Sorry for the news drought... we're putting in a lot of extra work to make the game as fully featured as possible. TONS of story, tons of collectables (story notes, enemy bios, other peoples' stories, etc), tons of enemies and large levels, etc. I'm really eager to show off some video, but we're just not there yet.

Well, here are a few new features at least ;)

    - a journal "scrapbook" with tons of collectables. Story tidbits, world lore, enemy bios, other peoples' stories, etc. this game will have TONS to learn about and discover - if you care about that kind of thing ;) find them in levels, earn them for completing missions, etc. People loved the story in the first NYZ, and we're taking it to the max in this one.

    - huge sense of scale and scope. Levels are not small arenas. Wander around a section of fully realized central park with huge buildings towering around you, through Times Square, walk across Brooklyn Bridge, journey underground through the Holland Tunnel, etc. you'll FEEL like you're in an abandoned NY :)

    - optional missions, with unique rewards and randomized story to go with each... Meaningful choices as well. Missions disappear after limited time, so if you choose one over another, you may never see that one again, or get its reward. This way you create your own story in a sense and sometimes have to mAke tough choices.

    - nightmare mode, with persistent character, meaning... If you die, you die for good. Not for the casual gamer ;) mind you, you will have separate games per difficulty, so unlike the first you don't have to delete your "normal game" to play nightmare.

    - free move joystick, OR "tap to move" controls. Tap to move will allow people who hate fps controls to enjoy the game, and give you a nice option to still play one handed (something we loved about the first).

    - tap to shoot from the hip, or zoom in for precise shots using iron sights for each weapon. A nice mix of simple, yet realistic and tactical gameplay. The perfect evolution of the first game.

And, probably some more stuff :p But that's it for now!

I like the journal concept. Story is great, but it's also nice when you can collect it and then read it when you have time.

I got a hunch that's the way it'll be. Like in Bug Heroes.

Yep, journal will be a persistent thing you can look at all at once in the map screen. There are 2 parts to it... the main journal, which dynamically builds out the main story in a linear fashion (so you could read through the main story front to back all in one place), and the "scrapbook", which will be a compilation of miscellaneous things you find in the world... a note to a loved one from someone who killed himself, an enemy bio with tips, stats, etc, a military order talking about the start of the event, etc... stuff that just explains a bit of the background and lore a bit more.

Game looks awesome. Didn't watch the video but from the sound of it, sounds like Left 4 Dead but maybe better.

Awesome. Truly seems game is gonna be awesome. I like the fact your trying to keep the same formula as NYZ and building off that, instead of making a totally different game. NYZ is deff in my top ten all time favorite apps and it's high on that list. Come to think of it bug heroes is also on that list. Can't wait for this guys and I'm open to beta test if you need me. Running vanilla ipad3 4g and 4s. Thanks for all the feedback. You guys always keep the community informed and I know a lot of us appreciate that.

I am so looking forward to this game! I absolutely loved the first one! I was lucky enough to beta test NYZ (the first one) and Bug Heros, and I have always been impressed with the level of quality in their games. I can't wait to see how this one compares to the first NYZ. Looking forward to the game's release!:D

Yep, we remember you! We've had some really awesome testers, and its cool to see a few of those people still around!

As for NYZ2, the news will admittedly be in a bit of a lull until we can get something tangible to you guys (and girls :p )... the way the game is being built, we actually have a lot of the content already done, but its only going to come together towards the end. So, once that happens we'll have a blitz of screens, videos, and hopefully some preview coverage from some iOS sites!

In the meantime, the environments are looking awesome... we've got Times Square.... TO SCALE, a big chunk of central park, Holland Tunnel, and tons more. Most of the environments are very accurate to their real world counterparts, painstakingly modeled via Google Street View images, photos, and thousands of reference pics. I know I keep saying it, but I can't wait to show some game-play footage!

This just gets better and better... The lull before the storm, eh? I can't wait for the storm to break.
Enough previews to last the rest of my days... Until the game of course :p
