So yesterday I entered a giveaway on twitter to win an iPad. I really want one, but my Dad says its too expensive for us. Anyways I had a good feeling for some reason. I expected to win. I lost. However, I really won. The company says I lost, but I quadruple checked and can confirm that I won. How? Well, the company picks the winner by choosing an absolutely random time of the day. The person closest to that time with a tweet having two things in it (a link/a hashtag) wins the iPad. Yesterday's time was 3:25 PM. The winner was @nabeel_syed and his tweet was at 3:27 PM(I can confirm with pictures) My tweets were at 3:24 PM and 3:26 PM. I have @replied the company several times asking them why I lost, but I've received no reply yet. I even emailed them about 2 hours ago and am still waiting for a response. My twitter is http://www.twitter.com/qzia The winning account (which should have lost) is http://www.twitter.com/nabeel_syed The company account is http://www.twitter.com/websdotcom To enter the giveaway you had to put in a tweet #websdotcom and http://bit.ly/ipadme Here is how they selected the random time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR9YTofqW6Y The only way you guys can help me is by @replying @websdotcom and telling them me (@qzia) should've won. EDIT: Screenshots: My tweet at 3:24 PM yesterday: http://img683.yfrog.com/i/vh6.jpg/ My tweet at 3:26 PM yesterday: http://img52.yfrog.com/i/dpv.jpg/ Nabeel Syed's tweet at 3:27 yesterday: http://img519.yfrog.com/i/rt2n.jpg/
whats in it for me? I already have an ipad shipping to me, as well as $50 itunes cards, a case, and 2 year replacement fee. oh yeah, 32 GB
Are you sure it's not a different time zone, open to UK only or US only or you posted AM and it was chosen PM?
Same time zone, I live in US, and it was PM and I posted PM. And you guys are a lot more selfish then I thought
Dude, if all the conditions that you have presented are true, then I agree that it is unfortunate you lost. However, for you to ask us to e-mail the contest people on your behalf is asking quite a bit. I'm sorry, but I am not going to dedicate my time searching through terms and conditions and trying to investigate something as illegitimate as a twitter-based contest. For all we know, it was a complete hoax, and nobody really won. I'd be frustrated too if I got had, but taking it out on us as being "selfish" is a tad ridiculous. There are too many other things to worry about - such as another work week starting tomorrow
That sucks. But I doubt bombarding the company with tweets from random people is the best way to procede. A strongly worded (yet polite) email advising the company in question that you've sought legal advice (even if you haven't) and have contacted ic3 (online feds) in regard to the matter should suffice. I was once scammed online when buying an iPhone and managed to get back my cash plus compensation equal to what I paid back in this way. Best of luck
Why are we selfish, you didn't win the contest, and you feel like you should have, where does it say the winner was at 3:25 and what are the rules for it? I can't afford an iPad, so what, I'll save up a year for one, or better yet, deal with it.
Get over it! You're being a brat. You already have an idevice. Yelling at people because you didn't get an iPad. Do something else then try to get strangers to waste their time online for you. The contest was maybe just a PR event and just chose 3:25 without knowing. Plus, it sounds lime you posted all the time to win. That probably broke the rules.
You all suck. qasim, if you want to put some pressure on the company just politely request people retweet a message, copy and pasting isn't hard work. Everyone else, you don't have an iPad, get over it. The dude should've won so cut him some damn slack. It's friggin' Easter and you're supposed to be in a friendly mood.
If he won, it's rightfully his. If you won an iPad you'd probably wouldn't be to happy if they announced someone else as the winner, and I definitely don't think you would sit there and watch someone else take the prize because you "accepted the fact your not getting an iPad"
If they haven't replied yet, not sure what else you can do. Is their some organization you can go to about this? Also, was their a terms of agreement thing you had to accept? Otherwise, it's technically not a legitimate contest, just a random tweet.
Well qasim they did not replied to you yet so my best advice is to wait for their reply and check the Terms and Condition of the contest and if you should have rightfully won then you just have to wait and watch a couple of iPad promo vid
I entered that contest also, although since I'm a noob at Twitter, I have no clue how you check out the exact time (it only says about 5 hours ago, etc.) Still, I would have been pretty mad if I won that contest but someone else took my prize. Screenshots aren't enough though these days, as there's something called Photoshop. Professionals can easily change the time and such.
