Possibly controversial but even though I like this type of game, I don’t like Vampire Survivors, I don’t get the hype for it. So I always end up playing that. naghihimutuc, elcrazy, anthony78 and 1 other person like this. ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,774 1,003 113 #9 ste86uk, May 22, 2024 @sebgo @Rocco SE my first time playing Vampire Survivors was on iOS when it came out. I thought the graphics were terrible but I know it’s more about gameplay with games but aesthetics does have an effect on how I feel about games. Anyway, I just didn’t get the hype for it, it was just what I’d done in other games but uglier. Unless I’m missing something? Maybe it’s nostalgia for people since it was the original wasn’t it? sebgo likes this. sebgo Well-Known Member Dec 26, 2010 835 399 63 Male 95% leisure. I know how you feel about the visual impact, although for me the art style was a plus since I'm a fan of Castlevania on NES. My first VS-like experience was with Knob Hero and mechanics immediately hooked me. Then I played 20 Minutes Till Dawn and, of course, it was a better experience due to the additional mechanics, characters and different weapons. Then VS suddenly hit the store and there's nothing else like it for me now, and there's no nostalgia value in it for me (beyond the aforementioned NES game). I've tried a few other games in the genre, but I don't stick to any of them. The sense of discovery with every weapon upgrade you learn, the amount of available characters to unlock (I think the base game has like 40+), arcana modifiers for weapons, permanent interchangeable base stats upgrades, great soundtrack, increasing content via DLC, a huge bestiary, hectic weapon combos that make for a great show of VFX, best price tag and no ads, consumable IAPs nor subscriptions... and it's the OG game, which is usually expected to be surpassed by competition. If the art style is such a turndown for you, there's nothing we can do to change your mind. Gameplay experience and content wise, though, I think you might be missing on the greatest title in the genre; and no clone, free-to-play nor paid, has been able to improve on that, not even with their unique takes on the formula. elcrazy likes this. elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 707 562 93 #11 elcrazy, May 23, 2024 Same here iOS was my first VS experience. I have tried all the others. Usually played them for a day or so. VS just has better gameplay. The weapon system in VS seems a cut above the rest. So much to discover. Everything works so well. You feel so powerful on some runs. The new updates have added so much more fun to be had when I thought I was done. Sadly I won’t even be trying this one. If I want this gamestyle nothing comes close to VS. Samuel Dodee Well-Known Member Mar 27, 2024 59 37 18 Male #12 Samuel Dodee, May 23, 2024 Cute pixel art graphics? With a bunch of evolved weapons or in some of the later and newer stages the game often looks (to me) downright phenomenal, seriously. Pixel art perfection. sebgo and elcrazy like this.
