I had a problem with X-Men because in the first half hour it was great, and as soon as the new recruits were introduced the movie went downhill, and never came back up.

So I guess that was one of my biggest problems, as they effectively killed the whole movie for me due to the amount of screentime and awful one liners they were given. It just completely throws you off from how it started with a serious introduction. I'm all for comedic relief in movies, but when it takes over the entire movie itself... bleh.

What they try to instill the most is the "be true to yourself" message, and the way they bash you over the head with the "society doesn't like mutants" speeches weren't proven enough with the information given to do this. Once or twice is enough, but 5+ sob stories from someone who has the ability to change into WHATEVER SHE WANTS made no sense to me.

It was pointed out in the movie why she does not. When she has to stay in a certain shape she has to be concentrating on that form the whole time some bit. So basically she cant have full concentration which would not be very good. Its the same as Scott needing to hold back his power some bit as well.

The only character that was interesting enough for me to not leave the theater was Magneto. He had an interesting enough story-- still should have been all about him X-Men Origins: Magneto-- All the other characters were forgettable-- I think I repeated this three times... since everyone is still talking about X-Men.

Green Lantern was a decent superhero movie. The visuals were pretty good and that's all there is to that movie :p Ryan Reynolds wasn't too bad as Hal Jordan, he actually did a good job.

Here's my ranking to the four main superhero movies (#1 being best)

    1. Captain America (I know this movie will be good :D)
    2. Thor (Not as bad as I thought it would be... Solid B movie, and that is good for a superhero movie)
    3. Green Lantern
    4. X-Men First Class (Movie was all over the place, James McAvoy was the wrong choice to play Professor X..)

Cars 2 has a lot of rotten reviews so far on rotten tomatoes. If this keeps up it will be the first Pixar rotten reviewed movie. Cars wasn't even good anyway. Predicting a $60 million weekend (below expectations).

Not trying to pick on anyone. But really? Two Nolan movies as your favorite of all time? Inception is impossible to watch more then once. My favorite Nolan movies is Prestige, Dark Knight and Memento. I've seen them all. Inception is just so highly overrated. Not even the 8th best movie last year. And yes, Nolan is good, but I like 3 of his movies, and the rest are above average. He hasn't made enough movies to be considered one of the best yet, like Spielberg, Scorcorse, Tarentino, Fincher.
You grew up with Harry Potter? Are you like 14?
30 Minutes or Less looks decent, but I hate Aziz Ansucki. And they made a comedy of off a true story where someone actually died, which is sketchy. I just can't buy into Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Franco looked cheesy, and the animation is cool, but I can't get into smart monkeys, which basically makes them stupid humans. The first two Captain America trailers were complete cheese fests, but the new one is good. I just hate his outfit, its ridiculously cheesy. The Change Up is a body changing comedy so its gonna suck, but I think Horrible Bosses looks hilarious. Crazy, Stupid, Love looks like a decent romatic comedy, but I wish Carrel would sign up for better movies, he could make fantastic comedies instead of decent ones. The first final Destination was good, the next 3 were terrible, and this one looks decent.
There's my unwanted and unwarrented opinion.

DeCaprio said "Rose" every ten seconds. Acting, writing was really cheesy. It is a classic because of how much money it made, but just because a movie makes a ton of money, it doesn't have to be good. And yeah, I or him or you probably couldn't create one of the highest grossing movies of all time, but we never said we could. Just that James Camerons isn't that good.

Whats wrong with you?? The guy says a few movies he likes and stuff hes looking forward to and you try rip his post to shreds. What's wrong with growing up with Harry potter. I did and can't see anything wrong with that. And I have watched inception 4 times and still love it as much as last summer. So just because you have certain tastes the world is not obliged to share them. I'm sure you like stuff that him, myself and others don't enjoy.

I clearly said in my post that I wasn't attacking him and that I was just giving what I thought, because I love movies. I never gave a personal attack or comment(which you did), other then the age thing because I was just curious, but I felt it wasn't negative. I also stated that it's just my unwanted and unwarranted opinion. I figured this would happen if someone didn't read my post.

Ya I read all that but that's not a get out of jail card for ridiculing someone's tastes. If you really weren't trying to pick on him then you wouldnt have said anything. And again why is growing up with harry potter a bad thing??

