and of course it makes it look sleek and clean I wish I could get a new MacBook but I just got an iMac a few months ago my parents definitely wouldn't go with a MBPro
Didn't they stop that savings when the 3G Touch came out? Or was that just the savings+touch deal? Also, what kind of school? Elementary? Junior High? High school? College? All of the above?
College if you're a student or administrator. The lower schooling only if an administrator, iirc. If you're in college, you're good. If you can hold out for a while, you might be able to get deeper savings. Black Friday is coming up, after all...and every once in a while I've seen Apple get in on that act. If you're not in college...well...I guess you could always buy yours through a school administrator...or a relative in college.
okay yeah i found a really neat video on what it is and how its made pretty cool http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/design.html#unibody talking about the unibody
Hey everyone, I am thinking about getting a MacBook Pro. I'm thinking about getting the computer, an Apple Magic Mouse, an Apple MagSafe Airline Adapter, and an Apple Remote. Here are all the customizations I'm thinking about getting to the MBP: Any tips? Anthing I should not get, get, or change? Price is not a concern.
It does, it just uses a multi touch gesture. :/ That mouse looks pretty damn nice though. Here are the videos in case you haven't seen them: iMac Enjoy. Johnny Ives certainly likes giving himself a pat on the back.
I'd avoid getting both iWork and MS Office, tbqh, especially when there's a version of OpenOffice.org for Mac OS X available (it's what I use). May not be as "full featured" as the official proprietary office suites Apple and MS bring out, but, tbqh, it's close enough particularly for everyday work. And it can open MS Office documents as well (and save to that format). Also, again, the size of the laptop will greatly depend on how you'll use it, when and where. 17" may not seem "big" in this day and age when we've seen 19" and 20" monstrosities from Dell and HP, but it's still pretty damned big for a laptop. And even though Apple laptops are usually lighter than the competition, 17" is still pretty big for a laptop. That's why I think of the 17", especially all decked out like that, as a suitable desktop replacement with greater mobility than an "everyday, everywhere" laptop. It's more of a desktop replacement that you can take with you when you travel (on trips, city to city)/sometimes laptop rather than an "everyday" sort of laptop. If you plan on using it mostly on the go (coffee shops, etc.) and for more everyday on the go usage at that, then I'd suggest the higher end, fully decked out and upgraded 15" model, which will cost you a bit less overall and will have either comparable or same specs as the fully decked out 17" model. If you don't care one bit about any sort of mobility, then I'd just suggest getting an iMac and fully decking that out with upgrades, as it'll be less expensive by far and more powerful as well. What you're paying for with the 17" inch model is a mobile desktop replacement with killer battery life should you want to use it outside of the home and on go on occasion and one when, used on the go, affords a bigger better screen resolution than the smaller laptops. What you're paying for with the 15" model is even greater mobility, and power comparable to other manufacturers laptops but overall better battery life than just about any other stock laptop on the market. With the iMac you're paying for probably the most powerful and easy to use "all-in-one" desktop computer on the market right now. Sadly anti-Apple heads like to point out how they can "build" a more powerful PC for less, but ignore the fact that they can't build nor buy a comparable "all-in-one" model for less or the fact that even comparing ATX tower PCs, either stock or build, to "all-in-ones" is just fudging stupid. This is mainly where the "venom" of those anti-Apple zealots is targeted, and unwisely so. Similar deal with the laptops. There aren't many or really any on the market with that sort of power combined with that sort of battery life. Apple fanboys are bad too (they'll forgive Apple anything, like the still overpriced IMHO Mac Mini), but the idea of Apple stuff as "rich man's" hardware is asinine when comparing the products to actual comparable competitor's products.
Thanks for all the help, spiffyone! Yeah, I'm going to be using this for mostly at home, and when I'm on trips. I just want the biggest and most powerful one, but within my price range (yes, I know, I said before "Price is not a concern". I lied.). And the iMac looks spectacular, but I still need mobility. And everyday activities, such as checking email, surfing the web, etc. can be done from my iPod touch. The MacBook Pro will be for working, designing, and easily and quickly surfing the web when I'm at home/vacationing. I'm going to not get iWork, but only Office '08, because that's what I've used my whole life and switching would be fairly difficult. Thanks for the help!
