Nolan is just a producer on that movie (I think he shares story credits with David Goyer). Zack Snyder is doing the actual directing. It depends on how you look at it, in the Nolan movies everything is as grounded as possible, but Batman is still a guy who can beat up multiple armed opponents (like the climax of TDK where he had to take down henchmen, SWAT police, hostages, dogs AND the Joker, and still had to jet across town to resolve a hostage situation).
Really? It has been some time since I've looked into the Superman movie and I thought he was directing. The last I read about Superman was when Goyer left the project to do Godzilla.
I'm a little late to seeing this (had finals ), but I just saw Cabin in the Woods and it was awesome. The Left 4 Dead reference was pretty cool to see
Anyone going to the midnight showing in the US tonight? Sure wish I could. Won't be able to see The Avengers until next Saturday.
Bought nine IMAX 3d tickets Monday so I think I am good to go with friends tonight I'll be waiting in line very soon..
Will do Yep, May 4th. First showing tonight at 12:10am. Edit: Well, that was a pretty good movie. Nothing spectacular, but overall, good. I haven't read the comics, so I can't make any comparisons, but I felt that the story was a little weak and too predictable. Would I see it again? Most likely not in theaters, but probably when it comes out on DVD. If I had a choice, I'd rather see Cabin in the Woods or 21 Jump Street again since those movies were awesome
Hulk definitely stole the show--Just don't make another Hulk movie. Iron Man and Hawkeye were great too, the others are okay. I also thought the story was weak but with all those awesome characters and being forced to cut about half an hour of the film, I think it is a pretty good superhero film from Joss Whedon. I would watch it again and probably tomorrow or Sunday.
I'm not sure am I one of the few who did this but I didn't see the story as Loki and the chitauri invasion. I took it as the title (here anyway) stated, Avengers Assemble. The story was of the characters of all different backgrounds and personalities working together as a single unit. That's why whedons dialogue shone so much because it told this story do well. The threat could have been anything, it was irrelevant to the real story at hand.
Oh yea, the characters were awesome -- the Hulk and Iron Man especially. I wouldn't mind another Hulk movie, as long as Mark Ruffalo is Bruce Banner again; he was better than the Eric Bana/Ed Norton Hulks, IMO But seeing what Joss Whedon did with Cabin in the Woods (he wrote it), I wouldn't have minded a little twist somewhere in The Avengers
To those who have already seen the Avengers in 3D, is it worth seeing in 3D? Also, has anyone seen The Avengers with DBOX motion seats? Is that worth it??
My nine year old brother just IMed me saying that he saw The Avengers today with my parents. I'm pretty damn jealous, wow, lol..
I just saw it, it was great, though I thought it didn't really ramp up until way late in the game. Hulk... HULK! Everything about him is awesome. Spill.com said it best: "In the last movies he was a misunderstood brute, here he's just an asshole." Somehow he works better as part of a group that's tiptoe-ing around him rather than some mope walking around full of self pity. Spoiler Sucker punching Thor. Going BamBam on Loki. "My secret is I'm always angry". And Black Widow really surprised me with how effective she was. I didn't expect the interrogation trick to come back the way it did Only thing is I saw a 6:30pm showing of this, cause I went with my friend who had his kid with him and wanted to be back home before it was too late. I think I would have enjoyed it more with a midnight crowd.
$80.5 million opening day for The Avengers. Second best of all time. Who knows, it might just knock The Dark Knight or The Hunger Games down a spot for best opening weekend. We're going to have to wait for TDKR to knock HP7 P2 off of the top spot though. I have no doubt in my mind that the movie will completely destroy records for best opening day and weekend. $200 million+ opening weekend anyone? Calling it now.
