My app iSmoke has just been released on the app store. It is an interactive smoke simulator which makes it look like you're smoking a pipe, cigarette or a cigar. Check out the video

what type of engine do you use for the smoke physics? did you write your own algorithm?

Ocarina was awesome (sadly, I have a touch). Not so sure about this. You blow into the microphone, smoke comes out, you can kinda whish it around and stuff... then what? Maybe a Sherlock Holmes impersonation???

I used a navier stokes based algorithm for the smoke sim and wrote everything from scratch with objective C and opengl. No physics engine used.

    I like this.. a lot!
the smoke effect looks really cool! I'll try to make a puzzle on a next episode based on this probably :)

( I'll have to think about an alternate way for the ipod touch)

For people that are saying this is a "crapp"

This person put some solid time into this writing their own algorithm and everything, and it's just impressive to see what the iPhone can do. I don't believe it's a "crapp", but will it come in use often? Probably not, but it's still cool.
I think it's a nice effort, and these are the types of things that could potentially translated into other apps or games for the iPhone and such (maybe, idk?). I think it looks good at least...:)

    Agreed.

Also, if developers are kind enough to come on here and discuss their app, why be so childish and simply say "this app is crap". If you don't like the app, great, but if you're going to post about it atleast say why you don't like it and/or give ways to improve it. How are you adding to the conversation by saying "this app is crap"?

Thanks for the support. This app was actually submitted to Apple 3 months ago and was the first app I wrote for iPhone. I've been working on a couple of games since then, one of which will use the smoke sim as part of the gameplay.
They will be released soon after the new year, please subscribe to my blog at www.kattegames.com if you would like to be notified of the release of those games.

I'm sorry, but I just HAVE to point that out :D
I'm not sure about this app though. Usually smoking involves the inhalation of well, smoke. Pretty cool graphics though even if they are over the top, I mean, pipes and cigarettes don't make that much smoke...

Seems kinda interesting...but I kinda don't understand the point, just like I don't with stuff like iBeer. Interesting for a little while, but unless I'm showing it off to a friend, it doesn't really suit me.
