Yay! I won! Thanks a lot Steve for Nameless! I was wondering if there will be iPad support for Nameless? Btw, I love reading The Garlic
The powercreep/balancing in this game is nuts. I'm over 230 turns/30+ minutes at the Level 10 hospital because the enemy was able to heal themselves back from 100~ life all the way back to full health. Three Times at Least. because I can't consistently deal over 3k damage and the fact I was able to get their health down to 100~ was because of dumb luck with the enemy not using data recovery often. Yet I see them using their heal 2-3 turns away from each other. regardless of whether they need to use it or not because they're practically at full health anyway! I cant just sit around Kill9'ing them because it deals so little damage, it's unfeasible. I don't have the keylogger accessible yet so I don't even know when the damn thing is popping up. Shock barely works. Literally. They resisted over 75% of the attempts, yet they are able to catch me almost 100% with it. If I'm lucky and I can get a Scan that is not resisted, I can deal 1500ish damage before it's all moot with a 3k heal. Otherwise I only deal around 500 or so with my level 5-7 attacks. I spend most of my turns stealing 20~ energy to fund attacks that won't even matter in the end because I'm stuck in an almost endless cycle. I do no know how people got to the end of the game unless they were the lucky few to have taken that last 100 or so health from the hospital before they data recovered back. And its not like I was speeding through the game with my thumb up my butt. Most of my attacks were leveled 6-8, the max possible at the time unless I level up all my cards. And I hear the maximum level of attack is 15. If my opponent was level 10, I believe I was fairly prepared. I grinded a fair bit to raise the 300-400 BC only to blow every single credit into one card trying to 100% it, and leave it to chance to not even give me one maxed out card with all those attempts. Imagine the excitement in my face as I think about the 60 or so other cards in the game. I straight up rage quitted this battle and probably won't pick it up again for a while because of it. Had I known the difficulty would spike from the easy level 3-5 to the 6-8 guys, I would've metagamed and saved all the RP I spent leveling my cards early on and just farm the easy enemies from the beginning of the game because the battles were quick and easy. I do not believe you can just simply deal 3k damage in one turn to offset their data recovery. Or deal enough damage to make this encounter end in a respectable timeframe unless I grind my ass out which is not fun. This is not my idea of how progression works. If you're not planning on balancing these encounters, I suggest just putting in some IAP and sell a couple thousand BC's or RP's so people like me won't have to grind. Or just sell an easy mode or something iono.
Hey Gold, Sorry about the frustration you are experiencing. Maybe this information will help you. Here is the Hospital Boss' battle algorithm: Attack Pattern1:EnchantAntivirus level:9 Attack Pattern1:AttackForkBomb level:9 Attack Pattern2:ChargeDataRecovery level:10 Attack Pattern2:AttackShock level:9 If player is under 20% health, Attack PatternS:AttackDisconnectClassA level:8 And here are all the cards that contain a "Skill Upgrade" Spoiler SocialEngineering Tesla-Bolt Server Turing Server Moore's RAM PCIx Loom Card Wiener CPUs T.A.P.A.S. Cody's Workstation Jayden's BotNETs Tiny's Forensic Tools Hannah's SQL Base Superuser Encryption BoxCat Plushie ThinkDust Backdoor Attack gets rid of walls (such as antivirus, vlan or firewall), Port Scan causes 2x Damage on the inflicted element. There are other moves that get rid of walls too such as "bug assault" destroying the antivirus wall. Also, a possibly more cost effective way to gain cards may be to fight the lowest level monster, and perform Hannah's Steal Research. This will cause you to randomly generate cards as well. Luck does play a factor when rerolling also. My personal method of beating the hospital? Leveling up the Cannon Ball from Jayden as high as I can. Then just spamming it on them. Cannon Ball ignores all defensive measures and "breaks down walls". It doesn't cancel them out, just bypasses it. Hope this information helps you out. And watch out for the final boss!
Question: Are there any cards beyond the Boxcat plushie? I'm almost done but I haven't found them. I love the game ... but *ugh* it's grindy. I'm right before the big datacenter fight. I tried once but I gave up after I was in round 80 (!!) and the bastard still had 120000 of 160000 hp. Now I'm trying to collect enough RP to level at least my main attack skills to 15. I guess that will take another day. I wish there were some fun side quests with a bit of story, rather just straight and repetitive battles.
Hi MKill, Not exactly sure what you mean by "cards after BoxCat Plushie". There are cards to be discovered after the Data Center. Also, we posted some tips on how to beat the data center earlier. There's a specific pattern that you follow, and is easy to beat. Spoiler The pattern is pretty much, "Kill 9", "Backdoor", Find Vulnerability, Then do your strongest move when everything's open until the opponent heals. Once he does, repeat the steps. That should eliminate the boss pretty quickly. Good luck. As for side stories and other quests, it is possible in a future update to have additional content.
