At the end of the day, they both have merit, and for now, it just comes down to 3D vs graphical prowess, at least till they're both released and we all get a chance to play them. I'm off now as well, but the next topic can be.... Books vs Movies
Haha, agreed there. It's more convenient and relaxing, for me at least. I'm not saying I don't like books (I do enjoy a good book here and there), but I just find it more convenient to pop in a movie and relax and watch it. You most likely have one for almost any mood you're in, so enjoying a movie to fit your mood is much easier than trying to read through an entire book. Not only that, but you can have a bunch of people over to watch a movie and hang out... I don't think you'll be inviting people over to read with you. That said, books do have their advantages. They can be used anywhere, and don't need an electronic player to use them, meaning more convenience. They last much, much longer and leave more imagination to the reader, allowing them to picture the events in the book as they want, rather than one definite way a character looks or even takes place. Books also leave more room for interpretation and ambiguity, which can be a good thing. And to Paradiso's comment about not staying up all night for a movie, all I have to say is Inception. I stayed up one night watching it then discussing the movie with a friend of mine. So in effect, I sort of spent all night focused on that movie.
I would pretty much agree. Movies are more entertaining, but books have more value and depth. In addition, wouldn't inception be so much better as a book by a good author?
I really don't know... A lot of the sound and visuals are what made Inception so good. They tricked you frequently, and I have a hard time seeing how some of that could be described in book form as well as in the movie. Nonetheless, if it was written by a good author, I could see it being a great book.
Movies are easy for me to get into. However, books feel like work. Still, there are a fair share of books I will read.
Stupid back button, short version of my post: Books > movies cuz moar detailz and literature books would be boring as hell as movies.
They do more harm. However, I would be against prohibition of firearms, because prohibition is always a failure if there's a market for the product.
yeah, if they prohibited guns, black market gun dealers would get filthy rich and most likely many criminal organizations along with them. That said, guns do more harm then good.
Yep. What we don't need is loopholes where you can legally purchase a gun at a gun show without ID. btw, how did you do on your essay SJP?
I agree K, it happens all the time and many die from it. So more harm. Only good is maybe protection.
This debate cannot be fully explored because we don't know what life would be like if we did NOT have the right to bear arms. We could have been enslaved by a maniacal tyrant long ago...
Also Brazilian rider has a point. Next, preview of next topic: Sony vs. Geohot; is Sony going to far?
