Really enjoying this game a lot. Didn't quite know what to expect but I'm glad I took the plunge.

I really love the game, never thought I'd like it at first but buying it's one of the best ideas i ever had. Great game and online MP and fast switching is all I'm waiting for.

Also unit descriptions during gameplay would be fun too.

    GOOD JOB!

    Game Impressions

Really enjoying it so far. A few thoughts from someone who never played the board game:

    - Game is not a CCG, but has that kind of feel. I can see how expansions would work for it.

    - Agree with the sentiment that it's not very newbie friendly. I've played a few games and my biggest complaint would be the tiles aren't clear in some cases. More on this later.

    - I couldn't care less about online multiplayer. AI seems pretty good for now.

    - One of the great things about playing board games in video game form is that we can leverage the computational/display power of the platform. It's not "true to the game" but showing bonuses in green would really help me understand what bonuses are applied, and how.

    - Tiles need quick tips when I pick them to understand how they work. Most units are fine. I'm more confused with the 'modules' and similar.

Really interested in this game but I have never played a board game which is anything like Neuroshima Hex before, will I struggle to understand this app or is there a tutorial?

There is an in-game manual reference (accessible while playing) and a tutorial video. It's not the easiest game to get the hang of, but not too bad. After watching the video once and playing ~5 rounds (about one hour), I understand most/all of the rules (though I'm at 1 win, 10 losses vs. the easy computer) :)

EDIT: Quick Reference guide is worth a read http://www.headlesshollow.com/downloads/games/NeuroshimaHex_v1.pdf

We know it's not the easiest game and that in-game info is missing (we're working hard to add it as fast as possible), but learning how to play is really possible :)

BigDaddy isn't lying here. I never played the board game before downloading it from itunes and I have had no problem picking up the game and understanding how to play. The developer really has included everything you need to play and understand the game. Not to mention the developer has already said they're working on an update to implement more help features into the game.

What I am really looking forward to is the surprise BigDaddysCreations hinted about in a previous post. I hope that surprise hasn't been pushed too far back with the other requests. Great job BDC!

    Yes it is!

Just kludge your way through a few quick games, then come back to the manual, then play again. A few things still catch me off guard, but I learned the game this way. Stick to two player games until you feel comfortable, it's easier to track all the effects.

Yea, I agree. It's not hard to pick up at all. I am completely new to the game. I got beat by the AI real bad the first few games, but after looking over the manual (you can look at it in the pause screen during any game real easy) I've picked it up quickly and feel like an expert now. Now I'm regulary beating up on the AI, although it usually puts up a good challenge. I'm looking forward to a possible future update with harder AI and most especially online multiplayer. This game is already great fun, when multiplayer is added, if it's done well will be truly strategy gaming at it's finest.

Oh I agree. I tried Red v. Green once on hard AI and got beaten pretty bad, but it was right before going to sleep, so I wasn't totally in it...

Same here. Pay close attention to what is going on during the game especially during battle watching initiative and damage and figuring out how they are calculated.

Someone in an earlier thread suggested that modifiers to a unit be quantified when you roll over a unit in green text or something. I personally think this would be a "BIG" mistake and take away from one of the best aspects of this game which is situational awareness. I love thinking that I have it all figured out and know the outcome for a battle is to my advantage. So I initiate battle just to find out that an obscure range unit has initiative 4 and pegs one of my units which throws everything off and once again I have my ass handed to me. :D

Also the use of symbols vs. numbers for most abilities is very appealing.

Great game, loving every minute of it and can't wait for DLC to become available.

From the games twitter account (@neuroshimahex)
"No ETA now. Next relase will contain only bugfixes, another one should contain new features (like tile info). Then multiplayer and iPad."

I haven't found this too difficult to pick up at all! I didn't bother watching the tutorial however I did read a bit of the manual to understand some of the symbols etc. Now I'm playing 3 player matches (and winning some) and planning my moves and weighing my options ahead of time!

I have to say this is a great addition to the boardgames available on the iDevices! With the updates that BigDaddy is promising it is sure to be an even better title than it already is!

If you're a boardgame fan pick this up! You'll learn how to play in no time!! Who reads instructions anyways?!?!;);)

Of course multiplayer is planned. GC support also. In-game help also.
Next release will contain only bugfixes, but releases after the next one will bring new functionalities (probably in-game help will be the first one).
