The iPad 3 (3rd) Gen is the biggest Hardware Junk Apple had produced in the last couple of Years if you are a Gamer.

Guess why less then six Months later they had to upgrade the Hardware?!

Is this your first Need for Speed Game? It has been since Centuries that you can`t buy the most expensive Car straight from the Beginning and have to increase your Level/Fame Level and your Bankaccount through Races so you are able to get the faster Cars. The Mod-System is the same.

No hard feelings here about what you wrote since i prefer to have an Open Mind if it comes to critic and therefore I would like to explain a few things why I do enjoy playing Need for Speed Most Wanted more then I do playing Asphalt 7:

The Racing Genre is as old as I can remember back without getting to dizzy. Games like Pole Position or Outrun that I had played during my Childhood at the Arcade (Prater!) and grow up with till I got my first Personal Computer that could run Grand Prix without blowing up during it (I mean it literally since I had a long time a PC that had such an bad Power Supply that my Mouse did Vibrate while I was using my PC!) and made me completly sink into the Racing Genre till I had the Perfect Setting ready for each Track.

Since then I have played every damn Racing Game I could get my Fingers on doesn`t matter which System it might have been or how hard it was to get on the victory podium in it.

While a few Titles manage to stay in my Memories since the first Time I had played them (I still remember my first Crash in Outrun, the perfect Settings for a few of the Original Grand Prix Tracks or my first Jump in SEGA Rally or like in this Case which Car I had played the first time time after I had bought the Original The Need for Speed for my 3DO and what Song played at that time at the Radio) none Gameloft Asphalt Title managed to set it Marks in my Memorys.

Don´t get me wrong. The last Game in the Asphalt Franchise, Asphalt 7: Heat isn`t bad but since Gameloft had at that time the agenda to literally make every of their Games a Freemium Title even on the cost of the Gameplay I didn`t bother after a few Days later to keep playing it anymore simple because through the hole Game I`m always got remembered that I am playing an Freemium Title with a huge among of iAP and Gameloft even does remember you about the Feature if you don`t kill their Auto Messages from their damn Server that keeps spamming you with useless Mesages.

Since we all know that Gameloft had changed it`s behavior in the last few Weeks/Months to the better I`m eager to see how the next Racing Game from Gameloft will do but seeing how much Real Racing 3 is offering so far in the last Build I have seen last time it will be a long Road for Gameloft to reach that kinda of Quality/Feature Level in the upcoming Months without some Help from Extern.

    To come to an End:

Yes, Asphalt 7: Heat has an bigger Feature List with Online Multiplayer and Local One at the same time but if it comes to the Car & Graphic Physic and the overall Gameplay Ubisoft/Gameloft is, same as with their Football Franchise and their Ball Physic, Miles away from Electronic Arts/FireMonkeys.

I simple don`t care about a longer Feature List if a Game doesn`t do the only thing that it has to do the right Way or like in this case better then the other One even if that does mean that they are cutting out at the same time something like an Multiplayer Modus which might be for some other an absolutly No-Go.

Saying that Asphalt 7: Heat is the better Racing Game would be a lie and I`m not here to make some Publisher look better just because I probably could gain something from it.

I stay to what I have written a few Hours ago. If it comes to Racing we will see the following Order by the End of the Year in the Racing Genre:

    • Real Racing 3
    • Need for Speed Most Wanted
    • Asphalt 7: Heat

Can't make a judgement call since I haven't played NFS:MW on the iOS, but did want to point out that even though A7 was only $.99 and had plenty of IAPs available. The game is EASILY playable without any IAPs. I didn't even consider buying an IAP at any time. And I guess I must have said "no" to the initial Notification request because I never got any spams from GL to get them.

I'm hardly a big Gameloft fan, but Asphalt 7 was an incredible bargain that should have been $6.99 and I never understood why it wasn't.

And I love the gameplay in it. That said, I can't compare it to this. Just wanted to clarify the freemium/IAP question when it comes to A7.

I never could get that into Asphalt 7 because the up-selling of IAP, regardless of how optional it was, just felt exceptionally abusive to me.

Like awp69 I've never needed IAP in A7, nor have I had to replay old races to progress through the campaign. NFSMW on the other hand quickly presents the player with two options: IAP or grind (replay old races for cash) before you can progress.

BTW I noticed I can't comment on news anymore. Hit a nerve did I?

I'm having no issues on my iPad 3. Absolutely stunning looking game, rivals a console game for graphics and effects. I've not noticed the frame rate skip or drop and whilst not 60fps, some people need to remember this thing is a tablet and not a dedicated gaming console.

£4.99? A damn steal. Well done FireMonkey.

Wow, Asphalt 7, you rate 3.5/5 stars? Seems a little low...

And I agree with the other posters that inapp in A7 is totally optional, in fact, the game is on the easy side, so it makes the use of inapps even less important.

For me, it's all about the constant nags in Asphalt 7 like this-

...before every single race. That just says to me, "Hey idiot, you know you can just race normally but if you give me a couple moon bucks think how much BETTER you can do!" I realize it's totally optional, but IAP like this should be hidden away in a menu somewhere, not constantly flaunted.

Fully agree. I really miss the physics engine of the original NFS. The first one, with the red Ferrari 512M and the black Lamborghini Diablo. For me, that was the best physics engine of all the NFS series. Why doesn't EA release a remake of that one respecting that physics engine? When cars crashed, it was very realistic. I want that physics engine back!!!

Just a small Example how Gameloft screwed up once if it comes to their so called not viewable iAP.

The first Time I did load up Spiderman after I had bought it on the NZ Store a few Months ago and did launched it I got an Message from Asphalt 7: Heat straight at the beginning of the Gameplay of Spiderman that a new iAP Car is available.

I swear to you that at this Moment I was so close to put that Trailer Online with the Title...

Gameloft please stop penetrating me with your iAP Messages while I`m playing your own Games...

In the End I hadn`t done it because I had some hopes that they would finally turn back again to their good old Ways which in the longer run they did but Boy I was pissed for about one Week at that time and didn`t answered any Messages from their PR for a few Weeks.

I hit no thanks and then win the race iap free. If iap is there but not need then great but if you buy a game and can't get passed something without iap then nope pass and it seems from comments its a pass. Might get it but a price reduce is needed.

It's all about the vibe the game gives you though, that constant reminder just feels ultra-tacky to me, sort of like how when you watch any sort of sporting event now every available surface is covered in advertising. Yeah, the game is still the same, but, eh.

Hey DBC remember me from the Star Warfare thread?

just thought to stop by and say hi!:D

  14. Yeah, I don't particularly care for the nag screens either, but at least they have some creative pictures instead of a screen with just coins and prices.

That screenshot is EXACTLY THE SAME (functionally) as the car mod screen in NFSMW. It appears before every race and asks if you want to spend in-game cash for one or more one-race performance boosts. Yet you gave NFSMW 5 stars? Why? Because they made the "SPEND MONEY NOW" button a different colour?

Because I liked it way more. It's OK to disagree, I'm not trying to offend your personal honor or anything by preferring one racing game for another.

I'd call that a minor annoyance. In multiplayer mode just uncheck "With Sponsors" in the race/tracks/tier menu and you won't see that screen any more.

I will agree here. The IAPs are annoying but truth be told I never need to use them. But rate Asphalt 7 lowly for other reasons. Nfs is more premium all around and I equally didn't see need for IAPs to complete the game. But in terms of in game currency distribution Asphalt 7 Is surprisingly better.

Read it. There's difference of opinion, and then there's incompetence, hypocrisy, and negligence.