Ok, I beat the datacenter ... after bumping all the cards I had to Gold and boosting the main skills to 15. I'm now facing the top of pyramid 7. After losing a dozen times I'm giving it a break for today. I lost one in round one when my Kill -9 didn't work and the guy critted a banhammer. Ahg. There were other tough, drawn out fights after the datacenter. The 500,000 hp one wasn't even the worst. The top two of pyramid 5 were the hardest. I have all the cards except for #16 and #65. I think I know where #65 is, but #16? It cant't be a random drop because I've collected all of them 2-3 times by now. It's not in the shop either.
Hmm... all the cards should be receivable as a random drop during your act. Try using Hannah's datamine skill, it might increase your odds of getting one of them. And the top of pyramid 7 definitely takes some luck. I'll let you know that there is no cutscene or event after it yet. Just a card. Thanks for playing!!! We're also going to releasing a small bugfix update pretty soon as well.
Thanks for the feedback. Glad to see the developers engaging the community. As for card #16, I guess I've been extremely unlucky then... By the way, here is an update request: Once you have the Gold "Ultra Rare", the game should lock it in to avoid accidently throwing it away. Gambling should be disabled for these. If you receive it again as a random drop, the gold should be an auto-keep. Ideally, the game should have a slight bias against giving you cards again when you own the rare. Maybe a one-time 50% chance to reroll the drop?
About the Universal Update: We've been working on the universal update with some troubling news: Here are a few of the big problems we encountered: Our game is very heavy on textures. The textures in our game were designed for the iPhone resolution. When we try to import it into the iPad, they stay the same size as the one on the iPhone. Trying to stretch them makes everything look grainy and terrible. We would need to have the artists redraw everything with a higher DPI / resolution (which is very costly, and trying to arrange the artists all together again would be difficult as they have moved onto different projects) Our touch interface was designed for the iPhone. As we hacked away at converting to universal, there was just a ton of empty space. There really isn't anything we can fill it with. The battles look very strange also. Just imagine the exact same size icons of the iPhone and put it into the iPad. The console room ended up being microscopic on the large iPad. To be honest, the 2x mode that's offered on the iPad looks much better than anything we could do with our attempts at universal. We've spent roughly a month on it, and have no results to show. I hope that you understand our dilemma. Also, if you are wondering, you can see our entire budget, and what we've learned from creating Nameless: the Hackers here. We haven't made back our money on the game, but we're still hopeful. What we have done: We have focused on alleviating the troubling bugs that would cause people to crash. Thank you for all your continued support. I really do appreciate it, and hope that we will be able to learn from Nameless and make quality titles into the future. About Rare: The luck stat modifier actually helps in your re-rolling stat. I'm thinking about writing a strategy guide for Nameless one day...
Hi there, just to check, will there be any more content update after the pyramid as I completed everything and upgraded every skills and collected every cards so if there are no future content updates, I would like to delete it. Please kindly advise, it's a great game, looking forward for Nameless 2.
I am very saddened to hear you have not made back the money on the game. It's an awesome game, and I'd happily buy it again. Just one request, (if it's not out of the question, of course) iCloud support. That would be awesome! Thanks for working so hard on the game and I hope you make your money back (plus more) so BoxCat can continue to make great games. Any new game will be an instabuy day one!
I'll say that I wouldn't completely count it out, but you may feel free to delete the game if you'd like. I have heard of ways to back the savegame up using different things (such as iFunBox). It would be in the documents folder and most likely your savegame should be fine on future versions. Thank you! I think we'll eventually make back the money we invested, just not anytime soon unfortunately. On Nameless, iCloud probably can't happen since that's something we should have planned from day 1, but we are busily working on our new title. Can't say much yet, but I'll say two words: airship and steampunk.
Not 100% sure about that, again there may be plans to update Nameless, but most likely when we have pushed further into development with our new game. I'm still regularly checking the forums, and as always, you can always reach me anytime And I'm going to be releasing the soundtrack to Nameless for anyone to download. Gotta package it together and figure out what the best way to distribute is tho...
Hmm... It's too early to talk about it just yet. But it'll be set in a Steampunk Airships world. We have a newsletter which we'll be sending out every month that'll give updates if you are interested. Promise won't spam ya and def will never share your info. In the newsletter, we'll have special giveaways and maybe some beta testing opportunities... But first gotta build the game. http://www.box-cat.com/ac/blue2/ There's the sign up for the newsletter.
Oh jeez. I had never played that game until you mentioned it. Now I'm hooked! First character build: Elf Supermodel build. Couldn't stop laughing at the dialogue. I've been a big fan of Vampire: Masquerade when it came onto steam. Surprised I hadn't heard about this one till ya mentioned it.