I never said it was? I just thought it was interested and slightly weird that someone "grew up" with Harry Potter movies. I guess alot of people have, I just have never heard that before.

lmao. Green Lantern may not even make back half of its budget. Super 8 might triple its budget. God I love Super 8.

I think growing up with Harry Potter is dreadful, it tricks a young mind into believing these films are actually good. The books I can deal with, but the movies? They barely make sense on their own and the star of the whole thing isn't even a good actor. He's competing with Keanu Reeves in the wooden expression competition.

That said, qasim can enjoy whatever he likes. I'm just attacking the movies, not his taste. Both those Nolan movies are great and I enjoyed Inception even more the second time around.

Wait when he said growing up with Harry potter I presumed he meant the books. I forgot this was the movie thread. Losing respect for him unless he comes in and clarifies :(

It's funny how a kid like you questioned someone's age. IRONY!

Also you talked about how Nolan hasn't made enough movies to be considered "great" and then you cited Tarantino as a person who is? Well guess what, they've each directed 7 feature films, and Nolan has directed more than Tarantino if you count both parts of Kill Bill as one movie.

And you are a real idiot if you judge a director based on the number of films they make.

Nolan has more films on the user-delegated IMDB top 250 movies than Cameron, Coppola, Scorcese, or Fincher. Hell, even you said that you "like three of his movies and the rest are above average." Show me another director who can make three great films and have the rest still be really good. I can think of practically no other director who has yet to make a bad film.

Watching Shutter Island for the first first time (embarrassed) right now with the girlfriend. Scorcese definitely pulled some f**ked up shit here, but it's been pretty interesting so far half-way in. What did y'all think about the movie?

Seeing that Cars 2 is the first Pixar film to have more negative ratings across the board than positive ones, has anyone checked it our yet? How about Bad Teacher? Excited for Transformers.

Holy f**king shit? What just happened? Wow.

So, was the Dr. telling the truth then? Was he really Andrew? He got that surgery at the lighthouse some time before, hence the bandage on his forehead at the beginning of the movie. Is that what went on? Or, did he fall prey to the conspiracy going on at the island? Doing a wiki/spoiler thing later no doubt. But, wow.

Nah, he never got the surgery. That was just an injury that happened during the frenzy. The novel was apparently suppose to be ambiguous, but the Andrew's final quote in the film pretty much infers that he'd rather die (get lobotomized) thinking of himself as an innocent cop then a guilty monster. I don't get why he considers himself a monster, though. His wife killed his kids.

So...what happened to him? Were the events all real? Did he get screwed over by the drugs? What happened at the end? Did he 'reset' again? Why did it show him going to the lighthouse at the end?

He thinks he's a monster because he let his wife fall prey to her insanity, never having believed her when she told him that she had something going on with her brain. He thinks he could have stopped everything. However, does that mean he really was Andrew and not Ted?

    Wiki time.

None of the events were real. He didn't get screwed over by the drugs. He was mentally-ill the entire time. He didn't reset, he just pretended he did so that they would lobotomize him.

“Which would be worse, to live as a monster, or die as a good man?”

When he poses this question, it applies to himself. Would it be better to live as a monster (one that kills his wife) or dies a good man (in his fantasy). He knew he was Andrew, and he made the choice of lobotomizing himself and rejecting reality.

After reading the wiki and your post, I got it. Thanks. Definitely some interesting stuff. Not the resolution I had hoped for, but it's a good movie all the same.

Comments on this week's new releases?

Follwing and Insomnia were just average. But your right, no bad movies yet.

Tarentino made Kill Bill 1, Kill Bill 2, Inglourious Bastards, Resovoir Dogs, and Pulp Fiction that were A grade. Nolan had 3. I consider Tarentino better because he may have directed the same amount of movies, but more that stand out. Listen, the first Harry Potter movie was released in 2001. That would make the kid 14-15ish most likely, and it was just weird to hear about someone growing up with Harry Potter. Usually, you hear Jaws, or Toy Story. I guess pretty soon we will be hearing about someone growing up with the Transformers movies.

Kill Bill vol. 2 was like a long fart. Crude, unecessary and way too drawn-out. I'm not too keen on Inglourious Basterds either... I kinda like it but at times it feels too much like Tarantino is trying to parody his own directing style.
