Whoa. The Dark Knight Rises: so intense and incredible!!! Christopher Nolan really raised the bar, and it had a perfect ending!!! Spoiler So... "Robin" is going to become the new Batman??
Just came back from Batman... Not bad. Not bad at all. Though I can't say it was EPICALLYFANTASTICALLYMAGICAL It was certainly a very competent and very strong end to the series. Very nice change from the typical devolution of a series nowadays.
One more thing. Regarding the ending: Spoiler I fully expected the film to end with Alfred smiling at us. It would have then been left open for interpretation like the ending in Inception. Really glad Nolan gave us that final scene. Bruce finally gets the ending that he'll never find in the comics.
Spoiler So I personally believe Bruce activated the auto-pilot and escaped the explosion, found Catwoman, and left to Florence or wherever, but I've also heard the theory that Alfred was just "imagining" seeing Bruce and Selena together... What do you think?
Spoiler Definitely. There wouldn't be the scene with Fox at the end if Alfred imagined it all. The scene where it cuts to Batman 10 seconds before the bomb goes off is to throw watchers off. That first explosion when Blake thinks the bomb went off is when Batman actually escaped. It was a diversion.
Spoiler The one thing I didn't really like about the movie besides the oftentimes weird pacing was the "big" twist. Bane was supposed to be such an interesting character with all that backstory development. When we find out that Talia was the real child of Ras..it just felt pretty pointless. Didn't change much. Then, Bane died in half a second, and that was that. Like I said though, the ending was perfect. It's just important to realize that the close-up on Batman 10 seconds before the bomb detonates was not showing him at that moment. It's showing him when he decides to eject while he's still in the city. That scene with Alfred at the end has to be one of the best moments in recent film history.
Spoiler I felt Bane's demise was rushed, too. So was Bane actually working under Talia the whole time?
Watching DKR tomorrow night in IMAX so I'm skipping all comments in this thread until then. In the meantime though, I'm posting the Man of Steel trailers shown so far (excepting the Comic-Con long trailer, that had the best music and footage but it's not released for the public yet. ) Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Saw batman yesterday, excellent movie. I can't decide if I liked spiderman or batman more... Spoiler Anyways some parts of the movie were somewhat predictable for example Robin. I was pretty much knew it was going to be that guy 1/2 way through. Even though I doubt it I'd love to see a Batman&Robin movie with the same cast. Would be awesome!
Spoiler Thats not robin, its NIGHTWING!! I enjoyed it so much and I came out really happy knowing I predicted the entire film. Didnt ruin a single bit of it for me though/
TDKR was a fitting, satisfying end to the trilogy. Bane wasn't as mesmerizing as Ledger was in the Dark Knight, but it's unfair to knock the movie solely based on that. Spoiler Yes I thought Bane's death was a little quick, but how else should he have died? Miranda's betrayal came as a surprise, maybe it was a little far fetched. Whatever now I'm being too picky. What's the difference between Nightwing and Robin? Why is Nolan suggesting a sequel when he's stated he's never coming back to the series?
Spoiler I don't think he's necessarily suggesting a sequel, I think he's just ending the series on a good note. WB can make a sequel if they want to, but these series have a solid ending. Oh and Nightwing is who Dick Grayson became after he retired as Robin...
Just saw Dark Knight Rises, and I absolutely loved it. I can't decide which movie I liked better- Dark Knight, or Dark Knight Rises. Heath Ledger did have quite the presence- but he was the Joker. That's a part of personality. What else do you expect from Batman's greatest foe? Bane on the other hand isn't quite as interesting as the Joker- I think Tom Hardy played him right. There's only so much you can do with an (uninteresting?) character without completely re-writing them to have more of a presence. Dark Knight Rises feels more like a transformation of Batman/Bruce Wayne's character than Dark Knight. In Dark Knight, there definitely is a transformation, but it's a more minor one than in Rises, and is also about the downfall of his character. The thing I like about Nolan's Batman movies isn't just that the world feels real- the characters do too. A lot of other movies in the same genre have very stereotypical, fake characters. Of course, you could argue that his Batman movies are more drama than action. Something I really wish Nolan had done was include the Penguin somewhere in his series. He would've fit in perfectly. Also, Spoiler who else recognized the 'judge' (Scarecrow- he really should have gassed some of the captives when letting them choose their sentence. Seems like something the Scarecrow would do, just to torment them- I mean, it was their deaths he was handling). Spoiler As for the whole Robin thing being lazy, I disagree. If you've ever known anybody (male) with the name Robin, they normally don't like it very much- trust me, my dad's name is Robin (so he goes by Rob instead) and people constantly mistake him for a woman (based off his name) over the phone, internet, mail, etc. The name sucks if you're a guy. Every guy I've known that had the name Robin has gone by something else- some Rob (like my dad) and others completely unrelated names, like David. I was actually snickering at that part, because of the lady's comment. One more thing: Spoiler I like how Nolan stuck with the whole 'one main villain and another concealed behind everything' bit in this movie. He did it in Batman Begins with Scarecrow appearing to be the main baddie, but it was actually Ra's al Ghul. He did it with Dark Knight- Joker was the main bad guy, but he managed to corrupt Harvey Dent (Two-Face) and after the Joker was taken down, Harvey was still causing havoc. In Dark Knight Rises, Bane seems to be the main villain, but it actually turns out that Talia al Ghul was behind everything.
Spoiler Yeah, that Scarecrow cameo was awesome. Did he even still have some of his drug? Doesn't Batman accost him at the beginning of Dark Knight? And he just broke out of Arkham when Bane freed all the other crooks.
