Why (no, really why)? IAPs are the single biggest problem to plague mobile gamers in this day and age. Discussing and arguing about them is an intellectual thing to do. Always helps me to not buy a game if the IAPs are implemented in a flawed manner.
Censorship now? This is the NFSMW thread and you want to forcibly prevent discussion of NFSMW IAPs here? TA's moderation continues to amaze me.
51 Days? Thank you very much! Second Sun or Planet X? Echoseven said: There are IAP talks going on in FOUR threads now... 4 Dude... Endless discussion for you!
Discussing IAP as it relates to the game is perfectly fine in my book. We're getting to the stage where the conversation is straying into the realms of IAP in general, and "no, **** you"s. Before the insults start flying, it's time to let it go and move on. I will admit I'm getting sick of reading the same conversations over and over again (especially in five threads from this week alone). I can show you censorship if you like. Really guys, feel free to carry on if you'd rather, but don't start insults. I'm not censoring anyone as much as attempting to prevent what is inevitably the next step in these "discussions".
Insults have already flown. Tons of them in this thread alone. But I guess you already saw those right?
Hmm. Games where you can get upgrades, collect characters, unlock characters or cars have mostly included some element of grind for a completionist to 'catch em all'. This concept pre-dates IAP literally by decades. One way to look at it is how would you feel about the replaying necessary to achieve the game's objectives if IAP were not present? Is the IAP just a shortcut in a game where the payouts are otherwise balanced within the norms of games without IAP? I believe NFSMW is within the range of past games without IAP and I do not expect to be able to unlock all 40+ cars on one play through with no repeating. I would expect, with over 40 cars on offer, that it would take days of playing to be able to earn them all.
Sure, but my objection isn't that I can't unlock them all (never understood the "gotta catch em all" mentality actually). My objection is at having to replay races just to be able to progress through the campaign. Obviously if you lose a race it's normal to have to replay it, but if I'm meeting the objectives set by the game in each race then I should be able to progress. I never had to grind in RR or A7 for example, and I certainly haven't had to do it in any console/PC racer (though I tend to play more serious/sim type racers on those platforms, not arcade racers).
"My objection is at having to replay races just to be able to progress through the campaign." I'm not sure that you do. Or that if you do it's any different from older pre-IAP games in this regard. Spending currency earned in-game doesn't count of course as the currency earned is part of the progression balancing.
I do have a question for Firemonkeys, if they are still reading. What happens to IAPs if I delete and then re-install the game? Are they preserved? Is the currency available to *possibly spend differently* than on the play through prior to deleting? I am not oblivious to the idea that IAP may be an issue and am curious how it works. Would resist IAP if it is entirely lost when I delete the game.
I have tried it on my Ipod Touch 5. It doesn't run as smooth as it does on my iPad2 and when I take out a car and it shows the crash in slow motion, it really starts to lag. When the cut scene is over, it goes back to normal. It runs ok on the Touch5 but not and smooth as I had hoped. On the iPad2 though, it runs great.
I get inflamations in the arms very quick. Not everyone is healthy. So touching left and right side of the screen like in Asphalt 7 or many other racers is much better for me and shouldnt be to difficult to program. And I am by far not the only one who prefers this kind of touch control.
I have only played the game a little so far, but I can tell that unlike Aspahlt 7, you unfortunate get payed WAY less than you do in Aspahlt, but the cars cost the same. I also learned that car upgrades last only 1 race, which is really stupid. However, I have read the past couple of pages, and it seems like alot of people hate Asphalt 7: Heat with a passin. Why is that?
Hope they push out an update to fix this issue. I've yet to play the game, but from the looks of it, this is a bit of a problem, since the iPod Touch 5th gen. should be able to run the game extremely well.
Yeah, I agree with you, this thread has taken a turn for the worse. It was actually more entertaining when it was a NFS vs Asphalt 7 thread, but now all this IAP discussing is getting a little grating on the ears, or maybe some would say grinding on the ears...
He clearly has no idea why he hates it... Lol the reason why I like NFS MW better (way better) is because you get the right amount of money to make the game an actual challenge. Everyone knows that gameloft made asphalt a little too easy (not saying that I'm "pro" at the game... I'm not) NFS adds a great challenge where at times it's difficult to get first, that is unless you go replay other missions to earn more money and buy an updated car with mods. Asphalt isn't too bad though, and for $.99, that's a steal!/
