I saw the movie a week ago, I didn't exactly search my brain through every scene. But basically, they had to tie up that plot hole, and I thought it was anti-climatic but whatever, just a portion
So, uh... Anyone seen Super 8? Very enjoyable. There's been lots of criticism that Spielberg essentially tried to cram what should have been two different films into one, but I thought he tied them together well enough. Loved the crashing train sequence.
Super 8 was okay. Solid B- for me. Spoiler The kid and the dad thing was pointless... Nothing really happened between them, and no emotions throughout the film other than Alice (good acting by the Dakota's little sister by the way). The story was a little slow and nothing like the old sci-fi Spielberg movies. It doesn't seem like JJ paid any homage to the old days, more like I have this idea (M. Night) and I am going to throw it all together and make like the sci-fi movies I grew up with. The alien was definitely Cloverfield/Star Trek like And I hate the LOST-like music from Giacchino. He has some great scores but every time I watch a JJ Abrams' movie all I can think of is LOST. But for a $50 million budget, the movie did alright
Ugh, lately, I've been skipping over words, misunderstanding basic sentences, and just generally butchering the english language. Gotta work on that. And yeah, I'm sorta back, I guess I didn't practice moderation and just got sick of TA. Back to a point that's already been resolved (but I need to interject my point nonetheless), Batsy, over half of your problems with the movie deal with the simple fact that logic and common-sense aren't fun to watch. I'd much rather watch Azele (the red guy) wield guns that obnoxiously pop in and out of the frame, same with Magneto deflecting bullets instead of disassembling the gun. And with everything going on, and sticking somewhat to the comic storyline (I assume), some errors are gonna be swept under the rug, hoping that people don't notice the bulge. I'm sure someone else on this forum has made the exact same point, but like I said, I've been skipping beats when it comes to reading. But yeah, Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern... His costume may look like it was made out of fruit roll-ups and fish scales, but I'm about to have a good time watching it.
I just really didn't like it, I dunno. The dialogue was cringe-worthy with overdramatic "be yourself" themes and it tried to combine goofy characters in a wannabe serious storyline. I recently watched the first one again and liked it infinitely more =/
Cost $300 million to produce, heheh..can't wait to see what's up. Been quite a while since I've seen a good (Thor just wasn't good in my opinion) superhero movie. Sucker for them.
There's no way it cost 300 million. Wow. I'm going to watch both True Grits again tonight, so that's exciting.
Lol, it's $300 million with the promotion costs added on. The movie budget was a little over $200 million. The new True Grit was pretty well made, but can't say it's one of my favorites. Positive impressions for Super 8 anyone? Pretty excited to see that and Green Lantern tomorrow.
"Green Lantern" is purely a popcorn movie for 12-year-olds, who won't be disappointed. 23% on RT Too bad. Was hoping it would turn out to be an above-average, underdog-type movie like Thor instead of tanking like this.
