im lovin this game, and is the perfect game so far for the halloween. Only thing is the slow movement. I mean if there was a real zombie apocalypse, I would always run. Other than that, this is a very solid game. And I love how the skill system is being implemented.
As one of the few defenders of Dead Trigger, how would you say this compares gameplay wise? To me DT was a game that was fun to play, even though it had little depth. Still can't say there's really been a first or third-person zombie shooter (yes, even the COD Zombie games), that combined both fun gameplay and depth/story on the iOS.
I loved DT too, but this has way more depth. DT looks better and has collisions on zombies, and i like the run and gun feel of that one. Thing is, DT didnt really feel like a zombie game, but more of an action game. This one, has the better atmosphere. Slower paced and has emphasis on the horror part. Also, the skills system in NYZ2 is top notch. And i like it that made it possible to learn only one tree in one story mode. Forces you to stick to your build. For quick bursts, DT has some edge over this, but for something more engrossing, and has great story tacked to it, NYZ2 takes it.
Fair enough, but I at least keep giving them a try. I guess it's not so much zombie games that haven't worked for me, but FPSs/TPSs in general. The only two that I keep on my device are COD Zombies and MC3. I've certainly liked a lot of others along the way though, such as the Brothers in Arms games, the NOVA games (sort of) and Zombie Infection (really enjoyed this one). Thanks a ton for the information. I like the sound of the RPG-like elements and may pick it up based on your review. Hell, $2 shouldn't be that hard of a decision.
Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know. Now, I have to figure out the casualties on my iPhone to make space for this!
That's a statement from someone who never played COD zombies for more than 5 hours. COD WaW zombies has one of the best stories you can get on an iOS device. The only problem is that the story isn't given on a silver plate like in other games. But if you find and connect all the pieces you will be amazed. You could easily write a 20+ page essay on the COD Zombies story.
I am really liking this game but the thing that really annoys me is the shooting controls where you tap the zombie to shoot it. Your finger covers the screen so it makes it a bit hard to see what you are shooting at. I would love to see an option to change the controls to something like dead trigger or modern combat shooting controls, I think that worked really well.
Just watch Sanuku's gameplay video at the 12:31-13:00 mark... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=LkSMX_8bu2g#!
Thanks, we have thought about adding a "traditional" aiming option (shooting at a reticle in the middle of the screen always). Right now we have a hybrid system... when iron sights are up, it is simply "shoot at the middle of the screen" like most games. With iron sights down, it is tap to shoot, which allows for a nice amount of speed when dealing with hordes of zombies coming from every direction.
I like the sounds of that aiming method. Zooming in requires more exact aiming while shooting from the hip is more of a frantic, almost panic sort of thing. Sounds like a nice way to capture the feel of the different shooting methods...
Ok, after watching this video, I already have some major concerns. First off, why does it take 4 or 5 HEAD shots to kill a zombie, I've never seen that in ANY zombie game. Typically a well placed head shot kills a zombie instantly. Then I noticed it only takes 2 slashes to kill a zombie. So basically what you are telling me is a knife is more powerful than a handgun ? Kinda unrealistic. Any zombie enthusiast knows, the power in a zombie lies in his brain, it's what keeps a zombie going, shoot the brain, zombies die. Yet in this game, it takes 4 or 5 shots to the head, or 2 slashes to the body with a knife. Still an instabuy for me, but very disappointing video, not realistic (because we all know zombies are real lol) and I've killed thousands of zombies lol.
Heh, not all of those were head shots (it is pixel perfect). You cannot blow a zombies head off until they have <50% health... this was a clear gamplay decision so that you had room to grow as a character (if you can 1-shot everything with a basic, level 1 pistol, there isn't much room to grow!). We'll be listening carefully to more input about this though!
