I didn't think it was going to be bad. Just thought it was going to be an average comedy. There have been plenty of average comedies with great casts. Instead of being average, it was excellent.
Do yourself a favor and steer very clear of the Lone Ranger reboot. Yeah, I was that one guy duped into wasting two and a half hours of my life.
It's really hard to avoid any movie with Johnny Depp in a lead role. But seriously, this reboot is a blasphemy to the original TV show and radio episodes. Nothing, nothing, nothing like the real Lone Ranger. Just because Batman is a "dark" franchise doesn't mean you have to apply that to every new superhero/reboot movie coming out. Half of the issue with this is the terribly uneven tone.
First ten minutes are the best by far. First ten minutes were awesome. Just rent the DVD, watch the opening scene, then eject and return to the video store. Pretend that was the whole movie. Edit: well...awesome in the sense that it's exciting and funny. Not in the sense of being faithful to source material.
I personally prefer to finish my movies. We already knew it wasn't gonna be faithful to the original. It being enjoyable anyway is different. And I can't say I necessarily trust your verdicts at this point in time.
Honestly, it looks like well-made crap to me. Great effects and cool colors, but a crappy movie overall. But the hype on the internet is ridiculous... and I want to spite Grown Ups 2 and help it fail. So I will probably watch Pacific Rim What are your thoughts? Think it will be good? Hideo Kojima posted his Twitter review of it and it instilled some hope for me. Would you please get over yourself? Thanks.
I am excited, espacially since it has giant robots and giant monsters. I also like that the monster are BEATABLE AND NOT INVINCIBLE WALKING APOCALYPSES here. Ahem, *japanese godzilla*. So yeah. I think I'll enjoy it a bit. Also chiefy.
Pacific rim looks so laughably terrible. Makes me wonder why Del Toro would have anything to do with such crap.
I really want to know why people feel this way. It is literally a love letter to Japanese monster and robot films/animes yet people seem so ready to hate on it. http://kotaku.com/hideo-kojima-reviews-pacific-rim-in-eight-tweets-680304164 I was hyped for the movie before but the appreciation shown by Kojima makes me think this film will be fantastic.
