SO, this program called windows police pro is currently murdering my computer. you guys can look it up if you wanna know the technical details. but anyways, i was just thinking about putting in some recovery discs, and starting over to the day i bought the computer, thus purging everything on my computer. is there anyway to back up the data besides using a external harddrive?

I don't know how much those two links will help you, but I know in another forum I participate in someone had the same problem and they said the advice from these two links helped fix the problem. I know very little about computers in the technical sense (i.e., exactly how viruses work, I always use Norton), but this seemed to help so I suggest you give them at least a look through if you can.

Ok, I visited those 2 links. Apparently, this trojan is brand new, and very little is known about it :( thus removing it will be extremely difficult, and you can manually remove it, but its extremely complicated and if you mess one simple little thing up..... well lets just say you now have a electronic door step

you know.. i look at the name, windows police pro, and wish i still had my Mac :( I never had stupid problems like this... if these forums allowed cursing, i would express myself, but oh well... i dont know what im going to do now :(

Not sure, but would having some sort of lockdown software help? Block all ports completely, and then only allow those that you use? Something like "Little Snitch". But then again, more and more services and malware are trying to be force-fed through port 80.... which is exactly the port that HTTP goes through... Good luck!

hmmm.... ill try that.....but here's whats happened so far. i went with the manual option of removing..... and now there's something wrong with rundll32.exe (used to open most programs). it got messed up somehow. so now, when i try to open an executable, some window pops up asking me which program i would like to open the current program with

and when i try to open something in places like control panel, it says: C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe APPLICATION NOT FOUND

alot of people have told me how to fix it, but you need the windows OS cd (im on XP), and i dont think i have it anymore :(

Is it like Trojan Gamer or something?
I had this virus before and when you tried to kill the virus it just made this weird noise

dont know, never heard of trojan gamer, but its just your basic rouge scareware program, but on steroids, that gives you an extreme headache because it took me nearly 30 hours to remove.... and left me in a extremely pissed off mood

anyways, i think i might have it resolved, but the rundll32.exe thing is really killing me... :(

i have a report due and i cant access anything!!!! why does it have to happen to me!!!!! (apparently, tons of people got it the same exact day I did, and no one has really resolved it yet)

not necessarily the disc but the .CAB files located in the i386 folder directory. It might be on your computer if it's like a Sony on partitioned hard drive. Can't remember the cryptic terminal commands for extracting the relevant file tho. It's been a long time since I trawled through that sh!t.....

ok my computer just got screwed to the max. it says im missing a critical file and it wont even let me log into accounts. i have no other choice but....... I HAVE TO PURGE MY COMPUTER OF THE EVILNESS THAT HAS INFECTED IT AND CLEANSE THE WICKEDNESS THAT RESIDES INSIDE THE CORE!!!! (a.k.a put in some recovery disks and wipe the harddrive clean :))
