Spike Lee's officially doing the Oldboy remake. Trailers for Dark Knight Rises, Sherlock Holes 2 this week, Amazing Spider-Man trailer in a few weeks.
Well, technically Amazing Spiderman at Comic Con, TDKR, Sherlock Holmes 2, Happy Feet 2, John Carter and probably Hugo (Martin Scorsese) are attached to Harry Potter 8. And the trailer for Contagion (Soderbergh, Damon, Law, Cotillard, Winslett) is releasing Friday as well.
Five film left to see this summer for me: -Harry Potter 7 Part 2 -Winnie the Pooh -Captain America -Cowboys and Aliens -Rise of the Planet of the Apes Should be a good final month of releases for the summer. Might watch Horrible Bosses too one of these days. That actually looks pretty funny, and the reception has been good. Edit: Wow, Harry Potter 7 Part 2 has an excellent rating so far in comparison to the rest of the series. So freaking excited for this Friday. Going to catch one of the first shows for sure. Will probably pass on trying to get in at midnight though.
Spike Lee is going to screw up the remake of Oldboy his movies are so bad. The only thing he is good at professionally is cheering for the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, AND complain about the inaccuracies of the history portrayals in movies that contain few to no African Americans/Blacks... Inside Man was decent though except for the godawful film score.
Just got home from it and I really enjoyed it. SPOILERS (probably) They got most things in which is good. They only had 200 pages to work with though. I have a few issues with it which annoyed me. Dumbledores story got screwed up badly, the resurrection stone screw up (I understand why it was done bit it still annoyed me) and teddy lupin. But I liked that they showed that Luna and Neville would get together.
Meh, he has some pretty cool movies. I think if he can channel the level of performances that he got out of his actors in 25th Hour, Oldboy could end up being decent. When all is said and done I think Oldboy stands out because of the drama, not the violence
Just got back from the movies. Harry Potter was great, honestly, it was great. This one comes closer than any of the others so far to the level of the books. Went with my girlfriend, and I was literally about to break down by the end of the film. Read my first Harry Potter book in second grade, and now, I'm going to college in a month. It's been awesome getting to see how everything turned out. No doubt, this will always be my favorite series as far as fiction literature is concerned. Going to read the last book before summer ends for sure. In any case, it's been a great run Harry; a competent conclusion to a great franchise.
Not a great conclusion in my opinion. Part 2 was just okay and the nothing in the movie was emotional like they had for Lord of the Rings (in terms of epicness). I don't know... It felt rushed and it didn't go out with a bang for me. My girlfriend was disappointed. They didn't explain Dumbledore's dark magic affiliation and his sister's death... I thought that was pretty significant in the book.. It also would have been more dramatic if they showed how some of the characters in the book dies. I know Harry learns of it but at least make it a little different and have us feel for them. Because when the scenes came up with the characters dead, I felt nothing. And I don't think they explained who's the new headmistress Spoiler Minerva--- it would have been nice if they did :/ $92 million Friday is huge too for HP. Probably $175-$180 million range. The Dark Knight Rises teaser was interesting. Same with Rise of the Planet of the Apes, for its third trailer.
You can only do so much with a two hour movie for a book like that. The books will always be significantly better, bet I felt that the newest movie has closer than any previous film to representing what the books are all about. They have to take into account the people who've never read the books before as well in any case. I'm pretty sure it's going to end up with over $200 million by the end of the weekend after $92 million on Friday alone. Either way, the series has been a hell of a memorable one. Having followed them from the beginning of elementary to the end of high school, I can genuinely say that I grew up with Harry and the series. Saw the new Dark Knight trailer yesterday in theaters. It was pretty awesome. Nolan.
This movie was the best yet, and I even think it was better than the book. Especially since J.K. Rowling is a sub-par author. Good ideas, mediocre execution.
