I couldn't agree more. What is up with the lack of Eliss? One of the best games on the device that really takes full advantage of the multi touch. I purchased Critter Crunch awhile ago and love it. Some other games that I think should be owned by everyone: Carcassonne (best board game on the device) Tumbledrop (really fun physics puzzler) Blimp
I'll definitely second Jailbreak: Voice Onrush. Although described as a pacman-style game, i think that categorises it maybe a little too narrowly- the powerups that you can get, such as being able to freeze your pursuers, or teleport, and the emphasis on escaping from each stage as a progression from waking up in a mysterious facility, through the sewers, to a town etc. make it a little more involved than straight score-play. The 8-bit, graphical style is reminiscent of old-school games, so it won't appeal to everybody, while the lo-fi electro soundtrack is also something that i liked a lot, but YMMV. For me, it has a lot of replay value as well, since you unlock time attack and survival modes too, so it's fun to go back to a stage that you just managed to scrape through and try to sneak through it as fast as possible. Overall, i'm liking it a lot!
Anyone know if tractor beam has leaderboards or at least local high scores where you can enter your name ? It looks fun, but it seems like there are no online and possibly no local high scores.
@polarsolstice: were you talking to me? Heh, in fact, i haven't finished it yet, so the part where i mentioned unlocking survival mode is speculative, and based on reviews i'd read! It sounds strange, but playing this kind of game, where you can't just blast the enemies mindlessly, really makes me feel uncomfortable and tense, because it's quite high-pressure. Strange, but enjoyable definitely.
My vote goes to 1. Broken Sword - Definately under the radar. Should be in the Top 10. 2. Elven Chronciles Basically 1 of the best rpgs and my favourite is: 3. Slyder Adventure Don't know why, but i keep playing this addictive game
I played Eliss lite and I don't get it, quite simply. I don't think many people do either. Broken Sword, if I haven't said it before. And Red Conquest.
Eliss is definitely something you will love or hate but it is worth the attempt because it really is a fun game that really puts the multi touch of the device to good use. I'll admit when I first played the lite version I wasn't a fan, mostly because I didn't read exactly what the goal was and I had no idea what I was to do. After I payed attention and found out what to do and plugged in some headphones I couldn't stop playing it. I'm also going to mention Zen Bound. While not under rated it is a game every iDevice user should own.
Archibald's Adventure, Hoggy, Three Little Piggies, Toki Tori, Bobby Carrot, Babylonian Twins, Ice Age?
In no particular order: 1. I second any mention of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars 2. Dark Void Zero - retro greatness 3. Hand of Greed - incredibly addictive/awesome gameplay 4. Horror Racing - great isometric racer 5. ICombat - best pocket tank game 6. Isle of 8 Bit Treasure - has its flaws but after Sword of Fargoal, best casual rogue like game. Better than 100 rogues. 7. Metal Wars II - best mech game on the app store 8. Playman Track and Field - great pick up and play game 9. Skyworks World Cup Table Tennis - best ping pong game 10. Aera - a lot of fun. Cool gameplay mechanics 11. Caster - great game from dedicated devs
No problem It's totally worth it. If your still unsure, try the lite, it will give you a feel for the game. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here are a few more hidden gems: iFlexis - match 3 game that uses bouncy physics and is very polished Radial 50 - brick breaker that is played in a circle G. Blacksmith Color - TM game with an awesome art style and an endless mode along with classic level mode
PEP the Dragon: cute platformer with "magic spells" to use such as drawing a bridge for the dragon to cross over
