yes, if it will fix the framerate issueses and there is no other way, then downgrade the res. Although its odd that MC3 runs 100% fine on retina res and nova 3 doesnt. event he textures....it seems they are better in MC3.
iPad 1 performance - multiplayer - is it on par with an iPhone 4? Should I even bother downloading it if I only want multiplayer on iPad 1? Retina display - the reason Gameloft chose Retina over awesome GFX is because Retina is 'the new thing.' If they had put the resolution lower, people would be complaining about it just as much, I assure you. As far as power goes, performance scaled pretty linearly. The iPad 3 has 4x the GPU computer power as the iPad 2. Unfortunately it does not have 4x the memory bandwidth, which it would need to compete at Retina resolution and heavy GFX.
Well after playing a bit of the campaign and multiplayer on my iphone 4S. the game is truly amazing ! Smooth framerate, graphics are stunning, better than any unreal engine game I have. The campaign is actually better than Shadowgun, imo. The effects are incredible for an iphone game. ( This is just like a mini console game) Multiplayer is amazing also, real nice maps that look much better than Nova, Nova 2. This runs better than Mc3. Anyone on the fence about buying this game, just get it !!! Probably the best fps on iOS.
it apples fault for not putting a quadcore A6 processor in the new ipad for the retina display. All android phones are now coming out with quadcore processors. Instead we get a crappy A5x dual core processor which will also be in the next iphone. Why couldnt they put quadcore like android. The first ipad had a single core 1ghz process the ipad 2 has a dual core a5 processor why the hell wouldnt they go to quadcore then in the new ipad. Apple is always behind on processors.
Not planning to get the game anytime soon as I already have a backlog and no room for it. But since the majority of the talk has focused on iPhone4/4S and iPads, has anyone played this on a 3GS? Just wondering what the framerate issues are like on it. I would hope/assume that they take the device in consideration in graphics rendering (so it won't look as good on a 3GS). But wanted to know how it performs.
Anyway, the hacks have started to show up. Found one for unlimited ammo and unlimited grenades already. Not too serious as yet though it doesn't bode well. It doesn't seem to be the easiest to hack though which is good and the hacking options seem limited and detectable on Gamelofts servers. Plus the installation is not thru Cydia. It actually involves downloading a very large file and overwriting the nova installation completely so that will limit a lot of hackers for now. Thankfully not a straightforward install so the people that install the hacks are generally pretty useless at gaming so probably not very good with something that requires a bit of effort to install. Haven't found any one shot kill hacks so that's good for now. Mc3 had more hacks on day two so hopefully we will see less in this game. A second patch for mc3 would be nice though.
Yeah ok its obvious that they want to support the Apple's new candy, but i 'm sorry Gameloft (i am not a hater) do it an other way... Personally i would prefer lower res graphics (not as low as iPad2) and full effects... Just look the differences... Totally different feeling.
On the ipad2 nova3 graphics don't even compare with MC3, they are way more advanced . The fact that some older titles had frame rate problems after they were updated to retina display should have warned people ....
I know... This was the major fall down for my new i device for this game (and i am afraid similar situations on future games).
Well actually the next iPhone will likely have a different variation chip that might be a true a6. The naming of the chips is off now anyway because the iPad 2 16gb that you can buy today from apple has an upgraded chip that they still call a5 because it has the same clock speed but it is substantially smaller, uses less power and faster than the a5 chip in the pre march iPad 2 or the iPhone 4s. So if anything, the next chip will be a variation on that which will be a very good thing and probably full quad core.
Wow that is one hell of a difference. It just shows the drain the retina display puts on the processor.
WTH, i didn't know the difference was that big !!! Gameloft must fix this, by lowering the resolution, for all ipad3 owners ...
Mc3 has had several updates and optimizations. And it's GL's flagships fps, it BETTER run well. Nova 3 was rushed. Period. You can tell with the subtle, little things like laggy rreflections, bullet casings always flying from your right even of you move in different directions, etc. GL needs to update this thing to run at slightly higher resolution than the iPad 2's with all the effects. Then, with the a5x, we will enjoy the highest frame rate with all the effects. As for multi, it mostly depends on those darned servers. We just need to spam GL with our demands and hope they respond with a major update... That said, the multiplayer, when it works, is amazing. I never thought even the iPad 3 could render this stuff...much less a itouch 4. Wow. True testament to apple's hardware and GL's (somewhat) optimization.
Exactly... NOVA 3 has more advanced and complex graphics than MC3 in all ways so i think it's not wise to compare these two games (MC3 looks fabulous after the update but one way or another has not so complex graphics). The point is that they tried something that is out of their abilities and new iPads iPhones capabilities... That's why i prefer, for now, lower res graphics and full effects for this game... Lost Winds 2 which is using this method is more enjoyable in the eye and the backgrounds are full of life (even not so sharp as NOVA), not like this that except enemies all the other stuff in the screen stands still (speaking for iPad 3 lost effects).
OK ABOUT THE GRAPHICS! Can someone please talk about performance on iPad 1? Is multiplayer playable? PLEASE?
performance is very very nice on iPad 1, view distance is limited and it's lacking a lot of visual effects, but it's near perfect smooth
