I agree. What was the reason behind using email? Worse yet, you have to enter a user's email each time you want to play them, and does this even send a notification? (I'm guessing it just sends an email.) Ugh. Terrible. Which is a shame because I just played a game with random folks and it was great fun. This game had the chance to be as great as Carcassonne or Ascension. So close NH, but yet so far... (Side comment: Why can't you undo in an online game even before submitting your turn? I accidently dropped a tile a space too soon but was stuck with it.)
This applies to me as well. I have over 150 GameCenter "friends" and I only two of their e-mails, my wife and my best friend. What was the rationale behind not using GameCenter?
I hate to see all the negative attention this long-awaited update is getting right out of the gate, but putting out a game with asynchronous multiplayer components in 2012 without integrating with Game Center is a bizarre choice. The tools to add Game Center to your app are right there for you. Let's hope the developer is able to add this in relatively quickly before enthusiasm for the asynchronous update loses momentum.
See you guys are a bit disappointed with our approach to private games. We hope you can manage to get your friends' e-mails after all and enjoy Neuroshima Hex with your friends. We plan to add GC integration and inviting friends by push notifications sent directly to other player's app, but this is not as easily implemented the way we want it to work as fiveolddogs says.
I have no problem using email personally. I managed with carcassone before they added GC support. presently there are other issues I feel need p be addressed. -it's hard to tell when it's your turn in async matches -the games you have going get put in the same place as all the other general games which makes things confusing. -no undo button on your turn. I also placed a unit by accident in the wrong orientation (but right hex) and was stuck that way.
I registered for the online, attempted to create a private match. The game crashed. I restarted the app, and now when I login to the online, it tells me I am the only online player and then the app crashes after a few seconds. This has happened several times, including after a reboot. Playing on an iPhone 4. My username is Riggy. If someone from Big Daddy could fix this, it would be appreciated.
Sounds like something is messed up with your install. I'm not with Big Daddy, but until they respond, I will suggest you delete the app and redownload and reinstall. This will start you from scratch. Since you already paid for the app, you will not be charged a second time for the download.
just wanted to chime in to say that im getting crashes now. mabe this is a server issue? was similar earlier in the day then went away. cant really take any of my turns at the moment
It's definitely a server issue the same thing happened to me this morning. It cleared up for a bit but now it's back to crashing. There is just too much deman on the servers with all the new layers signing up, chat, and games. I don't mind using email for now. If only because that means we can play against android users so the online community will be much bigger. But I'd love to be able to tap a name in the chat list so I can send them a game request. I'd also love an option to put the tile selector on the left side of the screen. A large portion of a game is spent looking at the back of my hand because I'm constantly reaching across the screen. I wouldn't mind being able to move the skip button to the top right either.
Best online multiplayer turn based game on app store and one of the best strategy game getting so much fun! I HAVE A REQUEST..l and I am sure it is very easy to implement and will turn the game alooot more fun and strategic... I hope you add the ability to make teams... Instead of 4 all against each other, make 2 vs 2... Where the 1st is the team with 3rd and 2nd are in team with 4th.. And the winner is the sum of 1st and 3rd team HQ vs the 2nd and 4th team HQ... What you think????????? It is very easy to implement and will get the game to a whooooole new level!!!!
Another very crummy Retina-iPad implementation. I'm getting used to disappointment, sadly. Carcassonne is one of the only apps to 'get it.'
I'm encountering weird bugs where the base doesn't attack even though it should and the white protector against long range attack isn't working. I play green faction against red
Yeah, Carcassonne pretty much gets everything about async functionality (though UniWar has got it squarely beat in some areas, and in some, they both, and all other async games, lack). Whenever I come across a dev working on async for a favourite game of mine, I advice them to take a close look at Carcassonne for almost all asynchronous mechanics and features. I did so earlier in this thread as well, when Big Daddy's Creations announced async was coming, but it seems they either did not take the advice, or have not had time to implement all the niceties and comforts of an async system of Carcassonne's polish.
My only issue with carcassonne's async is that you must watch all moves taken since you last played with that device. When I'm at home I play with my iPad and when I'm out I use my iPhone 4. When I finally launch carcassonne on my iPhone I have to watch a day's worth of moves. It's so aggravating that I had to stop using my iPhone to play online.
Installed the update and got the push notification prompt on load. Online is working as well! Let's get some TA games started
Game Impressions I've been out of the loop a bit but am loving how: -Modified unit values are clearly displayed (the blue text lets me know this value is not one initially printed on that unit). -It's SUPER easy to bring up info on any unit in play! It was those two aspects that turned me off from playing this game ages ago and now that they're resolved, watch out (although I plan to practice up against AI before I take any of you on as my grasp of the various factions is still pretty sketchy).
Yes, I agree it's very easy now with the info tool. Also, they have fixed a bug. When you had selected a tile to discard in your turn and you had 2 tiles of 3, then when you click on pause and resume back again, you had 3! But now you have 2 as it was before pause. I believe that they could improve rules and units reading without so many clicks. But the info tool is great. It's definitely one of my favourite games in iphone4 and I'm happy that I have an iphone and not android.
