    Hello everybody!

I am in need of an HTML knowledgeable person who can help me with something. So I need to have a slideshow of game banner advertisements much like the Squid Drop banner on the TA front page. However I need the banners to redirect (when clicked) to the app on itunes or the devs homepage. Each banner needs to redirect to its specific location. I also need the banners to rotate every few seconds i was thinking 15-45 seconds per banner. If someone has the know-how on how to accomplish this PLEASE!!!! Help me out!!! I am in dire need of this!! I have searched google high and low but to no avail.

    Cheers!

So I had to take screenshots of a specific TA page then crop it so that I got the banner i wanted, then i had to add HTML code to redirect a click on the banner to the itunes link....such a pain ughhhh...but i got it working now. its pretty cool, especially for someone who knows nothing of HTML programming or javascript or anything really :D

  4. These days you can piece together almost anything with canned scripts. If you're keen to learn, W3Schools is about the best place to learn everything web-based free of charge.

Ok now I have run into another issue.

The screenshot fo toucharcade with the 3 rotator banners on the right hand side, I need to achieve this function on the screenshot next to it (my website)
I added 3 HTML/Javascript widgets and inserted the code I needed to make the banners rotate. But I dont want to have the title "Support Our Sponsors" and I don't want large gaps between the widgets. I want it too look like the TA 3 banner section...any thoughts on how to do this? I looked in the HTML code of my website and I cannot remove the "title='Support Our Sponsors' without errors. And I wasn't able to find and <br> tags to remove inorder to make the 3 widgets gaps smaller.

    Any assistance would be appreciated!!!!!!!

  8. Unfortunately, this is where we get into the murkier details of Blogspot that I know nothing about. When I blogged I ran WordPress on custom hosting, so I was able to edit and change anything I wanted, from the main site HTML to all stylesheets to all widgets, back-end scripts and plugins, and so on, to make the site look and behave as I wanted it to. I have no idea what Blogspot lets you do or what its CMS capabilities are, though I assume it is limited to some degree (i.e. you probably don't have access to modify the back-end CMS source or stuff like that, correct? I'm just guessing here). I could tell you how to do it in WordPress because that's the only CMS I have experience with, but Blogspot is a complete unknown to me.

Would it be possible for me to copy the HTML code from blogger and paste it into the HTML editor in wordpress so that I can have the same design and customization but have it in wordpress?

I don't think blogger will allow me to modify the back end CMS stuff...but im not sure as I am new to all this coding and stuffs.

Anyone who has used blogger extensively would you mind helping me out with a few things? I would greatly appreciate it.

  11. Only to a certain degree. Again, I don't know how Blogger works, but I'm betting there's a bunch of CSS you don't have access to at the very least. Is your site live or are you still getting it all set up? Because if it's the latter, now would be the best time to decide if you want to stick with Blogger or go with WordPress and custom hosting. (Note: WordPress.com is not the same thing as WordPress.org. WordPress.com is like Blogger and other free blog sites; limited access to the back-end, you can only modify it so much. WordPress.org is where you go to customize your own custom-installed, self-hosted WordPress blog.)

Mind you, if you have limited knowledge of HTML and CSS, now would not be a good time to wrestle with a custom WordPress blog. It's a little on the complicated side and does expect you to have at least some HTML, and preferably CSS experience.

Yeah, that's an absolutely enormous logo. It should be visible and obvious but it shouldn't dominate the page, and this thing takes up 2/3rds of my screen real-estate, and I'm running in 2048x1152. Cut that beast down to 1/3 to 1/4 its size and we'll talk.

Other immediate observations: Static backgrounds with a content overlay that scrolls are a gimmicky trick, but they perform like total crap. Scrolling is extremely jerky in Firefox, and I have a pretty fast system. Lose that and go with a simple background gradient. It's more lightweight, loads quicker, and doesn't rape browser performance.

The colour scheme is off-putting. Pure red ($FF0000) is Web 1.0 stuff, and it looks terrible on a gray background -- hard to read, so your sidebar links bleed. Stay away from the gimmicky transparent backgrounds, go with something easy on the eyes and pick a colour that has more than one value for your text links.

Show more than 4 posts per page. 10 is a good number. If an article gets unnecessarily long you can always hide some of it behind a break.

If you're going to have a theme with more than one sidebar, pick one that gives more horizontal space to the articles. Your site looks cramped right now, with the content squeezed into the middle column and the left column looking too self-important with the twitter feed.

Those are my initial impressions anyway.
