I think Social games are only really successful and accepted on social networks (Facebook). Let's take Real Racing 3 as an example. This game almost REQUIRES you to have friends to compete against. If you do not have friends playing the game, your progress is slowed to EXTREME lengths, which shouldn't be how a game works. A game should not award people for having friends and leave those without friends at a handicap. So if a game, let's take Nameless for example (even though it will not incorporate social elements), in the context you presented: someone were to need 200 BC's to do a boss encounter. If the player doesn't have any friends playing the game as well, that would make the game progress much slower and possibly less exciting since that money would be more difficult to come by and would require grinding to earn it. Whereas the person with "friends" can just breeze through because there are countless others on their list playing the game. So, basically, any game should not handicap anybody that does not have any friends. (I emphasize "friends" in that last context because one can just add any person they don't know, and is probably not an actual friend. Some people do not want to do this.)
Honestly, I'd delete your game from my device, and never look at your games again. I'll never play any social game, or any game that makes me rely on "friends" to continue. I'll never play any game that makes me wait, I'll never play any game that makes me pay to continue, and I'll never play any game where I need to pay to be strong enough to progress. I'd rather burn my money. Literally. I *will* pay a fair price for a good game. And I'll happily pay for expansions to games I like that add new, substantial content, like what they've been doing with Elder Signs: Omens. There are plenty of developers who do very well charging reasonable prices for great games. They may never be Zynga, but many of them do well. And they'll always get my money.
If I wanted social interaction, I'd browse a forum or reddit or facebook. Games are for when I don't want to socialize, and it's always been that way. The most social my games get are beating other people's high scores.
Just to check, is skill capped at lvl 15? My skill limit is at 16 now but I can't increase the skill anymore. Do advise.
I don't really like social games. At least those which require you to have "game friends" or you can't proceed. Only a few friends of mine has idevices and they do not really play. Those who I know and play, have no idevices and only play on the PC or consoles. However I know a game which actually do have a very good friend system. That is Tower of Saviors. You don't need to have an FB account or GameCenter (you can if you like, but not required at all), and you are not required to have friends at all. You have 5 characters, one of them is set to be used by others. Each have a leader skill and an active skill. You can only have 1 leader, whose leader skill is active. Other than that you can only use the active skills. In each battle you bring a "friend" whose leader skill is also in effect. However the trick is, that before each battle you get a list of all your friends, who you have not used that day and 3 random people. Those who are not your friend yet, you can invite to be one if you wish, but even if they don't accept, you always get random 3 you can freely choose from. So it is really not required.
I think yes. When you max out a skill to level 15, it says SKILL MAXED. Previously it said "SKILL CAPPED".
I don't think capping skill lvl at lvl 15 is fair. 1st, if skill limit is capped, there is no point maxing all my card to 100%, my skill limit now is 17 with over 50 cards at 100%. This extra 2 point is wasted. 2nd, AI skills are not capped at lvl 15. If they are capped too, I will say it's very fair.
Well, I think I saw an opponent with a lv30 skill as well... The reason why you can still defeat it is only your strategy (and it is possible, I defeated the last pyramid's boss as well ) and that they don't have skills as widely ranged as yours. Still, I also found that strange, why the cards support more levels if it is maximized earlier. But I'm pretty sure it is maximized for now, so it can't go avoce lv15. Who knows, maybe it will be changed in a later update?
Just barely scraped by that mission where you try to break in with fake credentials. Wasn't really fun. 900 dmaage critical with health absorb Wtf. Will I get more useful skills later? Always seems like the enemies get the cool skills before me. And it seems like its near impossible to do stuff without resorting to items. I'm just mostly using fork bomb atm cuz it does great damage for the cost. Any better strategies I should try?
Ok. Thanks for the reply! I hope you'll be able to complete the testing soon. Games like Galaxy on Fire 2 SD mostly work although I need to do things like reduce graphics quality and turn off music to make it completely crash-free. I won't be able to upgrade for quite some time yet so here's hoping. That's just me though. Do what you need to for your biggest fans. About social elements, it's totally optional for me. I'm happy with completely single-player experiences and am mostly in it for a good story and great art, which, from what I can see of Nameless and fan reaction, show real promise. My other favorite games on my 3GS are the Bar Oasis series and GOF2.
Hey Everyone! I have been reading your messages but my internet has been on the fritz! I'll try to respond to any questions as soon as I get back from the show! We showed the game off at GDC 2013, and the results were very positive! Everyone loved it! And with all of your continual support, we're very excited to try to smooth out any issues in the game. We're working hard for you all! Also met Eli and others from TouchArcade. Really cool people! And we also really appreciate your nominating us for 3rd place in the TouchArcade Forums' Game of the Week! So from all of us at BoxCat... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Level some Cards and skills if you haven't already. I think my tactic was just doing more damage than they could heal. Just got the Plan C crash. Not sure if that's because the fix isn't finalised yet, or because the 3GS was more exhausted by it than I was. I'll see how it pans out tomorrow
Just completed main campaign and currently stuck at last boss of 7 Wonders pyramid. This game is really awesome but some updates on the skill capping will be better. The last boss of pyramid can 1 hit kill me, some adjustment can be made? I try 100 times to kill it without success. And tips? Some tips for new players will be 1st. Pirate cannon is really good on any walls as it is a neutral element Att. Max it first 2nd. End campaign boss and some other bosses use pattern att, which means the skills will be always the same and they just cycle it. Use kill 9 to prevent the ban hammer and heal. So max kill 9 soon too. 3. Try to get more cards to 100%, more skill limit equal more dmg. 4. Virus is a good skill too, some boss r good in dmg n stun lock, only virus can kill it over time while u keep healing against virus bosses which use infected floppy. 5. Inc more Health limit , repot b4 every fight.
grinding is lame in this imo. Takes way too much 'effort' to grind lol. Thinks are quite tough even on the normal sidequests. I should be able to grind mindlessly! Maybe I'm just using my skills wrong. Mostly been spaming fork bomb cuz it does good damage for the cheap price of mp. Not finding much use of other skills :S
Kenken11: Spoiler 1999A.D. or the last one? if 1999A.D., then the only way to defeat that tier is to constantly have the keylogger on (so depending on the opponent's action reactivate if only have 1-2 turns left). Stock up around 30 reroutes and max healings, you will need it (especially in the battle's last phase). I also maxed out my skills before. It is a nice practice to defeat Hate Cows and The Birds of Preys on the map. Those are also hard battles, but shorter (and give 15-20RP). But maybe it's the last one you meant. I only could defeat it once. Next time battle started with banhammer and I lost too many turns and my opponent became so strong, that it could cause more than my max HP. You can only defeat it if you are faster (use port scan here). But I think it needs some modification, damaging over max is simply unfair.
Thanks for the tips, I am at the last boss of pyramid, the ban hammer is a 1 hit killer! And the Boss lvl 30 is like full heal. So if kill 9 fail to stun those 2 skills, it's the end.
hmmm what are good attack moves? I really do wish the game was more open about what leveling each skill actually does... sometimes its a huge damage bump... sometimes it isn't
