I ordered one already, partly for the upgraded display and partly because I wanted more storage. I would have loved additional features, but I think the higher rez display by itself is very attractive. Everything else is gravy.

    Public service announcement:
If anyone else is thinking of ordering one online and you will pay via Discover Card, they offer a 5% cash back if you start the purchase from the discover card web site. It routes you to the Apple Store.

It was slow going and took me a few tries, but I finally got my order completed. Delivery date is March 16th!

I'm kinda lucky in a way to be only getting it on the 23rd. I get to find out things like RAM and initial reviews before I get a chance to spend a boatload of money.

I dunno, Shadowgun gives hope with this, I think it's amazing on tablets and controls beautifully, perhaps even better than it's console equivalents (Gears of War etc.) thanks to the trackpad-style touch aiming. Just a shame no other 3D game devs are following its lead.

True dat! A Windows8 tablet looks to be a much better investment than the third gen ipad. Also, Apple really needs to put out a new ipod that isn't handicapped like the 4th gen was so I can upgrade.

I am going to wait. Knowing Apple and there frequent updates to hardware...there will be an Ipad 4 with a quad core a6 chip next year, or even a a7 one. Plus B34$T has a point , the windows 8 tablets are looking really impressive. It is just a matter of time before the windows platform takes over apple again, History repeating itself.

With how long it took to convince my wife to let us get an iPad2 (Christmas present for our 3-year-old and Grandpa chipped in) this one's waaaaay off the radar and I'd be lucky to have a shot at an iPad4...

So, can someone tell me exactly what is improved from ipad 3 other than 1080 resolution and addition of siri?

Does the gpu upgrade gonna allow us with more compatible arcade roms?

    Already ordered mine :)

I don't care if it's only a marginal bump up from the iPad 2, it is still an improvement. When the iPad 3 comes out, I'll sell this one and get it. Same thing with the next one after that. It's what I do. I like new things.

Taking a pass on this one. My iPad 2 is still perfect for reading and my PS Vita fits all my gaming needs now.

This is what I keep saying. There are benchmarks that show the Slate 7 making the iPad 2 look like a little (bad word). And I doubt the iPad 3 will do much better. I plan on getting a Windows 8 tablet and turning my current laptop into an external hard drive. And think: Senseg, the makers of the "feely" haptic feedback, said they want their tech in tablets by the end of the year. What happens if we get a Win8 tablet with both Wacom and Senseg tech? Epicness

I too would like a real iTouch 5, but I bet we'll be stuck with what we have until the end of the year.

From my understanding, it has voice dictation but not Siri.

1080 is for HD video recording. GoofyJmaster is correct; no Siri. Also, the new iPad has a Retina Display, the processor is now quad-core, there is now 4G model, and the front-facing camera has received a major upgrade. More info: http://www.apple.com/ipad/

I'm going to ask again; anyone have the Smart Cover? I was thinking of ordering one to go along with my iPad, since it's apparently compatible with "iPad 2 and up", according to the Apple website.

would you be so kind to show thoose benchmarks slat vs ipad2 ? especially with thoose ancient low grade onboard gfx units i doubt the slate7 will be fast.

and you are again comparing apple with oranges.. people are debating if they can afford a 500$ tablet and you dream off imaginary products that will be way more expensive than any consumer tablet by faar.

Well this is the one for me. I was getting ready to buy an ipad 2 last year but was desapointed that the screen resolution wasn't really HD and disapointed in the camera. The resolution got fixed this this while the back camera got improved, still disapointed to see the vga camera in front still being crap.

But waiting a full year was hard enough so this time was it for me. Pre-ordered earlier today. Finally getting my tablet.

looking forward to play games other than on my old 3rd gen ipod touch.

    Apple to oranges...bollocks.

You can get the Slate 7 at damn near the same price as the 64GB iPad. It's not cheap but it's an investment. A better one than the iPad IMO. They're both tablets. I can't help if the Slate is a superior one.

You can find the link in the windows 8 thread I started. It's the tom's hardware one. He compares the Slate, both iPads, and some other tablets.

*Obviously they're going to make the Senseg stuff affordable. You can find potential mass manufacturing prices online. And the Senseg tech has been around for a while. It just hasn't been picked up.

then buy a slate7 if you think its so good and if you mean this article

    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...late,3079.html

the slate boots faster.. thats more or less it.. so thats the benchmark where the slate is so much better yes? wierd view onclear numbers.

potential numbers, potential hardware, potential os..

again for the mass market out there who are thoose who buy ipads &co an lowly scpeced tablet pc for 1000$+ wont cut it.. not because its to slow but because its too expensive..

why is the kindle fire a device that gets good sales ? because its so cheap not because its the best sevice out there..

and for many people the ipad is the current sweet spot for price and performance of an tablet ( not tablet pc)

thoose are customers who want an streamlined experience and easy usage.. they dont want to tabble in a registry to reenable a start menu..

maybe you should stop touting about the allmighty , can do it all for 4k$ solution, because thats not the mass market.

yes ipad is not for you fine.. but there is no better tablet yet in its weight class.

you search for an workstation replacement wich a consumer product never will be.

Windows 8 doesn't even have an official build. What you have is the consumer preview. Plus, you're the first person I've heard of getting a constant BSOD.

@Mr.Ugly There's 16 pages worth of test results. You have to click next page.

And sweet spot my butt crack. Are you kidding me? If everyone was jumping off roofs I wouldn't join in.
