    Having a blast so far.

And even some of the earliest puzzles can be a bit tricky. There was one in the second set that I almost gave up on ... but I finally got it by squinting one eye and saying the alphabet backwards.

I normally don't care too much about achievements — they're usually fun, but they're not my reason for playing. But NH Puzzle is the first game where I really want to eventually sweep all the awards.

Well, if you have a hint or a the solution to puzzle 2.09, I'll take it with gratitude.

Yeah, that's a tough one ... probably the best of the early puzzles.

Even though I'd solved it yesterday morning, I still needed four tries to do it again just now. It's a really delicate solution.

I'll tell you what: keep trying, because I'm sure that if I can get it, then anyone can (I'm a decent NH player, but not a world-beater). If you still don't have it done in a few days, I can PM you with some clues.

I ended up picking this up upon release rather than getting NH and I'm having a blast! I'm new to the series but studied a lot of the game mechanics prior to playing as well as the tutorial in-game, instructions, and board pieces to better understand. Everything is very well executed across the board. The graphics are crisp, colorful, diverse/unique factions, the sounds are very nice, the in-game info at any time, small stories before each puzzle, and the progression in difficulty is great.

I've been playing on and off daily since I picked it up and it's very fun and addictive. Finally a game where you really have to take all things into consideration, strategize, plan out everything ahead of time, and think out every single move(I feel like my brain has been missing out :p). I'm now currently on level 5.2(Half a Moloch) and can't wait to proceed where I left off. I will definitely be picking up NH once I finished NHM. I have experienced one bug so far where the game shuts down after either I put my device on sleep mode or exit out of it for a sec to multi-task something? I don't mind it for the most part because the puzzles aren't long(but the ability to save would be welcomed). Other than that, the game performs very smoothly at all times.

*If I could add one thing to the game, it would be having the ability to watch a replay of the level(s) you've finished either step-by-step or slow mo/fast forward/normal speed/rewind so I can further study and understand the game better. There are times when I complete a puzzle and wish I could go back to see everything I've just done because it happens so fast once you hit execute rather than replaying the level, hoping you remember exactly what you did to earn the victory. I can safely say it's currently my favorite board/puzzle game for iOS. ;)

I'm not having as much fun as other people. I can see it's a good game and appreciate it for what it is, but there's just too much thinking involved. Now I don't mind thinking, but staring at the screen and thinking without actually interacting isn't very fun for me. I've also been playing Aqueduct which can also get pretty tough but it's the way you're constantly moving pieces around that keeps that game entertaining. This is closer to something like chess which could result in 10 minutes without even touching my iPod while I try and figure out what to do.

Definitely not a bad game though, it's just helped me define the line of which puzzle/strategy genres I can't get into.

Midian, out of curiosity, are you not enjoying the original NH, or is it NH Puzzle? (both?)

I ask because I can see where even some NH fans might not be that into Puzzle. The whole "you only get one turn!" thing is not going to seem fun to everyone.

NH Puzzle. I haven't played the original since it was recommended I start here. I can actually imagine that one being better now you mention it...

I know what you mean. I can only imagine how good MH will be with an empty board, the freedom of placement, movement, more than one round, and applying what I'm learning from playing NHP. Should be pretty promising...

    Yeah, they are different beasts.

NH Puzzle is the correct name for that app — those are definitely puzzles you are solving. And some of the situations are so contrived that you'll never, ever see them in a real game of NH.

But NH itself is a full-fledged game: multiple turns of tactical goodness with lots of interesting choices to be made on every turn.

One thing I like about NH Puzzle is that I think it's making me a better NH player. But, at the same time, I understand that I'm really just using a series of keys to fit into a series of different locks.

Ok, I'm feeling like a dufus. Anyone know the solution to "Rock and Roll"?

    Edit:

I got it! I didn't realize that the Runner could move WITHOUT the move tile.

Also, I'm loving this game. There are lot of nuanced moves and skills that I'm learning from the varied puzzles that I wouldn't have picked up if I played N.Hex straight up. This is an ingenious way to hone our N.Hex skill levels and gain a deeper understanding of the layers of abilities and strategies available. Great call, Big Daddy.

That was one of our main goals - to teach new NSHex tactics :)

I keep being amazed by how many scenarios I would have lost in the main game that you can win in NHP.

    It's preparing me for multiplayer:cool:

The first thing that's occurred to me: I could be using most of the modules in better ways.

In the past, some modules have been almost automatic discards for me. But NH Puzzle has shown me how valuable they can be in certain situations.

Well, modules are great for some armies and less great for other. I.e. when playing The Hegemony you can inflict a 3-5 strength melee hit with a single unit if you get it connected to your HQ and melee power-up module.

If I haven't played Neuroshima Hex before should I get this or the original game? I was wondering if this had any tutorials or taught the game to you in any way?

You should definitely start with Neuroshima Hex: Puzzle. It's much easier to learn the rules with this one. But of course it's different form the original game, which is basicaly a tactical game, not a puzzle game.

If you like Neuroshima Hex: Puzzle, well, we're more than sure you'll get the Neuroshima Hex original game also :)

Agreed. I would play puzzle first as it really helps you learn how to play the game (and is a lot of fun). That said regular Neuroshima Hex is the superior game as it obviously has a lot more replay value and multiplayer. Me and my friends love this App!

Side note: I was one of the lucky ones to win this free through their competition. Thanks so much BigDaddysCreations! I loved this game and it made me a better hex player. Looking forward to the expansion packs!
