They are supposed to be cheesy like that. This is a cute, cartoony racer, not Gran Turismo. It's funny and stupid. Authentic names wouldn't fit the game.
I prefer an "authentic" name for a cartoony racer game, if "authentic" means that sound like Spanish, Dutch, German or Japanese. If you just want to make it stupid, well ok...let's use the following: Von Clog - Dutch Adolf Kraut - German Marco Pizza - Italian Fat Cheesburger - American, US. Sushi Ninja - Japanese Eiffel Omelette - French This is what I'd call stupid and trivial. It's just stupid, it's not fun/smart at all. I'm not saying to use real people's names, I'm just saying we can make a better job for this and for sure there are better solution for most of the names proposed before. If I were the developer I would try not to make it sound cheesy... just that. I just said my opinion, from a native speaker point of view. Maybe you didn't get the stupid part of these names. To let you understand better: Stan Gria may sound a Spanish name for an American user, but in fact Stan and Gria are non-existing words in Spanish. If a Spanish user see this name, he would think "how stupid is the developer?". Believe me. It's like if I develop an Italian game and I name the American driver "Conrad Cola" (sounds like Coca Cola). I bet you wouldn't find it funny...
The challenge is now over. Thanks for all the effort, some great ideas, these are the lucky ones that got in... El Toro - Spain (Thanks again to: Devilishly Good) Tony Treadmarks - Australia (Thanks to: TouchChatterbox) Von Dutch - Netherlands (Thanks to: llbros545) Killer Kiwi - New Zealand (Thanks again to: Devilishly Good) S-Car GO - France (Thanks AGAIN to: Devilishly Good) Kunoichi - Japan (thanks: spotlight) Lo Strano - Italy (thanks: spotlight) cheers Morgan
EDIT: Oops, didn't see your post just before making mine. Will leave these ideas in just in case. You said deadline extended to Wednesday and it's Wednesday night here in Australia so am submitting a few more ideas: Harley Marley - Jamaica Pirri Perry - Africa Boo Shido - Japan
Good job! Very good decisions. I don't get the S-Car GO meaning for the French, but all of them sound really good for your game. I can't wait to play Nano Rally... I wish you all the best!
