To compare this game with that garbage Asphalt 7 is like comparing COD 1 with Modern Warfare 2. All of your credibility is lost!
I think the roads look fine. They have more texture than in previous MW games. I had a PSP and know what gritty, non-AA roads look like and these ain't it. Although I understand the comparison. There was one road section in a tunnel that reminded me for a moment of non-AA roads, but thus is t my experience in general with the game. I also don't know if AA is on or off in this game. I'm just commenting on what I (don't) see.
Game Impressions I took a punt on this last night, and so far at a couple of hours in and I am really enjoying it. Graphically is damn tasty on the iPhone 5 ...I don't think the new iPad is choppy, but after playing on the iP5 it doesn't feel as fluid and slick. There maybe a few frame rate drops on some of the wider corners. I'm also not sure if all the effects are there on the new iPad? (maybe wrong as only done a few races), the road didn't appear so mirror like, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing as you do expect it to be a bit more slippery with this ice like finish too it A couple of disappointing aspects, the roads are kinda empty and barren, and when you takeout a cop, at times they fly away quite helium balloon like Also the cars could be a bit more grounded... my little Alpha Romeo appears to be hovering at times. Maybe a bit of tweaking of the car shadowing will help. I don't want to be too negative as a lot of good here. The game has a great sense of the speed, takedowns (when look right) feel great, pretty crazy the graphics that these small devices are capable of, and menus are nicely polished and presented (no GC or iCloud integration though). I don't mind the price point for a quality produced product and I haven't personally hit an IAP wall yet, but would be extremely disappointed if I did. I don't mind doing the odd race a couple of times to boost my in-game funds, but if the game pushes you to IAPs' to progress, that'd be an instant lost of interest! On thing to always bare in mind with EA games are their sales, but from what I've played so far, I think this game is worth the current entrance fee.
Ah, gotta love the internet. Opinions and facts are not the same, kid. On my iPad 3 RR2 runs very, very smoothly at full retina WITH MSAA (!!!!) and NFSMW does not. Actual numbers are just guesses, hence the words "seems" and "at a guess" in my previous post. I could maybe understand it if NFSMW was pretty but it's really damned ugly on iPad 3 (looks nothing like the iPhone 5 shots) with fubar road textures/reflections all over the place!
Hey kid, it's not my fault your iPad 3 is weak and also obsolete. All this crying wont change a thing. Either you delete Most Wanted and move on or just go back to RR2 with its fake physics and slippery traction. #
Really...RR2 fake physics? I thought they replicated the car handling perfectly there. And this is coming from a fan of sim racing!
Well, all I can say is that the game runs friggin smooth with great real-time reflections on my iPad 2. Textures are great as well. You know, the iPad 2 is better than the iPad 3 gaming wise...might be the reason
We will just have to disagree on the iPad 3 graphics. I played for 2 hours last nite and had to force myself to go to bed. Looked great and ran very very smoothly.
An update on my frame rate issues: having hit the pay wall that I mentioned earlier I went into settings and hit Reset Data so that I could start over and hopefully make smarter purchasing decisions this time around. So I'm back at the beginning now and the frame rate is much smoother. Still not silky like RR2 but a definite improvement. Not sure if the problem is something that only happens on later tracks or if it has been fixed by the data reset (my money is on the former).
Could be. iPad 3 is pushing 4x the pixels with only 2x the graphics power. It could also be that the silly speeds achieved in NFSMW highlight the frame rate issues (faster movement requires more FPS to look "smooth").
*facepalm* There is no paywall. The game even tells you after the first or second race that if you need more money you can go back and replay races. THE IAP IS COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. I've played through all NFS games on iOS and never needed to buy more money just to complete it. This is no different.
Yes it does have scripted physics and that's a fact. Not my opinion. Do you really think you could hit a railing at a 130 degree angle and have your car spin out 90% of the times?
Have to agree here! I HATE playing with tilt control so that's no option for me I hope the devs add more touch control options in the next update!
What were you guys expecting anyway? This is a NFS. Most Wanted has the same root as the Hot Pursuit. In fact, Hot Pursuit can be considered one of the worst racing games ever made. Then... any result for Most Wanted is a good result for developers. Comparing with other titles (Undercover, Shift, Shift2), is much much better! You guys must have a great expectation for RR3, not for NFS.
You're new here. You have an opinion. Both of these things are fine. But please, try to check out the site, and see how the majority of posters interact. These borderline trolling posts aren't going to serve you well.
My mistake for not being clear enough in the review, when I said customization I meant more along the lines of the Need For Speed Underground style of crazy paint jobs, car graphics, spoilers out the wazoo and things that really made your car feel unique. There's weird performance upgrades, but it almost always seems like it feels better to just wait to unlock a better car than try to "fix" a slow one.
