My point was just that the experience isn't perfect even on the "latest and greatest" of apple devices.

Lol, read more carefully. We don't want full resolution + all effects and STILL expect a remotely playable game. What we want are all the effects with only a slightly higher resolution. Say 1280xsomething. The iPad 3 is significantly more powerful than the two when it isn't pushing 4x the pixels. We want that power put to use on the effects, not resolution.

HUH? that is not what i was trying to say at all, its just a example of how to get these games to run like they should on the ipad 3.... sigh i give up , the devs just need to do this stuff to make the games run correctly with all the bells and whistles and smoothly there is no reason they cant do this its gpu with 4 processors its double the ipad 2, thats all im saying.... Chair used this technique and res lower and still looks great.

LOL just played my first multiplayer match.
This game is so sucky...base was defended with 4 people after me. I ran throuh picked up the flag and ran back to base. Did this 8 times and won. Nobody could stop me. 37 kills 20 deaths(not during flag running)
Its stopid that running never stops. I can run on forever and nobody can shoot and run at desame time. Run a bit sideways ect and enemies cant do shit against me.

But i am also a pro in mc3, so maybe im just good xD. I bet alot of people will think i was a hacker in that match lol.
It was also pretty laggy and no good graphics. It was very noticable.

Exactly. A lot of the graphics-intensive "retinafied" games run at ~1.4x resolution, which coincidentally is the sq root of 2, the ratio of the new GPU's power to the old's.

Does anyone know if it's possible for a game engine to have the in-game 3D view/objects render at 1.4x resolution and the GUI/text render at 2x full-retina resolution? That'd seem to be the best method for now.

How does it(NOVA 3) look compared to MC3 on the iPhone 4? I think MC3 looks great on the iPhone 4.

Apple not using a quad core CPU was honestly a dick move. It's just so you have a reason to get the next gen iPad. However they'll need quad A15 by then, A9 won't cut it.
The guy that's "pro" at a touchscreen FPS made me laugh. Tell me more of your amazing skill, killing people that can't aim even with auto aim on max ;)

Why does everyone think nova 3 lag on the iPad 3???
It doesn't... It never has ever for me.

We don't "think" we are playing it. And yes it lags, the framerate really dips when there's a lot of action going on, if i could show you the fps you would see that the campaign struggles constantly between 30-60fps and sometimes down to 15-20. It gets worse on some multiplayer maps and that's without all the nice effects found on the ipad 2 (dynamic shadows, depth of field, heatwaves, bloom...).
    Example:

Agreed. Nova was rushed, no doubt about it.

Spoken like a true noob of touchscreen fps's. The trick is to get used to it. I, for one, hate analog sticks. And I never use aim assist.

As for quad core CPU, that's not need for gaming. It's the gpu, people. The CPU only takes over when the gpu is maxed out. It also does physics calculations. That's pretty much it. The GPU is what's important (and ram), not the CPU.

But there's a nice lense flare to make up for all
those missing effects! Come on, ppl, lense flare is great! *rolls eyes*

Well an under performing cpu can also bottleneck the Gpu but yeah you're right.
And yes i hate auto aim too, and in nova 3 i have to disable it at the start of every match... I want a toggle that stays off damn it! : )

XDXDXD The ipad 2 also features lense flair though it's weirdly not apparent on the screenshot.

After playing for a while with my iPhone4 I can say NOVA3 it's not totally fluid like playing with iPad2 but this game has better framerate than MC3 by the most part.

Ok, so apart from the performance, what do you guys think of the game? You have to admit, the vehicles are pretty darn sweet :D

IMHO this game kicks butt on 99% of the games on the app store. I feel bad for some of you guys, that unfortunately have a device which is not that compatible with this game... but on my iphone 4S, this game is amazing... Yes, my other favourite games are Mc3, Nova2, and Mc2. So I'm not being bias.

I do believe for this title Gameloft will upate. So people with frustrations, hang in there !

Took the plunge and am pretty impressed. On my iPhone 4 there are some moments where the frame rate dips, and of course it lacks the fancier graphical effects (to be expected), but it still l
