Anyone else psyched for the release next week? Can't get enough of Coldplay; they were spectacular during the Rock in Rio 2011 concert and the buzz MX is generating so far is out of this world.
I also preordered it. They were amazing in all the festivals they played in this year. I can't wait 10 more days, I need MX now!
I'm not overly excited, but will probably pick it up anyway. Got all their other albums. There are some pretty good hook-ups on there, too. Read a great interview with them yesterday and they said when they travel to gigs separately, they can go on the underground train with the fans and they don't even get recognised!! All of their previous albums have reached #1, so I think I may just help them keep the tradition going!
Had to ruin this thread, whilst staying on topic, to say that this band has pretty much released garbage after A Rush of Blood to the Head. I really liked their first two releases though, and even saw them live once back when they barely Released A Rush of Blood. Was a pretty good show.
The thread won't be ruined because of your valid opinion... no harm done I also felt Parachutes and ARoBttH were their greatest works. They clearly steered into new territories with X&Y and VLV, and have gone all-out with MX. I however still appreciate and truly enjoy their music; it still takes me to places far and beyond this world with I close my eyes and listen to them with a good pair of headphones in solitude. With the exception of a few tracks on MX, most of it is pretty great. The video for Paradise just released a few hours ago:
Now THAT I like! (The paradise vid) The rest of MX just doesn't appeal to me nearly as much. My favorite songs by them are Clocks, Viva la Vida and now Paradise.
hahahaha I was more or less joking ^.^ But yeah see stuff like this song, I just can't get into. Nothing will ever compare to songs like "In My Place" of "The Scientist" (which by the way still jerks a couple of tears out of me when I listen to it). Those are just really... amazing and emotional songs for me.
Agreed. You might like Us Against The World from MX in that case - quite slow, emotional and overall a great track. Check it out with a nice pair of headphones while in the dark
I'll have to check it out when it comes out. I don't feel like finding it and picking it up through leaked illegal means today, since I probably won't like much of the album hahahaha
I don't know about this new abum. I absolutely hated the single "every teardrop is a waterfall". It's like they asked Rebecca Black to do the lyrics because they were too lazy. Seriously, I think their best albums were the first two. X&Y was okay but it went downhill with Viva.
I quite liked both that single and Viva La Vida...easily the most relaxing music I have ever listened too.. I guess it's just personal preference.
I appreciate that Coldplay is pushing boundaries and shifting quite a bit from their usual style to experiment, but honestly, some of the songs on this album are just...beyond bad. Just like Watabou said, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall is pretty much Rebecca Black talent. And Princess of China? That song everyone is super hyped up about because it features Rihanna? Well, I was quite excited for it, too, just because, well, it's Coldplay and Rihanna! Quite a surprise collaboration that was definitely worth a listen! But alas, the song is a wreck comprised of the new more electronic-based Coldplay, glimpses of the classic Coldplay, typical Rihanna, and one of the most mainstream choruses I've heard, ever.
Charlie Brown, Paradise, Major Minus, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall. Best songs on that album IMO. To be quite honest, for ETISAW I only listened to the music and not the vocals...
Don't get me wrong I love Coldplay... But this album was disapointing... Listened to half of the previews and by then I couldn't take it anymore... Was looking forward to this but overall dissatisfied....
