Disagree. Nova 3 is merely a more advanced (graphically) mc3. They're essentially the same. The most significant difference is the physics system, but that's the CPU, not the gpu. Nova 3 is an unoptimized mc3 with more eye candy.

I might be wrong but isn't the iPhone 4 faster than the iPad 1? How can it be smooth on the pad and bad on iPhone 4?

Different people seem to get different performance on different devices. Could this be down to the space available on the device and how many apps are open in the background?

Well, the itouch 4 has nearly identical specs to the iPad 1, (800 MHz processor-1ghz processor, both 256 mb RAM) however, expect a slightly less stable frame rate due to the fact that you have more pixels to render. That being said, JCman reported that the campaign ran flawlessly on his itouch 4. He didn't try multiplayer, but I'm guessing that it's probably a
lagfest. Personally, I would wait until the game is updated to avoid any more frustration that necessary - that's if you just want multi. As for campaign, it's most likely fine.

Scorched earth is a pain with the new ipad, nearly 15-10fps...

I think the right word is optimization (as you said)... In MC3 they use clever design, art direction, tecturing, draw distance etc. to give an impressive result under specs for new and old devices.. In NOVA 3 they tried to be ''large'' and we are watching the results!

The only big difference between the two is that the iPhone has double the ram - 512 mb. The processors are both single core
    @800 and 1000mhz.

I really don't know. The iPhone has less pixels to
render so it it doesn't make sense...

Really? I get around 25 fps for big maps(ipad 3) It's just the control and effects that need work for me.

Yes. Exactly. I think it's playable, but it just needed another month or two of further development. RUSH RUSH RUSH!!!

Agree... specially in some scenes near to windows (with some transparent glass effects) is like you are watching slideshow (ok i am little bit dramatic but is totally pain indeed).

I cross my fingers for this but as Gameloft has prove us all these years they have very slow reactions and sometimes not at all. Because this one, is one of their big names maybe we will see some results (but i think this will happens faster with some negative ''push'' from the press and the iTunes reviews.. As they take 4 or 5 stars only god knows if they will or when improve anything).

Which is why some dev needs to start seriously competing with them in the mmorpg, freemium and fps department to knock them out of their apathy and "develop and desert" attitude about their games. Unfortunately, it probably won't happen anytime soon...:(

Ok from I've played, which is only one mission. Not as god-awful as mc3's lol. But still not all that great.

Stupid as always... But its ok because it's quite fast pace and intense overall the game feeling.

Any of you guys have trouble with the on rails parts in level 2? The darn turret is so hard to control (another rushed part of the game) and I can seem to get past it.

In multiplayer is anyone having difficulties controling the turret on the jeep? The sensibility is very low and it's really hard to aim!

I've opened a new thread on gameloft's forum about the new ipad's performance problem. I know they don't really listen there but i thought i would give it a shot:

Yes. But it takes a lot of work for good AI, there are whole departments and companies devoted to that. But it would be really nice to have a decent AI sometime.
