Tilt controls on racing games on iOS are the only way to go. Any racing game I've played with touch controls is a lot less precise.
I like the touch left & right to steer ,but I think the reason they choose the tilt to steer is so you can enjoy the visuals of the game more so your fingers don't get in the way of the graphics & fun
I find it the other way round..... Tilt controls are inaccurate and touch controls are much easier to handle.
The point is not if somebody like tilt or not... The point is why they DON'T give us the option to choose as almost EVERY other racing game... To lock only on one mode for the controls i think is a big drop down... For example i don't have a standard prefer (it is something variable for me from game to game) but when i am playing on my iPad and not iPhone, it is almost impossible (for me) to play more than 30 minutes a game with tilt controls, because it is a heavy device!!! Anyway i hope to give us all the options for the controls this time... P.S: I m curious they don't read the people complaints? I understand to make the first, even the second game in the series with only tilts just to promote this awesome (back then) iPhone feature... but ALL??? Even the most recently like Pursuit...
Even though I, myself, much prefer tilt, I agree. They really should have on-screen options too, but how do we know they don't have them? Did it say so somewhere? I don't get people like you saying tilt is inaccurate though... You have the whole car in your control and as long as you don't move it quickly you'll stay on track and if you're turning, but slipping, it's easy to rebalance. I find touch controls slow, like they don't turn the car fast enough. They're only good for drifting.
Here's an interesting one. Iron Monkey studios are developing it. They also developed Need for Speed Undercover and Shift for ios and of course Dead Space and Infiltrator (dropping the Mass Effect in that title). Personally, I think Undercover was the best of the iOS Need for Speed games and Shift was very good when it came out, even if Shift 2 was a disappointment. It does bode very well for the graphics and environments though as Iron Monkey are masters at that and for the most part get touch screen controls spot on. Vehicles will also have damage over the course of a race similar to Real Racing 2 but with more body damage and not limited to bumpers and mirrors. Little bit surprised that Firemint is not developing this for EA but also kinda glad because I could really do with a Real Racing 3.
Its the first Shift that got the bad ratings and is no longer in the app store. The second one is pretty good, I find, with set tracks, vehicles you can upgrade, extra challenges and multiplayer.
Nice! Fan of Iron Monkey, because Undercover and Dead Space are one of my all time favorite mobile games by EA
The first wasn't pulled because of bad ratings. Any review of it at time of launch gave it a good rating, silver and gold primarily. The bad reviews on the app store only came when it obviously became dated compared to Real Racing 2. With the release of the second one, it was heavily criticised for being a simple rehash of the first with nothing new added. It had slightly, and I mean slightly, improved graphics and a couple of new cars. Otherwise no difference at all, it was like playing a slight update to the same game which was all it was. That is also why the first one was removed, they were essentially the same game. It is also the primary reason Need for Speed The Run never launched. It was simply another update to the first Shift. Everything you say about Shift 2 is what made the first one good at launch in 2010. It also made Shift 2 seem dated and obsolete and The Run a complete waste of time. There was no real change and the first one is still the best one of the two (or three if you count The Run). Either way it matters little now because despite it being in pre beta, Most Wanted looks amazing so far and will only look better on release. Iron Monkey know how to make a good game and the destruction inflicted on the cars during racing, bumpers, mirrors, windows, side panels, etc. look like a great addition. Even the spoiler on the Porsche moves as its supposed to by raising and lowering at different speeds.
Sorry only the console version will be freeroam, but really that's to be expected the ios version wont have everything the console version does, but the graphics on the ios version looks close to console,& the cops in this game actually put up a fight & make things alot more fun
What would be cool is if playing with the iOS version boosted your most wanted rating on the console game....seeing as its all on autolog.
I see my poor wording. I wasn't trying to say it was pulled because of bad ratings, but I see that's how it came across. I didn't play the first Shift so did not know the second one was pretty much the same - that being said, Shift 2 is fun as a stand alone game. The Run was cancelled for ios because the console version was a flop in its first few weeks in the stores. The developers thought it would sell like Hot Pursuit, and it didn't sell anything like they were expecting, so they cancelled making it for the iphone. I got the game for the Playstation 3 a few weeks ago, and it is sooooo fun. Would have loved to play it on the ipad or iphone too.
From what i've seen so far: - tilt control only - no tuning, no open world - great graphics and damage model - exactly the same as older NFS games. it's definitely built on the cancelled "the run" version for iOS. BAD EA. BAAAAAAD!!!!! f*ck tilt controls.
Wait hold up... what does that mean, "no online multiplayer, all connectivity will be done through a synchronous means" Someone please explain... as no online multiplayer + only tilt controls = fail imo and if that is the case, I'll defo skip this and settle with Asphalt 7.
No online multiplayer, as in there will be no head-to-head racing with others over the internet. There will only be leaderboards. Idk I love touch controls as much as the next guy, but even so I've found the motion controls NFS uses to be very playable, and I had no problem with them in previous games. I doubt they will be any different. And to whoever said no tuning above, pretty sure this will have some form of that. Every NFS for iOS not named "Most Wanted" had it.
