Exactly. And Batman + Superman is Superman. Superman = stupid which means superman + batman = stupid. Truth.
No. He's just the only DC hero worth anything. Exactly. I just wanna see Batman whoop Superman's ass. Did you really expect it to have anything besides an awful opening weekend?
Went to go see Pacific Rim yesterday. Getting out to the movies is a real challenge, but I wanted to see this. Had to pick the IMAX version, and thought it would be great on the bigger screen. Previews started and it was beyond loud. Like, super loud. I don't remember ever seeing a movie so damn loud. My girls spent the entire previews with their hands over their ears, it was so bad. My only choice was to go see a different film, and our options were Turbo (no) or Monsters University (which at home I had 2 free tickets for). We chose Monsters, and weren't about to waste the fortune we spent on goodies for everyone. Monsters U was... Okay. But just that. Forgettable, not very funny and I think this solidifies that Pixar truly has lost something. Tangled and Wreck it Ralph were leagues better than this, and had characters that I truly cared about. This.. Was just okay. Sully being a jerk for 3/4 of the movie may be understandable in the context of his character, but it was terrible for a kids movie. It made it into some half hearted attempt at a more adult film that made the entire plot bland for adults and boring for kids. I think it's likely that I won't even purchase it when it releases on blu, it just... Wasn't really good. Meh, is the best way to describe it. Most of the critics were right. It was okay, it was passable, but when crappy franchises that aren't Pixar make films that are better than the REAL Pixar films, then we are in a sad and disappointing world. Sigh.
Seeing Pacific Rim at IMAX is what convinced me I actually want a good sound system now, never cared much before. It blew me away.
I came this close to buying a nice sound bar the other day. But a sound bar isn't good enough. I want legit sound system. I need a legit sound system.
Moving house in 8 days time. Soon as I've settled in to a new job I plan on building a setup with my PC (and eventually PS4) both hooked up to a huge-ass TV with a great sound system, and my PC monitors on a desk nearby so I can switch almost everything between whichever screens I want.
I have a really good sound system at home. Stupidly, excessively loud != good sound. I'll go see it in a regular theater where it will be loud enough, and I'll do it without my kids. Maybe other IMAX films/theaters have more balanced sound, but not the one I was in. It was just annoying. Ninja - I know Tangled and Wreck it weren't Pixar, that was the point. They weren't, an were leagues better. The last GREAT Pixar film was Toy Story 3. I loved brave as well, but that was an above average Pixar film. Monsters U was a mediocre Pixar film and a middling film in general. Cars 2.... We just won't talk about that. The Cars franchise was mediocre at best, and was the film that showed ALL of Pixar's warts. But after Cars, Pixar went on to make Ratatouille, Wall-E, Up and Toy Story 3, all awesome films. Then they made Cars 2. Brave was better, but then Monsters U... So far Pixar is 0/2 with their sequels. If Finding Dory is mediocre, it'll be a sad day for Pixar and proof that Disney is not doing Pixar any favors in the sequel department. New IPs are okay, though I'll admit Brave wasn't nearly as good as Wall-E or Up, it was still better than most films out there.
