. Please to the other people, don't write anything bad about this. I like the looks of this game, really emulating the pokemon feel. However, don't go too far as Nintendo and Gamefreak might be on you like stink on a Skunk. Also, I hope you won't nickle and dime us to death with in-app purchases. That would turn me off of this game in a heartbeat.
Oh my gosh! This looks AMAZING. The quality of everything is just... wow. The best part is that it's inspired by Pokemon and not a complete clone. It has its own originality and uniqueness that sets it apart. I love that. And the art... Oh my gosh, it's just beautiful. I can't believe I just now found this... I'm glad I did, though. I only found this through the comments section of the story about the My! My! Monsters game. TouchArcade needs to do a story about ZENFORMS, though. This really tops that other clone, no offense to them. One thing, though. I don't know if it's a placeholder or the final graphic, but the WarZone image looks really out of place and, frankly, really crappy: But otherwise, awesome job! I'm glad you guys aren't in this for the money and focus solely on the fun aspect of the game. You guys seem really passionate about this and have put in a lot of effort. I can't wait to see the final product.
I wish Touch Arcade would do a feature on us. I've tried contacting them twice and even sent them a basic media pack but they didn't reply. It's hard to get exposure and any articles would help. Maybe you guys who ask them and message them on twitter for a ZENFORMS article lol. You wrote amazing comments vivyo. Thank you so much. I'm delighted you adore the game so much. The WarZone app is supposed to be like that. You will see why when you play the game, it has a reason for it lol. It's supposed to be made by an amateur developer in the game world for the PCom All of its graphics are supposed to be pretty low standard - but it's a funny little shooter to play ha. I think my next video I'll be doing will be on the PCom and it's "apps", so when it's posted you will see lol.
Uhhhh. Whenever Calis Projects is satisfied with the result. It's supposed to be soon, but the majority of the community voted on taking more time to make the game. This is to give the devs a hard-earned break, and so that they have more time to give us a great final product.
From the looks of it, seems like a great game inspired by Pokemon. Will definitely get it when it is out.
