Help on NOVA I can't find guides..because the game is new lol..But I'm in Hell's gate where i reached the control room and the objective is to "Find the controls and arrange the platforms in the right pattern" There are those 4 computers that you press to change the rotating platforms..so confusing
You can't just say "there's nothing GL can do, that won't work, neither will this etc.". That means hackers win, they can use a system like VAC, modified files lead to ban of the device. The game should also only work with the first UDID it starts up with in case he tries to change it.
Anything man made can be man unmade. This whole process has always been and always will be a cat and mouse game. Gameloft will institute controls and in time someone will find a work around. Hackers will never be completely eliminated and I never said Gameloft shouldn't try and keep trying.
That's true, the best way against them seems dedicated servers with admins. That however is impractical on iPhone, money spent to run them and you need people playing often for some admins. I don't know, on PC the games with least hackers have servers since they just get banned every time they join.
Nice job! Geez, this level was tough. I thought I would never make my way through it, but I got there in the end. I could tell by some of your tactics that you had played through the level before doing the video.
I don`t wanna get kicked from the Forum so I won`t explain about what I do think about the Game or where Gameloft should go and what they are comparing to Developers like EA or Crescent Moon Games. I hope you Guys can respect that. Thanks.
The hackers are becoming more common. That unlimited ammo/grenades hack is a pain. On world map, one guy placed about 20 landmines around his position and then just fired off rpgs around the map without ever reloading. Very annoying rocket spamming. Rank 70. He was also complete crap player. One grenade got him each time and out in the open, he couldn't stay alive for long. Not a skill full rank 70. Reported him, and couple of other spam RPGs hackers, so hopefully something will happen to them. Probably not though. Funnily enough though, never come across them on an insta gib match, which actually requires a bit of skill. Plus it's the best match where rpg can't be used and jet pack has no real advantage (other than getting to higher buildings on earth map, but can still be killed up there).
Interesting statement. Thinly veiled contempt I think I sense there. If not, I apologise, but either way your opinion shouldn't get you kicked from the forum as its easily as valid, if not more so based on your wide range of experience of games, than anyone else's. Plus I thought at least part of the purpose of forums was sharing opinions and information. I'm not disrespecting you or asking your opinion if you don't want to give it, just pointing out that your opinion and contributions to the forum as a whole are widely respected and have a strong influence on other forum members, including myself, as to whether a game is worth buying or a developer is worth supporting, and I'd rather not see that change. Basically keep up the good work.
I really wish this game worked better on the iPod Touch 3rd Gen. As it is, it looks less than half the impressive display the videos promised (not so surprising) and still manages to run with a hobbled limp. I just want a game to live up to its promise as sketched out in a fancy video/trailer. While NOVA 3 most likely does, it certainly won't on older devices.
Your point is relatively valid but looking at your signature, you know enough about games so you must know that the iPod touch 3rd gen simply doesn't have the hardware to run the game at its highest settings or even anywhere near it. Also, most of the pre release videos are from iPad 2, substantially higher specs (ram, CPU, gpu) than iPod touch 3rd gen. I'm kinda missing your point because of the age of iPod touch 3rd gen. If we want games to run on a device essentially two generations behind, well then we may as well forget about high end or even better graphics altogether. The simplest fact is any developer will develop for the current generation of devices and then try and make it work on older stuff if possible. Reduced effects and games that look worse than they do on an iPad 2 is the price of not updating your iPod touch. Unfortunate, yes. Avoidable, no not if we want high quality visuals in the latest devices. I mean the 3rd gen was launched in sept 09. I personally dont want my games to still look like they did 3 years ago.
This is true (except for, oddly enough, iPad 3 ). I guess I'm just more frustrated by the fact that the sacrifices that were made still don't aid performance by much. To me it seems like there should be a better system for porting games to older hardware. If a developer cuts back and it still doesn't run properly, why bother allowing older gen users to purchase it? I know this argument seems fairly basic, even at a barebones level, but it's frustrating not to get anything near what you paid for. While I expected a decrease in visuals and such, I didn't expect as a great a downgrade as I ended up paying for. Again, this may just end up coming off as more of silly diatribe but it's just one guy's opinion. ^^ EDIT: The third gen is really three years old? My god I'm working on a dinosaur by Apple standards.....now to sink another $500 in investments....
iPad 3 is significantly more powerful than any other iOS device or android tablet out there, it just has a HUGE amount of pixels to push. At 720p resolution, it would run far more smoothly than the iPad 2. There is, in fact, an update confirmed for nova 3 that will allow a5x users to toggle retina on and off.
For multiplayer: If you want to control the jeep even better I suggest you guys to try and change the Vehicle Driving Controls to Vehicle Control Camera option from in-game menu - options - controls - scroll down Also try NOT to shoot an enemy in the legs, he receives less damage than shooting in the torso or head.
No, it doesn't come across as diatribe. I've no doubt I'd feel the same in your position. I agree that this game, and others, shouldn't have been supported on 3rd gen because of the serious drop in framerate alone never mind lag and just general performance issues. Despite the people it would leave out, there's a lot of games out there that should have been 4th gen at least. But I think the backlash would be higher if the 3rd gen wasn't supported to some degree.
I predict that coming jan 2013 GL will drop support for a4 devices just as they dropped support for below 3rd gen jan 2011.

Don't know if it has already been asked because I'm too lazy to actually check, but what are the best perks you should have in the game?
