    I thought Inception was great.

After watching the arkham city trailer does anyone think Hugo strange could be he villain for dark knight rises. I mean it suits the villain type and you can see how the story would work. Hugo has no special powers which is a must for the movies as they are keeping to reality somewhat. Also he originally was recruited by the police to investigate batman which would tie into them chasing him in this movie.

    The basis is certainly there.....

After the Riddler rumor got squashed, he's been the strongest villain rumor alongside Talia and Catwoman. He'd fit in with a "hunt the dark knight" storyline perfectly. Also, after the Joker (arch nemisis) and Raz Al Ghul (mentor), he's the next villain who offers a huge threat to Batman personally: in the comic books and animated series, he figures out who Batman is.

I'm just wondering... Since the police have the Joker in jail, why not have that one guy (don't remember his name) spill the beans on Batman? He's the one that figured it all out talking to Lucious Fox..

I hope Angelina Jolie is not cast in the movie if there's a Catwoman or Talia. They should find someone not too big, like Heath Ledger.

In other news.. Saw the new trailer for Pirates. It looks good.

  5. I'll reserve my judgements on one movie in particular...[IMG]

But on a serious note, Tron: Legacy this Friday [IMG] and has anyone seen the trailer for the movie coming up called "I am number four"?

People used to think that since that guy was called Mr. Reese, he was supposed to become The Riddler (his name sounds like "mysteries"). Problem is, well you'd be asking this guy..

.. to be the main villain of the film. The last time we saw him, Gordan was sheparding him towards nursing attendants and Lucius Fox laughed his ass off in his face.

This has been bothering me for some time. Just watched the movie Inception again and...

    Does the top fall?

Could Dom still be dreaming? I know the ending where he wakes up and everyone is staring at him... He could have woken up as a stranger and the people he worked with had weird expressions (they could be happy he succeeded, or the way he stared at them was a little IDK). Saito could be calling about something else. I know it also shows that the others were staring at him on his way out of the airport but that could be something like they were in the same plane and they recognized him.

All I'm saying that the only thing that could be real was the plane scene where he woke up. Everything else was a dream. He could have thought of those people up because he saw them before he slept. An example could be something like I was looking at an old man on the bus ride home, I could then be sleeping and dreamt of people I have seen during that day..

I found an article a couple weeks ago that had an interview with Nolan. He said the top falls.

    Sorry, I don't remember the link...

  9. Yeah, he never actually said that. He left it ambiguous, but supported/denied some theories.

The Average Joe was right. TRON's pretty much awesome. It seemed scatterbrained for a moment, but at the end things started to come together.

Just watched Black Swan. It's cool.

It's well shot and well acted. It's just that to me this was a very simple story, and I guess that personally when I watch movies with very simple stories I tend to like those with a lot of little details to flesh everything out.

Here there isn't much besides the basic idea that Nina is a repressed girl struggling with insecurities. You don't really see that play out much other than with visual hysterics. Her mother is a standard overbearing parent who transferred her failure to her daughter. The ballet dancing could have been substituted by any other artistic or strenuous profession.

It just seems that there were a lot of missed moments where they could have fleshed out the relationships she has with other people before all the crazy stuff happens. The Wrestler did that well, so did Pi and Requiem. Black Swan is probably closest to The Fountain, where a lot of the drama is assumed rather than shown so that the director can get on with making the visual spectacle. I know that's not what the director intended, that's just how I felt.

But I suppose if your criticism of a film only comes down to personal preference, then overall everyone did a good job all round. ;)

While it doesn't beat Inception, Social Network or Toy Story, it's certainly a good film, and Darren Aronofsky still remains one of my favourite modern directors.

Black Swan does look like a really good psychological thriller but I think I will wait when it comes out for rent.

Just watched Tron in 3D for the second time. I love the movie. Though, the story could have been better, the movie was more of an upgrade to the original with nothing really new other than those awesome flying tech gliders (whatever it's called..). The only part I didn't like in the movie was the ending, which was predictable. Still love the movie.

Can't wait to see True Grit and Little Fockers.
