Not sure if anyone else has had this problem, since I'm just running on a 2G, but it seems like there's been a lot more lag in the game since the Christmas update. The Christmas level itself is virtually unplayable on my 2G. The others aren't as bad, but I definately see a difference from when I first started playing it.
The game doesn't lag on my iPad 2, but I guess that isn't a shock. Hopefully they can optimize it back to the level it was before for older hardware.
So I just beat the lava boss, now I've got the knight and prince flags, can I do both at the same time? I wouldn't mind running through as the prince but if it means I'll lose the ability to continue my 61% progress as a knight I'll just stick with my original file so I can keep working on unlocking beanstalk. Yeah so if anyone knows who can help point out whether you can do both at the same time switching as you so choose without being locked out of previous work would be a great help! Cheers
Don't worry, you can come back to any mode (knight, prince, etc) at any time, and you won't lose any progress.
@GuerrillaBob: awp69 raises a valid point, which I thought was only mine. The performance for Muffin Knight has been deteriorating especially in older devices, thanks to the improved graphic density. While I love it on my iPad, I have stopped playing it in my iPod 2G. Would it be possible for you to add a low-quality graphical options, with less background detail/animations, or less polygons in the models, so that all of us could get back to enjoying the game? It would make wonders, since Muffin Knight is a very good game to play on the go. Thank you, Paulo
We're working on some serious optimizations.. but it's really hard to get the game to run super smooth on the iPod 2G, with all the monsters and effects on the screen at the same time... maybe it would help if you zoom in to the max, so it wouldn't render everything (pinch to zoom)
Hi GuerrillaBob, Thank you for the reply, and I appreciate the candid answer. I empathize with the optimization problems, especially being a developer myself. If I may pinpoint a few times when the game clearly suffers, so that maybe you could reduce the animations there in a potential lo-quality version, they are: - Whenever we pick up a new weapon/a new muffin shows up (and yes, I already disabled the voice commentary. Maybe it's still consuming resources, even though it's set to 0, or maybe it's the animation of changing costume?) - The moment when new monsters appear (or maybe it's related to when the cloud above them shows up/disappears). I hope this helps. Thank you, and a happy new year. Paulo
Look forward to any optimizations you can give. I loved this game and, not to diss Super Crate Box, but found that overall experience is better in Muffin Knight with a reasonable system of character upgrades and, particularly, the perk system. However, since the Christmas update, I've stopped playing it and have now joined the SCB crowd (although I suck at it because I got used the perks, etc., in MK). In some ways, I wish I hadn't updated. As I mentioned before, the Christmas level itself is pretty much unplayable. And all the other levels have deteriorated in performance. Anyway, I know you guys drew inspriation from SCB, but you really did do a fantastic job of fleshing out the idea. Both games are fun, however. Just hope I can get back into playing this someday.
Any way we can go back to the previous version please. This one crashes a lot and lags so bad I literally disappear in one place and reappear in another. Using a non jb 3GS on 5.0.1. Thanks.
Any chance that portrait mode will be added? Like how it's done in Super Crate Box? That's preferable for iCade play. Great game in any case (I like both games a lot).
The game has never ran smooth on my 4th gen ipod touch on both iOS 4.x & 5.x (I'm not jail broker). My only request for updates is to make the game smooth. The game was really fun at first, but after a few updates, it lagged more and more so I just stopped playing it. And yes, after closing multitask bar & hard rebooting, the game still lags... =/
and i thought upgrades in mikamobiles games were expensive, at least there was no iap in comparison to this game. and yes, some levels are sometimes laggy on iphone 4, which is i would say unacceptable for such game.
