Hey everyone! Currently working on the universal version, so we're back into silent dev mode. Also we submitted the bug fix and a few other minor tweaks. We do read the board frequently, and feel free to contact me directly! Also, we'll be releasing a postmortem on the whole "Nameless" project in a month or two. I'm still new at this, and not sure what we're doing but we'll tell you all about this insane journey that we've had this past year. Again, thank you all for your support. We really appreciate all the comments and we read each one outloud to each other saying, "WHOA! READ THIS ONE!" All I've ever wanted to do my entire life is create things that are fun and enjoyable. And you are helping me achieve my dreams. Steve BoxCat
Apparently you can request Touch Arcade cover a game using the "submit tip" button in the upper right have corner of the forum; I'm not sure how effective submit tip is but I've tried it a few times.
which skills are worth maxing? I see no point of leveling up format disk. btw: is illumsec datacenter the last mission? why does it have WAY more hp than other missions
That review is one of the rare times where I didn't share the negative interpretation, but where the reviewer made accurate objective observations.
I guess format disk isn't much use if you have binary beam or math blaster leveled up. At least that's how I'd look at the damage skills if you're using the with port scan. The usefulness of more indirect skills depends on how you like to play. It's the last story mission, hence the high hp.
Thanks everyone for your support! I think it's great to get a review in the first place and am very appreciative of the exposure!!!!
That review is everything I hate about "journalism". Have the guts to praise the type of point the game makes in what it _says_, _and_ have the "gall" to "let" that impact your review _score_? Why, we can't have our ratings out of sync with likely ad dollars, what would people think if we had _opinions_?!!!! Yes, it's a very humble game, but if you were paying attention in its cutscenes you'd find a lot to explore and discover, a fairly ambitious story with ethical nuance and ambivalence in the vein of Nausicaä or FFVII or even Ghost in the Shell with multiple independently motivated parties whose interests swerve, intermingle, and collide in a much more complex and substantive fashion than the stupid synopsis of "corporate world domination" betrays. Have the guts to champion a fledgeling developer with something to say, the gumption to up and say it, and the creativity to craft a unique (however protean) battle system! 3.5 stars for that? A unique and quietly ambitious indie title built for iOS, Touch Arcarde? _Really_?
... Since when is 3.5 stars bad? That's a 7/10, that's had some good idea, but didn't quite get there with execution. This is what I hate about the results of bad game journalism, anything thats not a 9/10 is deemed offensive. That said, it's pretty rare toucharcade do say anything negative, and are rarely terribly critical, which depending on what you want isn't a bad thing. Also, it sounds like you are saying they should have gotten a higher score just because they tried. Which is a dangerous route, innovation isn't a free pass and never should be. Having said all that... I'm looking forward to playing this! It was a quite popular feature pre iCloud but only shortly before it. Both broken sword games used it for instance. It also kind of vanished after iCloud to for obvious reasons.
Your misreading of my post is as reactionary, vapid, and erronious as the review: I called it humble; where you get a demand for near-perfect from that, I have no idea. Not only did they innovate but also had a strong story; the combination deserves some commendation rather than saying well unless you care this kinda sucks, kicking it to the curb counting on the majority's ambivalence to bite you if you're soft on a smart game.
I'll agree with what you're saying. The review made it seem like a game people shouldn't bother with. This ending to the review really makes it seem like it's saying "don't waste your time." Had I not got my hands on it before this review, I probably would have dismissed the game. I don't put much stock into reviews and I look more toward the reviews of other users for this reason. Everyone in this thread seems to really enjoy it. And I do too. Another reason I don't rely on official reviews: I can't relate to the people reviewing them. What if they don't enjoy the same kinds of games I do? How am I supposed to know that? Again, why I rely on TA user reviews.
Yup, exactly why I chose to take issue with this instance of the practice of this style of "journalism": this game deserves better than to be tuned out by those who would have no other reason to discover it; treat your audience as smart enough to form our own opinions about _yours_provided you dare, or _deign_, to _have_ any.
New update (1.1.06) just rolled out Fixed Plan C Crash Few GUI changes to reduce confusion Fixed Bugs I'm curious, will achievements will be added in the future?
I don't make it to the Plan C crash any more. Now the game freezes on my iPad just after defeating the last boss and picking up the drops. The image below shows it stuck at Turn 23. Edit: Beat it again and now it went through. Finally. Didn't realize there's more content. Good stuff.
Hey everyone! The last update was a few bug fixes, plus opening up the iPad1 / 3GS to the game. Is anyone here still experiencing any problems after Plan C? Also our contest is nearing the end. If you haven't signed up, you should give it a shot! http://box.cat Thank you!
Woah. Loaded this game up after having not played for a little bit, and completely pwned the battle I had been stuck at! Yaya! Now on to moreeee!!
