To be an iPhone killer you'd have to be an AppStore and iTunes killer. While the AppStore economics are crazy, I don't see any strong competition...yet. All that aside, while that LG looks sleek as a phone, I think I'd hate to use it for any apps or games.

Agreed, if you're not using the AppStore for ANYTHING, and that's pretty rare, I don't think much of any phone is going to kill the iPhone. The reason why the iPhone is so great is because it has the ability to get so many features (Games and apps) that other phones don't have access to.

I very much agree with this statement. I'm sure LG could make a phone with a MUCH better processor, interface, etc., but that would mean nothing without a good service to download those materials for it (example: anyone ever notice what they sell some awful cell phone games for? it can be ridiculous). Because of the mass popularity of the app store, small developers (and large), can get there apps out there and visible easily. Until someone else has a service this well put-together- I don't think there will be an iPhone "killer".

it will never catch on as much as iPhone, it's too complex to use- that is where the iPhone excells.

My contract with AT&T is up in a couple months and this looks like a nice new candidate. Gonna get the next iPod touch and say goodbye to AT&T for ever!

While it's as sleek as hell, I hate using my cell phone for more than calls and texts. Multimedia is never done right on cells phones. Something's always amiss.

Well the phone looks impressive. But if you want to compete against the iPhone you need App Store and iTunes..

Agreed, whenever ANYone posts an iPhone killer. Show me an App store with over 45k+ Apps, and a music program used by 90% of Music Program users

Yeah app store and iTunes aside, that phone does look pretty f*cking nice. I use an iPod touch, so getting this is on my list. I'll have to look into it more, but this thing looks neat.

The iPhone killer, is indeed AT&T itself. lol thats the reason why I don't have one. >.<

Find me one device that has been branded as the "______________ killer" that has been anything more than a total flop.

They said the same thing about the Pre and like what, 11 people bought it?
And I'm sure Palm are proud of their appstore, containing 30 apps!
But I am glad to see LG doing what they're good at: Ripping off other company's IP and somehow messing it up.

I am not sure if this is out to sell yet. But I watched someone use a phone that looked very similar to that and it was just as crappy as all other iphone wannabees. It looked nice but as usual the touch screen was no where near big enough or responsive enough to compete.

Most touchscreens don't use the same technology Apple does. The iPhone uses a capacitive screen which holds an electric charge. Placing your finger on it changes the amount of charge at that point of contact. Our bodies give off electromagnetic waves, which is why ghost-dialing doesn't occur while the iDevice is in our pockets.

Most phones, on the other hands, use resistive touchscreens, where the actual physical contact of the finger smooshes together conductive and resistive circuitry layers which changes the resistance. You might as well be pressing one, big, squishy button. Since this LG phone has glass covering the screen, I'm guessing they're using a capacitive one. This phone might actually have a shot at ultra-smooth navigation, provided the GUI is something like the iPhone.

I had an LG Dare, god I hated that phone. Screen scratched way to easily, the interface was difficult to navigate, and I just disliked the overall feeling. The two features that were actually cool were the 3.2 megapixel camera and the tactile vibrations every time you selected something. Lovin' my LG env2, right now. Getting the env3 when my contract expires.

And to the people that say that they're ripping of Apple's gestures, seriously, how else are you gonna zoom in? "Introducing the revolution LG xxxyyyzzz. To zoom in, all you have to do is draw a counter-clockwise swirl with your right hand while swiping north to northeast with you left hand."

good post, but just so you know, I said "UI controls" refering to the movie player and pretty much everything else.. fair call though, however tech is all about inovation and this is just a blatent copy imo, it will never kill anything. Its so thin though, you could probably cut someone with it.
