Aha! See? He's merely cranking out cheap RTSs and sweet-talking us to make us think we're happy with the "product" he's sold us knowing he put no effort into it. Oh, what a sad, sinister place this world has become... jk, jk. Anyways, about the current game, there will be massive explosions, yes? Explosions that turn the screen white for several seconds leaving nothing behind but a huge crater that could fill Lake Superior? As long as I have explosions to satisfy the primal portion of my psyche, I'm happy.
you could send a pm asking to beta test the game but aren't allowed to post it on the forums unless there is a thread asking for testers.
Hehe i never said it'll be out in a month. I said we're not going to be anywhere near beta phase in at least a month.
lol how many faction does this game has. Also are you going to have a close beta or open beta? If you are having a open beta try ibetatest.com
Thanks for listening to your users, it is really cool to be able to communicate with a dev like this. Personally I would like to see: 1. More focus on fewer powerful units (Think small groups like warcraft 3 vs Starcraft) this will make it easier to play with a limited screen size, also it will allow more unit detail. 2. One click building. Right now in QC if you want to build a unit you click on the tiny button and then a huge pop-up comes up making sure we want to build it. Please include an option that disables the pop-up and allows us to build the unit with one touch. 3. Capture the flag mode. 4. An pause button that shows an ingame encyclopedia 5. Simple lvling system for units With features like these I think that you can set yourself apart from others and get some front page exposure. (BTW why hasn't QC been on the front page of Touch Arcade? Do you have to pay them to review your app or something?) Also with these graphics premade you can use them in other projects, like maybe a hellgate london rpg? Thanks for your work and don't forget to pace yourself, we expect a lot from you
I'm not sure if I've seen this in RTS's in the iPhone gaming but you can add those tankers that goes underground and un-spotted and reaches a base in a matter of minutes, shooting fire (check C&C: Tiberian Sun). Forgot what they're called but that would be something I would love, next to cyborgs -Tiberian Sun tanks: 1. Subterranean APC "This armored-personal-carrier is extremly sly and cunning.Burrowing itself underground,it can appear out of nowhere carrying pesky engineers.Very useful in crippling an enemies production facility. it is clearly a better choice compared to GDI's amphibious APC." 2. Devil's tongue "A subterranean flame tank. It's ability to burrow makes it look useful but actually no.It's worthless. Try damaging a Titan using this.Zilch.No damage will be done.Good for taking out infantry though. Also provides an excellent diversion for your burrowing APC."
Couldn't have you mentioned the unit pathing and gatherer speed while you were beta-ing? Javier, i hope to bring you some insightful ideas before 1.0 goes out. By the way, do you have an idea for the user interface yet? I may have an original design.
a WC3 type race would be awesome (u know like a peasant who could mine gold and other resources, basic ground, and air units, and upgrades xD) or something along the lines of a starcraft race xD srry i cant realy think right now
i was thinking about this for a while and i came to a conclusion. I like the idea of you starting a whole new rts, but i think working on it now, even just starting, is a bit too soon. I know you work hard, even too hard, maybe you should take a smaller daily load. I just think that there's enough little things to fix on GQ to worry about now and getting it to its full potential before starting another game. Getting it to be a true bang for its buck (or four). Usually big companies like blizzard can permit themselves to work on several projects at once, but they have whole dedicated teams and still have to postpone deadlines and such. I just see updating a game while working on a new one as a risky move for a one man team (even though you have someone who can make the models, you are the only one who does the coding, right? Your task is the hardest). Well it depends...if this tv star is paying you to work on the new project, that changes everything.
Don't worry i'll be working on QC until the graphic assets for this new RTS are nearly done. that will take some time for sure.
Keep it up, Javier, loved QC! (PS I made an account for this so if you abandon the project I'll be mad )
I thought the gathering speed was good because if it was faster it wouldn't be any fun and the unit path was perfect but I was sending stuff all over the places so I might have skipped that because playing in normal you have to send units to here to reinforce here and respond an attack here so I didn't payed much attention to it.
Maybe you can add a superweapon for each faction that can be used periodically. And give units a primary weapon and a secondary weapon, each one being more effective against certain units.
I Agree, QC still needs way to much work for the one man team to start working on another project. Everything about the game needs to be polished. The font, the maps (with what did you make them? They do not look defined at all), the AI, the space needed to build buildings (need an entire town just to build a tiny building), the UI, .... I purchasd because I wanted to support you and I love RTS, but the game is rather far from being done.
It quite possible to make a game which is compatible with both iPhone OS 2.2.1 and iPhone OS 3.0. Apple wants you to make sure that your titles are compatible with iPhone OS 3.0, but that does not prevent you from also making your games compatible with iPhone OS 2.2.1.
Well I do agree with most of what you wrote, that is a bit harsh I think... Perhaps some things like the maps are too complicated for the limitations of the iphone. With the limited screen size it is annoying to try to path your workers around slight hills they can't climb or build a base that you can't see much of. imo it is harder to program for the limitations of the Ipod's screen/lack of keyboard than it is for the cpu. As I stated in my previous post it does need to be optimized/simplified for the small screen space. I have full faith in the dev as he has had some very innovative ideas in the past. (think unit selction and recall)