Oh yeah! I've heard amazing things about that one, as well! I didn't know it was a silent film, either. That's very interesting... so it's a sci-fi epic that's all silent? That sounds daring and awesome Well I will do just that, then. Thank you very much for the tip! Maybe they'll do a Kubrick Ultimate 4K Transfer Collection, and Fear & Desire will be a part of it? Ugh... have you been reading about 4K television sets and Blu-ray rereleases? Makes me mad. Yay! Good to hear Ah, okay. Then you are already well aware of the brilliance of Arrested Development. Interesting that you think the way you do with Sunny. Hm. I've heard offensive, forced, dumb, unfunny... but not negative Sad day. Yesss! I've never seen Weeds, but you're not the first person to say it fell off the saddle in the latter part of its lifetime. Unless you meant the concept was amazing but the execution from the very first episode even, was terrible? I'm really invested in Orange is the New Black. So interesting. Amazing little twists, too! Which episode are you on in that? Hm, I think American Dad is on Netflix! Snipped for brevity, but I agree with this. When it's done well, it can be an amazing complement to the experience I read a comment about it, relating it to the beginning of surround sound. Surround sound used to be a premium feature that people used for better immersion in the theater, and now it's something we take for granted. Maybe 3D will get to that point some day... not likely, but hey, one can dream! I used to be the same way, but have you actually looked into the stories of the other superheroes, and all the different storylines the comics have told? There's some pretty epic stuff, and some fascinating stuff as well. Even Superman has some darker storylines. One comic I really want to read is the Batman: Knightfall one, as well as the Venom one that comes before that. Batman is an amazing superhero, but don't discount the other DC ones blindly. DC is a solid comic company with most of their characters! Yeah I was expecting a low take, but that's much lower than even I anticipated. Too bad, too, because it was so fun. God that sucks. IMAX is known for its booming sound, though. Too bad you didn't get to experience the awesomeness that was Pacific Rim in the IMAX! D: Why did you put a "no" next to Turbo? I thought Monsters University was hilarious and a great return-to-form for Pixar, who I agree has been in a real dark period the last couple years. Cars 2 was... ugh... don't even get me started. Brave was a little better, but still so disappointing. Brave was more like a Dreamworks movie in every regard, and I didn't feel that Pixar "passion" you usually feel with their films. Monsters University didn't reach the great heights of Pixar's career, but it was a huge step forward from the steaming pile of trash that Cars 2 was, and the disappointingly mediocre and banal movie that Brave was. Fingers crossed for their 2014 picture, right? Isn't it called The Good Dinosaur, or something? Did you see the teaser trailer for Frozen in front of Monsters University? What were your thoughts, if you did? I saw The Conjuring finally. It comes from one of my top directors, James Wan, whom I look up to as an amazing person and filmmaking figure (and without his creation of SAW, I might not be so interested in film!). Naturally I am biased and will pretty much love anything he puts out, I think. But The Conjuring was amazing! It's amazing how Wan crafts these atmospheric tales and rarely ever scares you with a physical jump, but more of a psychological one. Very little blood, but some disturbing imagery. I won't write a whole review on it, but I highly recommend it if you enjoyed Wan's previous film Insidious, as well as Dead Silence. He has a particular taste for a certain type of horror that is so against the norm in today's cinema. It's wonderful. Unfortunately I was looking for Billy the Puppet all around the film, and he was nowhere to be seen... and that seems to be because James didn't put one in First film he has done that for. So sad. But whatevs.
Liked the cameos in The Expendables 2. Was a smarter film than the first, but that's not saying too much. Still fun to watch though. Man, those guys are so damn old.
I never saw the first Expendables, but I did have an itch to see the second one. It looked way better. And I was pleasantly surprised! I loved it, actually. Not bad for a first action film in several years, I'd say. First hardcore action film, that is... actually, if we are that specific, it might have been a decade or so... or maybe it was my first one! I don't know
No, actually. Yeah, I'm pretty ignorant in my statement that Batman is the only DC hero worth anything. I really want to read Knightfall as well. Lol, the Expendables films are so damn cheesy and stupid, but they're also so much damn fun. I enjoyed both of them, especially the second one, and I can proudly say I'm looking forward to the third one. It'll be interesting to see Mel Gibson as the villain.
I loved Up and Wall-e. I can't decide if I like those two, Ratatuille (know I spelled that wrong), Incredibles or Toy Story more. It's also really refreshing to see something lighthearted for a change.
WE'VE GOT AN EMERGENCY HERE! Cheify! Watch this list. Commando Die Hard 1 and 2 Rambo First Blood Parts 1+2,3,4 Terminator, Both movies Demolition Man True Lies Air Force One The One Hard Boiled Okay.
Hahaha, well that's okay! Yeah, Knightfall sounds... really cool. But dang it's long! Barnes & Noble has three volumes for $30 each. And they're big. I think I should start with the Venom one I saw there instead. It's way smaller, looks to have the same feel as Knightfall, and obviously ties right into Knightfall! Oh man. Oh maaaaan. Ratatouille. <3 That's the one you love more. ...hm... I feel so bad. Because I haven't seen any of those movies you listed. Only Live Free Or Die Hard and A Good Day to Die Hard.
Yeah, graphics novels are so damn expensive! I wanted to buy a couple Walking Dead graphics novels, but they were charging way too much for them. And Juhbby, don't listen to MC! Toy Story is the best!
