Yeah, that's basically what I'm like. I like almost all kinds of metal, and find it pretty annoying when people try to break it into ridiculous sub-genres. The only subgenres I break it into are "Music I Enjoy" and "Music I Don't Enjoy".
As long as people don't call electronic music "techno", it's cool with me. inb4 people go "what's wrong with that?"
Hard rock, classic rock, a little bit of emo, metal, heavy metal, christian metal, glam metal...the only type of metal I don't like is black metal. Top 10 Songs (for now) Elysian Fields-Megadeth Raining Blood-Slayer Vertigo-Haste the Day Kashmir-Led Zeppelin Desecrate Through Reverence-Avenged Sevenfold The End of the Line-Metallica All Nightmare Long-Metalica Run For the Hills-Iron Maiden Girl-Beatles Nothing to Say-Slash in no particular order
hey from the school.. i like rock, metal.. sure means different things to everyone but you get the jist. granted i like old school metal. but still its ok to be so general we do not have always be so anal about categories etc etc.. music rocks. chris.

to be honest I think there are way too many sub genres anyway, forcing bands into either becoming repetitive or moving away from their strict sub genre and scaring people by changing too much. for example, emo, hardcore and screamocore are all just ranging extremities of a genre, and sometimes bands get heavier, or less heavy (usually...) and bands shouldn't be forced into a genre
I don't think bands have ever been forced into a genre. They just write whatever the hell they want and then a genre is created around that. There are a few exceptions when record companies coax bands into selling out, but ignoring the shitheads...

So I couldn't find another general Music Thread on the Lounge using the search function; i'm assuming this isn't it since it hasn't gotten any replies in ages, but oh well. To the top you go! Is it too late to comment how f***ing amazing 'Use Somebody' by Kings of Leon is? It might be a bit odd but, this is the first and only KoL song i've heard more than once because of immediately falling in love with it. Dunno - makes me kind of want to check out their other material now. Besides that - have been listening to Akcent's My Passion constantly for the past 3 months... the beats are fantastic. Has been on my Gym playlist non-stop. Connections:
KoL struck gold with their "Only by the Night" Album, it really did have some decent songs. So much so, that I was inspired to download the rest of their discography. That was the biggest mistake of my life. Their older material is soooo soooooo soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo f*cking awful that it totally turned me off from even trying to listen to ObtN again. >.<
This is what I love about music, I'm the opposite way round. I loved the quirkier, less polished and weirder older stuff, really sounded unique to me, however I was quite disappointed with their last two albums, although closer (opening track on ObtN) is perhaps in my top 25 for epic songs, it sends shivers down my spine.
Me too! hahahaah good to see someone on the other side of the spectrum. From the sounds of things to me, I don't know how anyone could listen to that. It was almost like a drunk Jesus making love to a squirrel in Tennessee. hahahah I've heard worse things though.
