OK, so we've gone through the list of names you've all entered. Thanks to everyone who participated so far! There were so many great potential names. Some of them were very creative, and some were just plain funny and made us laugh! We've decided to name the game with a main name and a subtitle name, like "Awesome Game: Wicked Cool Subtitle". This thread's poll will help decide the main part of name. The subtitle will be decided later. Please note that we've added a few names to the poll which were suggested to us outside the contest thread. We want to be fair to everyone who entered this contest though, so if the name that gets the most votes did not come from the contest thread, then we will award the gift card to the name that gets the most votes which did come from the contest thread. We've also made a couple of variations of names that were suggested by some of you. We've made a note of whose entry inspired each variation and will award the gift card to that person if their variation gets the most votes. Hopefully that all makes sense and is fair. Feel free to PM me if you have any concerns! For those who didn't see the original thread, here is one of the screenshot mockups for the game:
So for "Unicorn Rush", I actually shortened it from Kylescorpion's entry, but I see you also submitted it in it's "pure form". If that entry happens to win I'll give you both a card.
I had Unicorn's Quest as my entry, but I see there's an option for Unicorn Quest in the poll. Is that mine?
I sort of like Spirit of the Unicorn - but with the form that the name is going to take, I think it works better as either Unicorn Spirit - or Spirit Unicorn...
Everybody vote for "that unicorn game" because it's really cool and the person who made is awesome and i am not affiliated with him in any way shape or form.
To be honest, these names are really app store generic. Nothing really stands out for me. So I don't know, whoever pays me a billion dollars gets my vote
Okay, I don't have a billion dollars. But I do have a piece of billion dollar advice: Buy Phoenix Wright.
Can you make an exception for me like you did with Aussie2 and Kylescorpion? I already got some friends to vote for that name. My post: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=1220844&postcount=98
In a way, that is the point. Names like Doodle Jump, Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Flight Control, etc. are all very simple, easy to remember, and the name is somewhat descriptive of the actual game. It seems that these types of game names tend to do well. If Doodle Jump were called "Grumblepot the Magnificent" I don't think it would have sold nearly as well.
Yeah...that's my fault for not just taking the entries "as is" and then tweaking them later. We'll be fair.
I think spirit of the unicorn was mine And how many games have the rush in them! I was trying to go a different way. Just an idea to stand out. Overused words: jump, rush, doodle, mystery, puzzle, ect. I vote we stay away from the same common words to get more interest.
In all honesty what does your title have anything to do with running? Like the dev said sometimes it's better to have the name simple and actually reflects what the game is about. If you got a game called "unicorn rush/run/dash" The customer will say well this is a running game involving a unicorn. If the title doesnt reflect the game chances are the customer might be disappointed or feel mislead by the title. Plus simple names appeal to males more and this game targets females so if you want male buyers you cant make it even more girly . Im not trying to be mean btw just my opinion.
Yep, I have that one attributed to you. I like that one. It is missing anything about the gameplay like jump, run, etc., but that could be added in the subtitle. e.g., Spirit of the Unicorn: The Race to Crystal Island
It's like "Who's on first?" Dude 1: Hey, whatcha playin'? Dude 2: That Unicorn Game. Dude 1: Cool, what's it called? Dude 2: That Unicorn Game. Dude 1: No, I mean what's that unicorn game called? Dude 2: Right. Dude 1: What's right? Dude 2: The name!
