**I just noticed that this appeared in a different part of the forums than I clicked. I intinded to post on "other discussion". My apologies, I think I should have enabled all javascript for this page**

I purchased an application that boasted the best memory clearing tech around. Apple forced the app devs to remove that feature completely. my guess is they wanted to force people to buy the next series of devices for more memory (the same reason they disabled force quit in 3.0?)

Here is my review in it's entirety. I probably was a bit too outraged to think clearly, but I stand by the position of wanting to jailbreak now, if not for this then for the things under it in the pile.

"This application is something I solely purchased for the ability to free memory up as if I had reset my ipod touch, in half the time. Now apple gets pissed off that we aren't playing to their whims and buying an iphone 3gs for more memory rather than freeing up more ourselves, and takes away our utilities. I'm not updating for this, and this is a very tempting reason to Jailbreak.

Serioiusly though, Apple is the king of bad PR, and this is a good example.

BOO APPLE! GIVE ME BACK MY $0.99!"

(and yes, I did ask for $0.99 back, It's not so much the money as the difficulty they may have in doing so- nevertheless something tells me refunds are always out of the question for this company, after all I did pay for it online and download it in the same minute. what a bullshit practice, and it will really harm the app store. )

This doesn't just extend to memory utilities or google voice. just about anything could have a feature apple "takes offense" to. an example is the Duke Nukem 3d app. will we lose the ability to go up to a woman and hand her a dollar bill? Will Duke lose his voice period? It's impossible to say. How about The Quest? are we going to see Chillingo forced to release an update that turns blood to rainbows? Is iFPS Online going to be forced to lose it's chat features? Is Wesnoth going to be denied approval because it has a feature that allows downloads of additional content without paying for iphone OS 3.0?

May seem ridiculous in some cases, but I firmly believe that most of this is within apple's bounds of probable actions. I'd rather pay on Cydia and risk credit fraud than support a company like apple that neuters it's developers.
at least when I'm defrauded I can call the card company and have them investigate the charges within a few days (I know my rights)

I still have free memory apps :D

Recession Apps removed theirs, and Bjango updates theirs to remove the free memory button.

    Couple of observations:
    1. Force quit is now found in the "slide to turn off" area. You need to hold the power button to get the slider, then you hold the home button for a while.

    2. If you demand a refund, 100% of the money comes from the developer despite the fact that the developer only got 70% of the money from the sale.

Don't update. Or, at least, save the previous ipa from the trash so you can rollback to the earlier version. I am keeping my old iStat. I would rather have the "free memory" button than the battery life indicator: there is already a battery life indicator built in (though it is small.)

Anyway, it's unfortunate you told Apple of your plans to jailbreak. I'm sure the van with the tinted windows will be by to pick you up shortly. Goodbye.

EDIT: Oh wait, I still have Free Memory. I can have it all.

im starting to hate apple now. now, they're blaming the consumers for the exploding iphones, claiming that they were "putting too much pressure on the screen", which is BS

Incorrect. It is possible this may happen, but the only refund I have seen was just 70% (not that apple would tell me why they gave one in the first place)
